Killing an unarmed opponent in anger is murder, and murder is evil. Anakin Skywalker struck down and killed Count Dooku in anger - murdered him - and that finally turned Anakin to the dark side. He was a Dark Jedi from that moment, there was no going back from that point. Later he became Vader.
So if Galen Marek had killed the helpless Emperor, he would have fallen to the dark side and claimed the Emperor's throne himself - thus continuing the reign of evil instead of ending it.

(They didn't go down and take a pulse, now did they lol) With brain memory loss and the injuries sustained, as well as manipulation in the tank by Vader can easily explain how hes in two. Other then that, I loved this ending. as much as the gameplay needed work, the story is a worthy addition to the canon Star wars universe.

Ugh, I hate this story. Not only does it completely undermine the "cool factor" of the villains in the original trilogy, it is absurdly "epic" and overall completely useless and uncalled for.

The alternate/dark side ending suuucks. Apparently, the light side ending (and the story in general) is canon -- a bridge between the third and fourth movies, I suppose.

Yes he did the right thing, he chosed the light side which is the true ending and the true story of the force unleashed whereas the alternate ending (dark side ending) it's a fake and a shithole and I hate it.

Yes , you can choose fight against Darth Vader (Dark side) or help the other guys fighting against the emperor (Light side)

I have to admit, this was the coolest ending out of any game I've played. First time I saw this, I was like "Holy crap." Great game. ^^

Well, it seems that the Jedi now have another tale to weave into the history of their eternal order: The redemption of Galen Marek. His heroic sacrifice allowed the Alliance to defeat the Empire, restore peace and order to the Galaxy, and even allowed the Prophecy to be fulfilled.
Anakin Skywalker also redeemed himself, not unlike Galen: Choosing to protect another, heroically destroying the Sith and bringing balance to the Force.

well it depends you, if u go and kill vader u'll unlock a custume (light vader) and everybody dies exept u and if u go after he emperor well u get a custume but a different 1.
