Unfortunate that the first RE movie kinda stayed true somewhat to the games. The games for same odd reason have a Jurassic Park kinda of feel to them but better, I wanted to see that in the movies but it somehow didn't touch on them.

You know irl, if she used those powers, according to most lore, your organs would age very fast for some reason, so she would of died. It would of been cooler if one of her clones took the duty of being the new Alice who was then recruited a select 7 Alice members.

To be honest, had the main character of these movies been some big buff dude, everyone would love it. People have an issue with women showing strength! People love the games because the girls seem pretty weak compared to Chris, Wesker etc. But in this movie, it shows that a WOMAN can be just as strong, that's why I love them! Go Team Alice!!!

i dont get you people. seriously. if Paul wouldve made the movies EXACTLY the games youd been screaming its a effing rip-off. im a DIE-HARD fan of the games as well, and i still love the movies. sure Afterlife had its BS moments, even i have to agree on it. but at least there are movies of our favorite game. think of that. the possibilities of a re-boot are still on the table, and if u ppl think you can do it so much better. make your own version and release it into hollywood =/
I'm a huge fan of the games and the movies. Sure, the movies don't follow the games 100%, that's what makes them so good. The basic storyline (aside from Alice) is the same, along with many characters good & bad, and if you notice some action scenes in Apocalypse and Afterlife are mirror images of cutscenes from different games. I think the games were epic, but adding Alice and a new twist to the story was a great idea. Can't wait for a new movie!!!
In "Apocalypse", they reveal that the T-Virus was invented by a scientist trying to cure his daughter. He invented the Tyrant Virus with the intent of curing someone.
So, why did the film producers choose to call the virus the Tyrant Virus if according to the film plot, it was never meant to create Tyrants in the first place?
I hated Alice's character after the first movie . They made her into this invincible badass that the movies didn't need . As for the movies themselves, the first was the best, after that it seems like they tried to throw in a bunch of stuff from the games (eg. nemesis, wesker, lickers, ubcs) & it ended up being really out of place & not making any sense . I mean, Im glad they didn't just turn the games into movies cuz that'd be kinda suckish, but the director could've been a bit more creative .
@tonyAJ420 Do you think the Lord of the Rings films would've done so well if Peter Jackson had decided to throw the book out and just make up shit as he pleased? Do you think the Harry Potter films would've been so successful if they had created a new wizard, made her invincible, and had Harry and friends be supporting characters to this new character? Same thing goes with Resident Evil; if you're not going to at least try to be loyal to the original work, why use the name for your movie?

I hate these movies because they make a charecter that makes every boss opsolite. I mean seriously the new one is like a matrix more than resident evil. Atleas leon and chris had some trouble with the bosses story wize.
That's not a Tyrant, that's a Bandersnatch, he wishes he turned into a Tyrant. Tyrants dont have nasty stretchy arms, they just beat the shit out of u..sory but get it right.
You would also need familiar characters like Chris, Jill, Claire Leon, Wesker, Birkin et al to add familiarality and relevance and without that shit Alice character who is a Trinity wannabe..
I would have this filmed at Pinewood studios with realistic sets and my Director of choice would be JJ Abrams..
The moral of RE would be is to not to fuck around with cross genetic experimentation, because in the real world as in now, there are no laws or bodies that keep a watchful eye on what's going on
My ideal RE film would be about psychological horror, great sets, eerie music and atmosphere and limited weapons until you get through half the film where they find a weapons cache and reload on ammo and upgrade the weapons, then it can get into a horror action romp.. I would have the violence like George A Romero's 'Day of the Dead' (1985) where if people were to get ravaged by zombies, then that's how they'd get taken out..
Besides, RE in general was about genetic experiments (BOWs) and it was a psycological horror, I mean running around with liitle or no ammo was scary in itself, not to mention the horrors you would encounter along the way..
The film franchise fucked it up by making it a gun totting slow mo kung fu flick that has no relevance to the source and rips off countless movies in the process..
Only weak minded fools would class this kind of entertainment as worth watching, let alone it being a classic..

