I like this video because you show what happens immediately after the experience. It is very helpful. I got sprayed last Monday in 110 degree heat in Oklahoma. I listened to what those with experience said to do and I strictly adhered to their words of wisdom. I did not rub my eyes, and I opened them as much as possible during the short obstacle course. I kept my eyes open while I flushed them with the water hose and i rinsed them with baby shampoo. The worst was over in less than an hour.

its best if u do not use water until u go home to take a shower which was about 45 min to an hour after the paie was almost gone. when i actually took a shower i washed my face with dawn dish soap 3 times before i stepped into the shower just because i didnt want it to run down into any worse places...i heard that sucks dudes and chics. the water did reactivate it but not as bad and only for like 20 min after that it was gone for good. but anyways that shit sucks balls.

The Baby Shampoo lifts & washes away the OC oils and is usable on the eyes. Distlled water does not have the residual chemicals(chlorine, etc.) & minerals that tap or hose water have, which can further irritation. The Sugar helps neutralize the burning because of the Bases neutrilizing Acids/Chemicals effect.

@thom6998 It's kinda like taking really hot Indian food and smearing it all over your face... then grinding it in your eyes :( Not fun, won't lie. But be sure to keep blinking even when it feels like your eyes won't open. If I have to recommend anything it would be to get a squirt bottle and mix baby shampoo with water. Once you can start to open our eyes fully, close them and squirt all over your eyelids and pat dry. Worked wonders. Didn't get to try milk but herd good things.

Shit man when your shot with bear mace (don't know specs sorry) it's hurts so bad. Best advice is to fill a big bowl full of milk and dunk your face in it with your eyes open and rolling around about 150 times and then take a cold shower. The pain is so strong. Lol poor bears. Every police training video I see they use water. They should really use milk if their really trying to take the pain away.
@XxXEXOPLAYERXxX i've never been pepper sprayed, but i do wear contacts; when getting something in your eye while wearing contacts it hurts much more than without, so i would think that it would hurt worse with them being in and getting sprayed. also coming from a more medical standpoint, you'd probably want to get the contacts out asap since the spray would be trapped in between the lens and your eyeball, it could probably cause more damage as well as pain.

@PetefukkinMoore Hmmm, well have you tried soaking them just in contact solution? Maybe try soaking them in milk, then let em sit in contact solution. Also the swordnerd fella has the right idea with baby shampoo cause that's what I use whenever I have any sort of pink eye or eye irritation; so perhaps wash you lenses with baby shampoo and rinse with water, but you probably want to let those so in contact solution after because water usually dries lenses out.
A couple more tips, I've had to go through this training too. Make sure when you're getting it off your face, that you DAB with a paper towel or washcloth rather than wiping or scrubbing; this prevents it from being pushed into your eyes or pores, where it hurts the most and lasts the longest. Try a fan or facing into a breeze for the first 15 minutes or so, and start with a dry towel instead of a damp one; water will cause reflash, and you want as much as possible off first.
Got Oc'd at Alex Tech for law enforcement training and all i have to say is baby shampoo doesn't do a whole lot of anything. My only advice would be to get a fan and set it up close to your face and wait it out.

Did this during my Police Training in the UK on Saturday. By FAR the most painful experience of my life. Took 2 cold showers to get rid of it all, any hot water at all and it felt like my face was on fire.
just did this today, best advice, dont touch your face at all, find shade and stand towards the wind, dont dont dont rub your eyes. 12 hours after being sprayed I washed my face and it reactivated, not as bad but still isnt fun. Good luck to anyone that has to do this.
I did this yesterday with Fox's 5.3, and its supposed to be the most advanced pepper spray as of yet with 5.3 SHU, hence the name. I can honestly say I was in intense pain for a good hour and a half. Not fun.
BS! it more than likely will make them use it more since they had to suffer through it, not to mention it's still questionable as to it's effects on someone with Asthma or C.O.P.D. from what I understand and many people may not even know they have it.
Perhaps they should have to get shot too?
Also considering that officers are able to defend themsleves to some degree after the spray seems to show just how ineffective it is.
All good advice. I just had my first Pepper Spray experience. It hurt much more than I expected. Lets just say I didn't know pain like this! However, it went away in about 30 minutes. But then I went home to take a shower and it fired up again. The thing that worked best for me was to get outside where the air is moving and just let the air dry out your eyes and face. I was lucky, it was windy and cold when I did mine. It just plain sucks. No other way around it.
It may sound wierd or disgusting but a very effective way of getting it out as well as CS gas is to use lemon juice on your eyes and face and if you are daring and ran out of lemon juice you can also use urine to calm the burning.Just make sure its your own ! Lolz.- No pain no gain .
I never have either, the worst I've had to deal with are cops that were frustrated because they're sick of driving out to my neighborhood for nothing, because the old folks call the police for literally ANYTHING.

