  • have to pay people a fair wage so that increase is reflected in the price and land rover is a relatively small company.

  • why there are so expansive , is nothing special ?

  • @S14VOV made by english people.

  • @Mockingbird5150

    so ......?????

  • i would rather buy a land rover rather than a mercedes.

  • this guy is missing the point !! its the worlds best off roader not a road car

  • I'm 17 and there is no other vehicle out there I would want more.

  • @TheZenPerspective exactly the same for me !!!

  • @TheZenPerspective I have an 1951 model at my grandparents farm :D best toy EVER!

  • @TheZenPerspective Good man.

  • JEEP'S BODY!?!?!

    It's a F*Cking Landrover

  • Correction, more off road capable SUV's are commonly known as "jeeps" in Europe and do not necessarily refer to the Jeep brand but as a category for its capablilities.

  • jeeps body he said f f s

  • Defender is a legend.

Now it has ABS, TCS, leather heated seats and air conditioning. But no airbags?!

Maybe it's time for Land Rover to change the Defender just a little bit to put them if they want to sold them overseas.

Its incredible lack of reliability over the years, its boring Ford engine are others reasons not to buy it.

Last but not least, the best reason to not go to Land Rover reseller is the price you pay for what you get.

I'd rather spend it on a Toyota LCruiser or Mitsubishi Pajero

  • Jeep? FUCK YOU YAH TWAT! IT'S A BLEEDIN LAND ROVER!

  • slow in 1st gear? well isnt that what 1st gear is for? as it can comfortably tow 4 tonnes it needs a low 1st to shift that sort of load on a steep hill. easy solution in every day driving without a heavy trailer is start in 2nd gear, forget about 1st. my 200tdi drives a lot better starting in 2nd, it gets in its stride a lot nicer.

poor turning circle? on a 90? who are you kidding. mine turns on a penny and i have large tyres. in reverse it turns very tight...sometimes too tight when parking

  • @jumbodoug More than 11 meters isn't appropriate. But you wouldn't buy a Defender for its on-road capabilities.

  • he forgot to say "not to mention, the defender looks awsome, and at the £xxx its cheaper then mos of its rivals"

  • this guy is reviewing it like it a car it is a working suv

  • Jeep is a very common name for any offroad vehicle when you get outside of the US.

  • The spare wheels on the back door for safety. Its been on the back door for the last 30 years. Who is this fuckin dick?

  • @Harker436 The retard fucking sounds like he's reading all the spec out of the LR brochure. What a dick. Bet he hasn't even drove an old 200 or know what one is.

  • @Harker436 I thought that. It was so fucking long ago they had them on the bonnet, where has he been for the past 30/35 years?

  • @Harker436 its amazingly an aussie safty thing from when the defender was battleing toyota for market in the 80s

  • What's a Defender review without some heavy off-road shots?

  • It dosen't matter about the turning circle because most of them are used by farmers and gamekeepers so you have an entire field to turn around

  • I had no idea they still made defenders. Thats one heck of a wheeler! Love it..

  • BEST4XFAR

    Dr John

    Carsanook

    Bangkok

  • Hey, please don't call a Land Rover a jeep. - that's below the belt dude !

  • All the negative things he points out are the things that Land Rover owners love about their vehicles!!

  • 0.48 - it's not a Jeep!

  • CO2 emissions are high? LIKE I CARE!!!! DIGGING THE RIBBOTS AND METAL EVERYWHERE

  • CO2 emissions are high? LIKE I CARE!!!! DIGGING THE RIBBOTS AND METAL EVERYWAHERE

  • CO2 emissions are high? LIKE I CARE!!!!

  • very nice car

  • It's not for supermarket car parks or mamby pamby soft car salesmen types.

If you have one, you love it. every part on the older models you can take apart and fix.

The more you ponce about trying to get the Landi to suit the modern day softys the more you will have to pay to get them serviced or fixed. I don't need air con or plastic facia like a viva thank you. Defender 90 300TDI Owner.

  • my grandpa owns this car at summer time we go off-roading

  • ITS A DEFENDER NOT A JEEP U MONGALOID!

  • Why not just get a Jeep Wrangler JK Rubicon with a hard top? It's just as rugged and can go anywhere this one can.

