  • In my day as a member of the 1979th Comm, we had FB-111's. The 80's were good but hard times.

  • The narrator has an odd accent. Its American but sounds like mabye something else mixed in? Anyone agree? Like she is a transplant from somewhere else.

  • Man I hope I get assigned in the U.K...hope I have time to drive to Fulham and see Chelsea F.C. play

  • god damn it i am gonna be there for the next 4 years

  • Wow... this place looks great. To bad I got stationed on a different RAF Lakenheath (05-07.)

  • i live near there and learned quite a bit from watching this video that i never knew about! :)

  • I was stationed here from 1977 to 1979 , a lot has changed. What a great time !

They used to bus english girls on base every weekend to go to the NCO club we had a great time !

  • Ill be going here as a crew chief after i finish tech school

  • F15s at Lakenheath are used for aerosol operations, wake up to chemtrails.

  • "current" Lakenheath? LOL! This video is ancient!

  • I left Lakenheath in July of 1994 & this video is "current" to everything I remember back then. Someone posted earlier that the movie titles at the base theater originated in '95, so that sounds about right.

  • I was part of the 48th Hosp. Squad. from 76 till 80. Man oh man have things changed but I see they haven't replaced the Hosp. building. Spent a fair amount of time at the Rod&Gun Club. But spent even more time riding my Harley Davidson bought thru new car sales tearing up the neat country roads. Ahhh memories..........

  • I was there in 1969 thru 1972..the place has really changed to me..fast food restaurants on base...crack me up!

  • was there 1982-1984 absolutely LOVED that assignment, go 492nd!!!!

  • The rooms are a lot smaller, the bathrooms are smaller, and you don't get so many people coming into your high schools and massacring your children with automatic rifles.

Don't be afraid, patriots - just because you can't buy honey in a 5-gallon plastic jug doesn't mean you are outside civilisation. You can still swagger into the nearest town and announce loudly that you can't find some repellent item that Septics find indispensable, such as enemas or vaginal douches.

  • I looked up two of the movies that were being featured outside the base theatre and they were both released in 1995.

  • Wow, what a con! Lakenheath doesn't look like that at 0.32! Ha ha.

  • I know, I arrived there in 1989, and I never saw this "welcome" film. Looks like they're showing Bury St. Edmunds a lot.

  • Anyone remember usaf Chicksands, now we're talking back in the day, love to hear from anyone.

  • HAHa I remember that coach from 14:50, This must be old! This brought back many good memories

  • Had great pleasure spending 3 long summers on RAF Lakenheath, when my uncle was posted there. They where flying F-111F`s then. Great people, friendly, always willing to show us a great time. enjoyed all the base facilities, especially the sports and cinema. Go eagles ,thanks.

  • wow im going to the highschool right now. THAT LOOKS OLD! DAMN

  • Love to see what life is like on the base now. Use to love the club at Lakenheath and Mildenhall, anyone remember usaf chicksands, get in touch

  • I departed RAF Lakenheath in 1993 and the wing headquarters had not been completed but the commissary was so I really don't know how old this is...LOL

  • Bloody hell this is old....I would say early 90's for sure (roughly 93/94 I would say).

  • definitely early 90's! It amuses me that they show all these images of 'quaint olde England', shame they're actually nowhere near the base! and the scene they show at 0:32 is the Scottish Highlands, an 11 hour drive from lakenheath! I bet it's a bit of a shock to those expecting cream teas and cricket on the village green, only to find acres of pine trees and nothing but fields of sugar beet and carrots.

  • Looks like a great place, God Save the Queen!

  • I'd say this is mid-1990s looking at the cars. The 48th got its F-15s in 1992 so it must be after this date.

  • Thank you so much!!!!! I was a 902 in the hospital squadron. I have forgotten so much about England....I truly help that there are more television channels there! lol. We had three if I remember. That was about 28 years ago.

    Take care

  • Cheers mate! I left there in 1980. Thats about when you left. I was in the AGE shop Aerospace Ground Equipment. Lets talk a little bit, if you'd like.

  • How old is this? Those hairstyles are retro!
