  • Thank you for clearance how to open this properly!

  • I had the Seagate 250 Agent-Go 2.5 External Hard Drive but the case was silver. Since I useless without a laptop and I fixed up an PC and I couldn't recover any of my stuff, so I bought this external drive, replaced it using a different Seagate 120GB with my stuff to that enclosure and the disk wouldn't start at all, so I put back the stock Hard drive. Couple of years later, I decided to put this drive on my netbook to increase capacity. This 250GB didn't last long, it crashed after 1 month!! :(

  • Thank you for the extremely helpful guide.

  • perfect

  • Thank you for the video! These were very simply and clear instructions.

  • very good video, really helped !!

  • this usb combo is like $50 cheaper than just buying the plain SATA drive. I'm buying one to put in my PS3

  • thanks!

Seagate charges +$300 and 3 weeks to fix/ recover your data for you!

  • Excellent video. I'm about to buy one of those on sale and was wondering if I could remove the drive myself if I needed to.

  • Thanks for this. I have a slightly different hard drive that just failed and Seagate wants $600 for data recovery! I was told I can open it myself as I see from your demo and put it in an external drive case, which I think you're referring to as a "sata" case? Am I correct? I want to go to Radio Shack sounding as though I know what i'm talking about. Thank you.

  • Thanks for the video, Bought a replacement HDD that will fit into that case, Didn't want to brake any clips if there were any.

  • Thanks buddy. Very neat Demo !

  • EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thanks! :)

  • ooh...thats so sad, theres a fujitsu drive in there...

  • Thank You. I have Been wondering to to open it. now i Know how to fix My Seagate FreeAgent GO. i have a Bad MiniB port. i used a Sata to usb Connection.

  • thanks man... saved a lot of bucks :) had a broken connector.. removed the hard disk and mounted on a sata-to-usb converter..

  • Question, would a feeagent theater+ recognize the different brand of drive if replaced? Was thinking of replacing it with a 1TB laptop drive the same thickness but different brand as well.

  • thanks, seagate has nice quality hdds

  • thank you for showing me how to open the case. I was really struggling with it.

  • thanks!!!

  • Very good instructions, I'm planning on buying one of these from my local store and opening it to put it into my ps3 since the original HDD is getting full.

  • Very good, but mine looks a little different...

  • Thanks man! Highly understandable instruction. I've opened mine without any troubles very easily.

  • nicely done.

can you put it back without anyone noticing that it was open? :S

  • @spitfire4401 Holy crap, dude! Get medicated...

  • I like your video dude , you seem like a real wise man , cheers :)

  • How would you connect this hard drive to a laptop? My mini usb port broke off and Seagate is going to replace it for me and allow me to open it up to get the data off, but how would i connect it to get the data off?

  • @Glennja08 You'd have to replace the current hard drive, but you'll another way of booting (such as a live Linux CD or USB) AND a second external drive for storage since the normal drive is being occupied by this FreeAgent Go.

Your best be after opening this drive is to order a 2.5inch HDD enclosure, aka the thing you just took off. They're really cheap.

  • why would you want to open it?

  • @Lance1992100 To turn it into a normal drive, to recover data if the enclosure fried, to replace the current enclosure, etc

  • @Lance1992100 I think that was fully explained within the body of the video demonstration, was it not?

  • Get WD or Hitachi or sth...

Hate this crap. Broken after 1 year. Blah.

  • could i use it for an xbox 360 slim. i have the 1 TB and i want to put it into my xbox more memory

  • could i use it for an xbox 360 slim. i have the 1 TB and i want to put it into my xbox more memery

  • Nice job man no explosion lol cool did not know what was inside when that cover was removed.

  • something else, the model that I purchased @ wally world feb 8, 2011, the illumination panel has 2 TINY wires going to the panel from the connector on the hard drive. And I do mean VERY TINY so be extra careful. this is on the USB connector end.

These drives are regular SATA drives, not like the western digital edition that has the USB controller integrated into the end of the hard drive controller.

  • Thanks dude i put the hard drive in my 4gb xbox 360 works great

  • So, if I were to buy the cheapest one of these they have, i could swap in a laptop HDD (a much larger one) and it'd work with my freeagent media player and save myself a lot of money, right?

  • @C0NTR4l34ND as long as it is a sata hdd, I would say yes.

  • OMG I had to do this today, with a customers drive.. Was soo easy..

Just a small note.. You are using a Fujitsu HDD not Western Digital..

Bottom left corner is shows xD

  • very detailed thank you very much

  • Can you put the case back together after removing the hard drive?

  • @kkolintzas DUDE he say that he uses the SEAGATE HDD from the freeagent in a other devise and inside there is a westarndigital hdd so yes xD

  • @kkolintzas the adhesive does hold together but it will only do it a couple of times. If you go around the case on the colored panel side, it is thin aluminum to help dissipate heat and it will bend extremely easy so be extra careful when trying to lift the panel up. i used a flat edged knife from my steak knife set and it did not harm anything. as you go along, just barely twist the knife edge, do not angle the blade to dig in, keep it flat up and down and rotate like a clock

  • Thanks for the guide.

  • thanks OM

  • My knife slipped and I ended up scratching the side of my case, but that was all my bad. Thanks for the help!