  • jeep's body !

  • if its a td5 it will NOT be slow and why would you drive a defender to the supermarket

  • @kenny123yeha so true, but when you do go to the supermarket, people shit themselves and get out of your way! In one of these you rule the road! XD

  • The driving position is bad '!

  • Here are the reasons Defenders are superior to Series rovers: Coil springs give slightly higher ground clearance; slightly more comfortable ride; V-8 engine gives much more power; better (almost normal) highway speeds;slightly mopre comfortable interior; Possibility of air conditioning.

  • Continued:

Here are the reasons SERIES rovers are superior to Defenders: Stronger body due to bulkhead behind seats; body cappings and bumpers, windshield are galvanized - NOT painted steel; higher quality, true Birmabrite aluminum (17% magnesium); sliding windows for speed of opening; oil bath air filter; front and rear PTO; can start w/ hand crank; 4.72:1 diffs; split windhield allowing EASY replacement when broken; very dependable, SIMPLE and reliable drivetrain...NOT so for Defender.

  • i own a 1996 rover mini cooper 1.3i and want 1 of these badly , i cant see them bin much slower lol

  • Think again

  • I still cannot figure why these are so expensive! I'd own one without hesitation if it weren't for the price.

  • @mikeMBW probably for what you can put them through.

  • thing about the fuel price actually

  • what an idiot how can he refer to a defender as a jeep? its a fucking land rover!!! not a pussy jeep wagon!

  • @Ramon25D same thing

  • @Ramon25D respect jeeps BASTARD

  • @arospeed169 fuck you, land rover all the way

  • @Landy2landsend JEEPS CAME FIRST , WITHOUT JEEP LANDROVER WOULD NOT EXIST , YOU TARD!!!!!

  • @arospeed169 Incorrect, jeep came first because the US stole the idea/concept from the brittish designer who came up with it, You RETARD

(Tard isn't a word you tit)

  • @Landy2landsend HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH ASSHOLE ! land rover was invented by Maurice Wilks (former rover motor company chief engineer)in 1948 who owned a willys jeep and loved it so much that he decided to invent his own so it will be possible to get part supplies in case it broke up. land rovers wouldn't exist without the american army which needed a reconnasaince car

    KISS MY ASS

  • @arospeed169 but the willys jeep is shit off road, search the youtube videos to see defenders getting up muddy hills easier than jeeps, you inbreed

  • @arospeed169 piss off

  • @Ramon25D you do realize that the first rovers where based on jeeps frame engine and tranny........or are you the idiot?

  • @marcm11389 - Aye, they were based on the the Willys MB US Army Jeep.

  • @Ramon25D Hey dude, in the US Jeep is a brand name, anywhere else it refers to a an offroad type vehicle, like land Rovers, Jeeps etc

  • @dproffessa anywhere else where? I live in a third world country and everybody manages to know what is a jeep and what is a land rover and what is an fj, a samurai etc.

  • @Ramon25D it performs on par with a wrangler.

  • @Jormungandr69 it does not, they are fit for the same purpose but engineering and building of the vehicles are different, so is the handling.

  • @Ramon25D jeep is a common term in Europe and it means offroader

  • @posro1988 I have been to europe, you are full of shit

  • @Ramon25D nice to hear you left

  • @posro1988 ye piss off wanker

  • @Ramon25D XD

  • @Ramon25D Well said

  • @Ramon25D

that's what I say to everybody!

  • @Ramon25D I am wondering if he refers it as an SUV. I overheard in Europe they call SUV's Jeeps. Many companies don't like this categorization as it calls reference to the actual Jeep Brand.

  • i got a hummer h1 and i would really like a defender. but they dont sell them around here [:(

p.s. does anyone know if the defender is diesel? (i run my hummer on used french fry oil. but it only works on diesel engines.)

  • @goober239 You do not have a hummer H1 and you are an idiot.

  • Idiot or not, i want a Defender.

    So far, i got a Jeep Wrangler, Hummer H1, a Mercedes-Benz Unimog, and a 1969 Chevy Camero big-block.

But dispite all these, i REALLY want a Land Rover. I LOVE European cars.

