wow an happy end to a meaningful life then a celebration to new life then a surreal scene of nat sr walking up the stairs like heading to heaven or whatever is on top , great use of metaphor . GENIUS
Nate snr was my fav character he was so complex and mysterious esp when they found the little apartment he used to goto to listen to records and get high! it was so crazy that and when he waved formt he bus on season one i think episode one!
I received the first season of SFU as a birthday gift from my ex. I wanted to get him into it so he could gain the same appreciation of life from it that I did. I remember watching this scene with him and crying...it moved me how grateful for life Nate is and how grateful I was for everyone in my life, but also sad because I knew he was slipping away from me. We broke up 2 days later

I like how Nathaniel is looking over everyone, and looking happy that the room is being used for joy for a change, since its used almost everyday to mourn death
Great ending to the first season. Did anyone get the impression that the semi-ambivalent, yet group shot affirming nature of the scene was in case the series wasn't picked up for a second season?
Actually, I think it had been renewed already, but you're right, the season storylines had been tied up, so it could have served as a series finale :) (although it would have been such a waste)
Alot of shows end their first season similar to this. The group shot where the entire cast is in the closing scene. Compared to all of the following seasons (with the exception of the series finale), this season had a pretty tight ending. The only eyesore in my opinion was Gabe Dimas -- who was headed down a dark path. Of course there was still other lingering questions unanswered, but this season was very satisfying.

you got my thumbs-up.
to not've seen the final conclusion of season 5,would be devastating.
the best finale ever.
but you must agree there were too many average episodes between seasons' 3 and 5.
I know I'm being too picky, this is my favourite ever show and should have far greater recognition.
saying that,I'm just grateful it was made in the first place

@The19towers Thank god you weren't in charge of that decision then, or the world would've been robbed of a masterpiece.

loved the fact dad showed up here there and everywhere. Saddest one is when ruth gets remarried and you see him in the corner crying.
