Totally agree with you. Maybe it is a case of " ideals are fine when you are young" There's a great quote of his " I'd rather play Himalayan flute music than rock music. The old Paul was a God the new Paul truly is a mere mortal.
i Loved the Jam, Best f...in band in the modern world, but surely people grow up and progress, we can't all be angry young men forever, I think weller's solo stuff, especially wild wood and stanley road are technically far better productions than the jam stuff. Weller rockin out to shadow of the sun is just as enjoyable as "takin my love" from in the city, different, but more mature
I may be wrong, but it sounds like the interviewer was Suzanne Dowling from Australian TV Show "Rock Arena". I really like the Style Council and I also like the Jam. I think this idea that one band is absolutely better than the other is quite daft.