  • @goober239 you manage to have the money to have all those cars, and still make such stupid questions? google is so powerful for a reason, USE it!

  • They only sell diesel defenders these days, lots of people run landys on old frying oil too - good idea as its loads cheaper.

  • @sjpb1982 Id like to know how they do that, to make my alndy an oil runner

  • @CPB0793

I want one because here in America, we have LOTS of tree huggers. And I need a what they call a "green" car (f*cking hate that word (not color)) just to keep them off my ass.

But that is not the only reason. I just like European cars! Way better quality.

PS: did you know that some states here are trying to illegalize the Hummer? Truthfully, i get around 14 mpg on highway. In city, 8mpg. Off-road, 2-7mpg.

An xxx-large dumptruck gets 3 gallons/mile. (thought i put that out there :)

  • Why did u come on this video then. U must be a complete retard to think that the H1 is better than Defender. Fuck off with your american heaps of shite!

  • @daverave2204 all the way mate, Defender The Best4x4xFar

  • @goober239

WTF is it diesel?! How can you have access to youtube and not the internet?! You lazy dill. BTW its a fricking diesel!

  • @falseflag545

well i know now. but i cant still find any Landrover Dealer. (goddamnit)

p.s. to some of those "haters":: im NOT comparing the hummer h1 to the landrover.

  • @goober239

since 1998 all defenders are diesels ;)

  • @goober239 most defenders are deisel

  • @goober239 defender is 2.4 diesel of ford

  • @Lucazedder Ford? I thought Landrovers made their own engines. Not that it matters. :)

  • @goober239 The Ford engine was forced upon the defender so they could pass new regulations, Land Rover did modify them so they could run on crap fuel in some of the worser countries.

  • @goober239 It's a diesel, yes.

Sadly, they don't sell new Defenders in the US due to the fact it has no airbags, but you can get old Land Rover 110's or 90's (pretty much an old Defender without the name) that has been rebuilt and fixed so it is as new, and it is considered a "Classic" vehicle and can be imported.

These often have petrol V8 engines though, but you could get a diesel one imported if that's what you need.

Any other questions, just ask and I'll be happy to help1

  • @goober239 yeah it's diesel only

  • @goober239 Land Rover got rid of the petrol V8 Defenders years ago. They are all diesel now. The ones sold by Land Rover North America were V8s, unfortunately.

  • @NAEP3K2 yea, about a hundred other people said the same. XD

  • @goober239 yeah they do have diesel models I have a 20 year old turbo diesel and it is amazing!!

  • @goober239 they have not sold defenders in the us market in over 10 yrs yes it is diesel lovely engines.

  • @goober239 Alright mate, yes alot of Defenders are diesel, 2.4 & 2.5 litres are always diesel but if you get a V8 then its obviously petrol.

Diesels are decent runners because they're less thirsty but still pull well and are capable offroad.

  • @RoadRunnerDrummerJD can't find any here in ohio. really wish i could.

  • @goober239 yes you can get them in diesel

  • @goober239 Yeh its diesel :)

  • @goober239 its diesel they no longer make a petrol

  • @goober239 wait if you have a diesel engine it runs on both diesel and french fry oil at the same time?

  • @goober239

How do you run your Hummer on Fry oil? Any special modification?

  • @goober239 yes 2.5 tdi

  • @goober239 is diesel, new one has ford transit van motor

  • what a shit job of a review. try fifth gear land rover defender. the guy who does that review has actualy seen a landy.

  • this guys a bit harsh....they're really not that bad, would never want to drive anything different, makes driving fun!!!

  • yes i bet he does know that JEEP is a brand but everyone knows as i do that the Land Rover is a much better rig and he probably just refered to it as a jeep for its 4x4 capability.

  • naa jeep's are much better

  • Fuck off u cock!!

  • @ATeam125 jeeps are shite

  • The guy calld the defender "jeep" at 0:50...doesn't he know Jeep is a brand??

  • compliment that you know that. take it easy.

  • I'm remarking about the fact that a "professional" reviewer should know the difference...

  • "jeep" usually means 4x4 in most of europe

  • half a meter of water? and the rest lol

  • holy shit this mans voice is the most boring thing ever
