trust me, it's the other way around, 6.1 is smoother than 6.5. Try flashing a 6.5.x full/ lite rom, it's much quicker

As for the phone, looks good, but they need 2 work on sensitivity of the touch screen = come on samsung you trying to compete with the iphone and now the moto droid. You gonna have to come better then that!

I looks laggy as hell compared to the iPhone 3GS. Nice display but no way I'm getting this phone.

The only thing that's laggy is the touchwiz home screen, because it allows for uncompiled web code to be executed on the fly. Disable it and install SPB mobile shell, or wait until HTC's TouchFlo3d or SenseUI gets ported...then it will speed up :).
