@joannaskwara Certainly. It's from Urusei Yatsura, up till nowadays, one of my favourite animes of all time, and easily amidst the top 3 when it comes to comedy. It's a classic aaand it's a long show.
@dimanganime Thanks, im really grateful :) and the one before it? about 0:39-0:43? Im actually looking for some anime films from my childhood - now i almost got everything!
@hawkeyetibor That's incomplete 80's anime indeed. I gotta start marathoning classic Gundams since i've always been driven away, spooked by its massive scale of series seasons and episodes.
@metal220 Well technically Anime is what the japanese call to cartoons, but clearly have different quality standards and variety in general (not to say western animation doesn't also have its own jewels.
:) Hello buddy, i'm glad to see someone seeing UY's worth! You remind me of myself (i checked your profile) when you mention the self proclaimed NO1 fan of anime, watching anime since a kid (i've been loving anime, and knowing what anime is for 17 years myself) and so i think you deserve to know as much truth facts as possible ;3
So i must let you know, Doraemon began in 1973. It just had so much success, that it was still strong in the 90's, when you watched it.
@Leafshinoby just remember animes back then used to take 3 years minimum before they were brought to another country, so you watching season1 in america or england or w/e when S. 3 or 4 is in Japan. thanks to anime fandom being so high they quicker to translate now tho w00t
Sure thing, i know that more than Speed Racer in this video are earlier than the 80's, that's why on the decription i mention that between the 3 AMV's, there's "one for Anime TILL the 80s". Due to lack of enough titles' footage to make independent videos for the 60's and 70's, i blended it all in a video TILL the 60's.
Also, SHIN Getter Robot is from the 90's but it's there as the only footage i had to represent the whole granchise. And the original Getter Robot is way older than that.
x[ i guess i know what you mean. There was a whole lot more violent and sexual themes and rough looking characters, not to mention the fact that everything was hand drawn without the aid of technology. Yet, many old titles are still better looking and more fluid than many modern works.
Honestly, I actually loved this style of anime where they didn't pull their punches. Anime these days that use more CG animation just aren't as awesome as these older ones. Even if some call these ugly, it's mostly just stylization.
Old anime is in many ways, to me, synonym of hard work and high expenses in materials. They are also a huge pack of memories bundled with nostalgia. It's not much about script, altough you used to have more violence in anime, while nowadays you have a growth of moe/kawaii, when you focus on those great stories, they become intemporal, and it's their common source, their japanese origin that matters. Stylization? I agree, but many animes look lazy or rushed (lack of frames and their consistency).
Ahaha, that kitty scene is from Hayao Miyazaki's "Kiki's Delivery Service". It's a classic, many people don't know, because they only caught his masterpieces with "Spirited Away". Truly a magic movie!
I don't recall what u mean, by space bus with youngs... hmm, wasn't it some kind of train? Maybe, something in the lines of Galaxy Express 999?
Eheh, that sick artsy freakshow always makes an impression. It's from a classic title called Devilman. That particular scene happens near the end of the 1st OVA, when a disco filled with humans dancing, suddenly becomes a slaughterhouse after they all start transforming into their demon versions. This was the manliest stuff i could watch back then to balance with my fandom for Sailor Moon in the early teen years lol. Very recommended if you enjoy the style.
this is a great clip, i actually enjoyed the infamous music of Sepiroth.. Im going to check out wicked city , it caught my eye instantly i dig , very dark damented anime , and usually theyre pretty quaint and made by the older eras.. So its hard to enjoy this w/ all the kawaii or whatever its called going on now w/ Japan.. But i love anime anyways, do you have any suggestions on dark animes w/ that classic look like Demon city SHinjuku? thx ..
Well, thanks a lot! Hmm for that style, i think Wicked City and Demon City Shinkuku are pretty much on the top. But, maybe you should check out some titles that in one way or the other give me the same feel, like, Legend of the 4 Kings, Twilight of the Dark Master, Ninja Scroll for something more feudal, Bio Hunter, Ai City if u wanna travel even further into the past, or maybe something more recent like Gantz or Mnemosyne ;)
LOVE the collection of clips, but I can't say I'm as crazy about the music. Of all of the songs to play with a collection of humorous and serious anime alike, a random FF7 song isn't the first thing that comes to mind...
Yeah, some other people did that very same sidenote after watching the video, and i must admit i see the point.
I'd most surely make this video with a very different approach. Being tight on schedule sucked since this was the last AMV segment i took care of in the documentary.
Regardless, it's always nice to flash our memories with those oldies goodies.
Back when the CG facilitism was a far reality ;D everything had to be drawn by hand and coloured as well. There are some pretty nice digital animations, not using CG in the name of making things easier, but as a new form of making complex stuffs.
80s anime is my absolute favorite. Its so rich and beautiful and fluid. And its real art because its all hand drawn and hand painted. Its style is like metallic eye candy.
Oh, i was wondering if u meant that one actually, i shud have mentioned both in case of doubt, to begin with..hmm but yeah, that's a scene from the classic movie "Wicked City".
Check out 1 or 2 trailers of it here on youtube to check out its style, there's at least a very decent trailer around :)
hey hey, nice video.
