Incredibly gifted. Anyone who can master the stage and screen, both small and large, in either comedic or dramatic roles, and top it all by singing so beautifully and poignantly, must be gifted.
OMG what is there to say! When my sister sent me a CD with this song, I heard a voice with vibrato and it just sounds so strong and crispy. I loved it with mucho gusto...
ONE of the MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN that I have ever LAID EYES ON, and a VOICE that IS KILLER!SHE to me FOREVER will be MY LADY, just don't tell my WIFE, PLEASE! THANKYOU for PUTTING THIS TOGETHER, IT IS AWESOME!
Miss Buckley has graced my life with many a powerful moment from large stages. I've toned my own act down in her personal presence in tight quarters like Don't Tell Mama during her Drood days. I gasp at her magnanimity, humility as a person and her mastery of great songs. This clip opens the door for net cruisers to discover more about her.
my god thats the sharpest insult that i have ever heard directed to Betty Buckley, i honestly enjoyed her in cats and think that her vibrato techniques in her singing are awesome but . . . thats my opinion hehe
You misunderstood me. I am actually surprised why people are so harsh. It looks like they are talking about her personality, which I cannot comment on. I dont even know who she is.
Betty Buckley's voice sounds like a screeching psychotic with a vibrator shoved up their ass. It was never any good - even in the early days when she was in 1776 on Broadway - that's why she wasn't used in the movie - she was charmless. She caused me to walk out during the performance of Cats, and I used to watch Eight is Enough in hope that the lesbian oldest duaghter (the Doctor) would beat the shit out of her in one of the episodes. Sadley it never happened. Her career is a mystery to me.
Douchehater I know you can ahve your opinion, and I love her in my Top 5 actresses of all time, but please don't lie to me, did you really walk out on her in cats? I mean just walk out??????? Waste your money? If you did you must REALLY hate betty buckley
Jayshreesin, act like an adult pls. People are permitted an opinion in an open forum. Do you know Betty Lynn? NO! I thought not. All can respond to her performance. Those who know her can respond to her person. Also, Carnegie was a nice show. I simply said, the two young singers she picked were very poor in technique and all belt it/show off. They took from her show. Honestly, end of discussion. You can not discuss performances with children.
The carnegie Hall CD is no longer there in most places. The two backup singers she had perform Mallard and Sekell were so bad, they almost ruined it for her.
Thank God. Thank you Sarahonward. It is true. I just want people to know she had some nice talent she lost and Broadway would not keep hiring. She played Diva and was very unkind to a lot of people. These things can be sad but true. I had really liked her work. Until, in class we saw the real Betty Lynn.
Absolutely FANTASTIC! I get chills when I hear and see Betty Buckley perform! I loved her as Abby on 8 is Enough....but she was BORN to SING! I met her, and she is just a SWEET and LOVING person!
Betty Lynn is talented,no doubt. lovely voice and at times, true emotion. I don't want to discourage you. Personally, I studied with her in NY downtown and got toknow her. She is not the kind, spiritual soul she presents. Of course, she polite to fans. It was heartbreaking to find this out.
I have known her all my life. My parents baby sat her!!! I saw her in "Promises Promises" in London about 20x's. What a beautiful voice and person she is
I also am looking for that clip, I ordered the CD of 1776 from amazon, and she sings violin in that, should get it this week. Amazon also has a dvd but not sure if Betty is in that one. I'm gonna investigate further.
That clip came from the Tony Awards Show in 1998.

I don't even know who she is, but why the harsh words? I think this is not very bad (if this is her voice).

She has a reptutation for being a diva because she doesn't settle for less than excellence.

then again i do mean her singing was great of course because the acting was to me-being a new actor myself-the definition for what i learned as flat

Don't know if it exists... does anyone have a clip of Betty in 1776? Yeah, that would be 1969, but that would be sooo cool to see!

BB did NOT appear in the movie 1776. I believe she was in London at the time. Blythe Danner played the part of Martha Jefferson in the movie.
But ... you may want to get the DVD anyway. Virginia Vestoff (d. 1982) is stunning. Yes, the same Virginia Vestoff who appeared in DARK SHADOWS.