What actually is happening in the movie, or what's happening on Alice is how a succesfull T-virus should have worked. That's the plot about the movie the good T-virus vs the bad T-virus.
@waazabie No Birkin or his tyrant, Nemesis was quite weak and not at all scary, took 3 films before you saw a tyrant which was weak, only now Wesker is getting involved, no Hunters, no Crimson Heads, no spiders, no botonical herbs, no proto-type weapons like the mine thrower etc..
My definition of the plot of the movies is - Milla Jovovich, big fan of RE and married to the director Paul W Anderson was like 'make me the star of the franchise, hell it should be all about me..'
I am saying Alice has the perfect T-virus and they don't know how to make the perfect T-virus anymore it's seen in extinction all those test on the clones.
Finally a page on youtube where people actually agree that the RE films suck big time.. What's the point of making RE films if they weren't true to the game, I mean you wouldn't make a Superman film without Kryptonite or Lex Luther, they have to be in it..
Oh man thank god I stopped watching these movies, the first was alright the second ruined it more for me and I didn't even bother with the rest. I'm sticking with the games and hoping on those new resident evil movies.
i guess all of us ppl who have played RE games can express how much we think the RE movies suck. our expectations werent met. but someone who's never heard of RE before and saw the movie for the hell of it can say it's a pretty good sci-fi film, plenty of action, altho it gave all of us RE fans a kick to the crotch. i just wish they could be remade in a respectable and loyal manner sometime in the furure.
@DB8ed I played a RE 1 and 2. But my expectations were met, the 1st movie i didn't as much because most deaths weren't even by zombies. but it has a good storyline. I guess it matter's how much you like RE but I adore it so i guess it's the way you think about. In a way, I guess anyone could like the movie if you think of it in it's own story instead of another part of the game.
@DB8ed Well, I can't! I'm a huge fan of the games and play them eversince I'm 7 years old when the first game came out. But I also love the movies very much for what they are. Enterntainment INSPIRED by the games. Sure I wish there was a bit more scariness and more variety of monsters in 'em but it's ok. It doesn't matter what they'd have done., people always bitch for ridicoulus reasons. It's either too much like the games or it's too less like them. No one's forced to watch them. Get over it!!

The best RE film has to be Degeneration without doubt...the true die hard fans seem to agree most of the time. But these ones are fucking garbage...ALL of them
The films do have one major upside...Sienna Guillory as Jill...hell even just reading half of a rumor of her being in it tricked me into seeing third and waiting till her scene in the fourth one...other than that thought that was an apt description...

I like both the movies and the games. I've been a Resident Evil fan for quite some time and I don't think the movies suck at all. Are they loyal to the games? Not really. But were they supposed to be? No. Anderson wanted to make the Resident Evil movies appeal to everybody, even people who weren't fans of the games. Obviously that's where the "mistake" was made. I see the films for what they are and so I can get enjoyment out of them.
@DB8ed Im a lifelong RE fan, grew up playing the games, and I think it was a beautiful reimagining, I personally would've been pissed if Paul just rehashed the same story from the games. He took the story and made it revolve around one group, the resident evil game story is great dont get my wrong, but seeing how I play the games, I dont wanna see all the same shit when I watch the movies
@DB8ed Ive played Re 2-5. And yeah the movies aren't as good as they could be, they messed up key things like Nemesis (having a change of heart? wtf).
Still I think they are pretty enjoyable if you forget about the fact that they are supposed to be based on the game, they have the idea but took a different direction with the film and added a superhero (Alice), still I think they are pretty entertaining films but not to take seriously.

You know if they had made the movie with the main character being someone from the game (Leon, Chris etc...) I don't know how much I would have liked it. And the Nemesis appeared in the 3rd wich is 20 days or so after the first game.

How come alice hav powers and still maintain human form, but other ppl in the movie start off human and then become very powerful discusging monster such as nemesis in RE2 & tyrant in RE3? They all try to be like alice and try to understand y she the one who cn maintain human form w/ high powers and high skills, but dont turn into a monster.
She is the perfect subject for the progeniter virus. Her body adapts and fuses with it. Others reject it and mutate. Thats why they want her so badly. The virus was supposed to be used to make "super soldiers" and it worked on her.

I'm a huge fan of the games and the movies. Sure, the movies don't follow the games 100%, that's what makes them so good. The basic storyline (aside from Alice) is the same, along with many characters good & bad, and if you notice some action scenes in Apocalypse and Afterlife are mirror images of cutscenes from different games. I think the games were epic, but adding Alice and a new twist to the story was a great idea. Can't wait for a new movie!!!

In "Apocalypse", they reveal that the T-Virus was invented by a scientist trying to cure his daughter. He invented the Tyrant Virus with the intent of curing someone.
So, why did the film producers choose to call the virus the Tyrant Virus if according to the film plot, it was never meant to create Tyrants in the first place?

I hated Alice's character after the first movie . They made her into this invincible badass that the movies didn't need . As for the movies themselves, the first was the best, after that it seems like they tried to throw in a bunch of stuff from the games (eg. nemesis, wesker, lickers, ubcs) & it ended up being really out of place & not making any sense . I mean, Im glad they didn't just turn the games into movies cuz that'd be kinda suckish, but the director could've been a bit more creative .

My ideal RE film would be about psychological horror, great sets, eerie music and atmosphere and limited weapons until you get through half the film where they find a weapons cache and reload on ammo and upgrade the weapons, then it can get into a horror action romp.. I would have the violence like George A Romero's 'Day of the Dead' (1985) where if people were to get ravaged by zombies, then that's how they'd get taken out..

Besides, RE in general was about genetic experiments (BOWs) and it was a psycological horror, I mean running around with liitle or no ammo was scary in itself, not to mention the horrors you would encounter along the way..
The film franchise fucked it up by making it a gun totting slow mo kung fu flick that has no relevance to the source and rips off countless movies in the process..
Only weak minded fools would class this kind of entertainment as worth watching, let alone it being a classic..

@waazabie No Birkin or his tyrant, Nemesis was quite weak and not at all scary, took 3 films before you saw a tyrant which was weak, only now Wesker is getting involved, no Hunters, no Crimson Heads, no spiders, no botonical herbs, no proto-type weapons like the mine thrower etc..
My definition of the plot of the movies is - Milla Jovovich, big fan of RE and married to the director Paul W Anderson was like 'make me the star of the franchise, hell it should be all about me..'

i guess all of us ppl who have played RE games can express how much we think the RE movies suck. our expectations werent met. but someone who's never heard of RE before and saw the movie for the hell of it can say it's a pretty good sci-fi film, plenty of action, altho it gave all of us RE fans a kick to the crotch. i just wish they could be remade in a respectable and loyal manner sometime in the furure.

@DB8ed I played a RE 1 and 2. But my expectations were met, the 1st movie i didn't as much because most deaths weren't even by zombies. but it has a good storyline. I guess it matter's how much you like RE but I adore it so i guess it's the way you think about. In a way, I guess anyone could like the movie if you think of it in it's own story instead of another part of the game.

Enterntainment INSPIRED by the games. Sure I wish there was a bit more scariness and more variety of monsters in 'em but it's ok. It doesn't matter what they'd have done., people always bitch for ridicoulus reasons. It's either too much like the games or it's too less like them. No one's forced to watch them. Get over it!!

I like both the movies and the games. I've been a Resident Evil fan for quite some time and I don't think the movies suck at all. Are they loyal to the games? Not really. But were they supposed to be? No. Anderson wanted to make the Resident Evil movies appeal to everybody, even people who weren't fans of the games. Obviously that's where the "mistake" was made. I see the films for what they are and so I can get enjoyment out of them.

Still I think they are pretty enjoyable if you forget about the fact that they are supposed to be based on the game, they have the idea but took a different direction with the film and added a superhero (Alice), still I think they are pretty entertaining films but not to take seriously.

You know if they had made the movie with the main character being someone from the game (Leon, Chris etc...) I don't know how much I would have liked it. They already made a pussy out of Jill -- could you imagine how much worse it would have gotten if she had played the main character? I gotta say as a RE game fan, it's really stupid that the Tyrant made an appearance AFTER the nemesis, like wtf, anyone who knows about the RE storyline knows the tyrant got rocketed to shreds in the first game.
And the Nemesis appeared in the 3rd wich is 20 days or so after the first game.
I guess the movie just said fuck the storyline like: ok, we put the Nemesis first but still want to see the Tyrant... well lets just put him in the 3rd movie anyways nobody's gonna realize...