I remember when I was 9 I got sprayed but it didn't hit my face it hit my right shoulder. even that little amount was enough to get into my Ear somehow and cause an extreme painful experience I will never forget.

fyi beer cuts the burn perfectly! wash with it not drinking it, that tends to attract pepper spray!
the oil base is alcohol soluble. vodka or rubbing alcohol works better. and btw, if you want this stuff for defense purposes, get the triple action, it has OC, tear gas, and a UV dye and works much better.
i had to get sprayed in order to carry it. saber red 18% could be the worst experience of my life. what i found worked pretty good is to scrub your face with dawn dish soap the set in front of a good fan and holdyour eyes open. helps alot.
i found a fan to be the best thing to help comfort the pain.. pretty much does the same thing that water does but without the reactivation of the spray.
When getting OC'd, your reaction has a lot to do with attitude. Yes, you will have trouble breathing regardless, but if you hyper-ventilate it's because you're panicking.
Also, I would recommend washing well every hour or so until you get all that crap out of your eyes/face. Yes, everytime the water hits you, it's going to burn. But everytime you wash, it's going to burn less and less...and washing is the only way to clean it off.

Tip: just think about your breathing. Don't know about the US, but here in The Netherlands we have eye-showers at school. But when you try to clean your eyes, all the water goies into your mouth as well. I started hyperventilating. So think of that!
thank you for this video. you forgot to mention, ONE that the chemical in onions neutralizes the effects of tear gas. rub it on your skin and chew on it. Second NEVER rinse with hot or warm water. The heat causes the oil to vaporize and restarts the process. Always use cold water to wash. This is knowledge gained from numerous experiences with tear gas and pepper spray at numerous protests... I'm glad a protester and a cop finally found some common ground! =) hahaha

I am in the military and when we got ours they made us line up and sprayed us just shot us and said, "NEXT!" you shoulda seem my fellows. 2 passed out cus it was really sunny out. Thankfully thats the only thing they made us do that day. But, the tear gas was way worse there was a step right out of the tear gas room and several of us fell.

just did this today, best advice, dont touch your face at all, find shade and stand towards the wind, dont dont dont rub your eyes. 12 hours after being sprayed I washed my face and it reactivated, not as bad but still isnt fun. Good luck to anyone that has to do this.

I did this yesterday with Fox's 5.3, and its supposed to be the most advanced pepper spray as of yet with 5.3 SHU, hence the name. I can honestly say I was in intense pain for a good hour and a half. Not fun.

BS! it more than likely will make them use it more since they had to suffer through it, not to mention it's still questionable as to it's effects on someone with Asthma or C.O.P.D. from what I understand and many people may not even know they have it.
Perhaps they should have to get shot too?
Also considering that officers are able to defend themsleves to some degree after the spray seems to show just how ineffective it is.

All good advice. I just had my first Pepper Spray experience. It hurt much more than I expected. Lets just say I didn't know pain like this! However, it went away in about 30 minutes. But then I went home to take a shower and it fired up again. The thing that worked best for me was to get outside where the air is moving and just let the air dry out your eyes and face. I was lucky, it was windy and cold when I did mine. It just plain sucks. No other way around it.

It may sound wierd or disgusting but a very effective way of getting it out as well as CS gas is to use lemon juice on your eyes and face and if you are daring and ran out of lemon juice you can also use urine to calm the burning.Just make sure its your own ! Lolz.- No pain no gain .

I just got sprayed tonight by some jack asses....... i tryed taking a shower but you were right, after a while it started to sting like a bitch........ so i started rolling on the ground grind my teeth and pounding on the walls........ but after about half an hour.... i felt much better..... my arm still stings a little bit though..... oh well........ :P

I remember when I was 9 I got sprayed but it didn't hit my face it hit my right shoulder. even that little amount was enough to get into my Ear somehow and cause an extreme painful experience I will never forget.
I can't imagine taking a direct hit to the face with that stuff!

the oil base is alcohol soluble. vodka or rubbing alcohol works better. and btw, if you want this stuff for defense purposes, get the triple action, it has OC, tear gas, and a UV dye and works much better.

i had to get sprayed in order to carry it. saber red 18% could be the worst experience of my life. what i found worked pretty good is to scrub your face with dawn dish soap the set in front of a good fan and holdyour eyes open. helps alot.

When getting OC'd, your reaction has a lot to do with attitude. Yes, you will have trouble breathing regardless, but if you hyper-ventilate it's because you're panicking.
Also, I would recommend washing well every hour or so until you get all that crap out of your eyes/face. Yes, everytime the water hits you, it's going to burn. But everytime you wash, it's going to burn less and less...and washing is the only way to clean it off.

Tip: just think about your breathing. Don't know about the US, but here in The Netherlands we have eye-showers at school. But when you try to clean your eyes, all the water goies into your mouth as well. I started hyperventilating. So think of that!

thank you for this video. you forgot to mention, ONE that the chemical in onions neutralizes the effects of tear gas. rub it on your skin and chew on it. Second NEVER rinse with hot or warm water. The heat causes the oil to vaporize and restarts the process. Always use cold water to wash. This is knowledge gained from numerous experiences with tear gas and pepper spray at numerous protests... I'm glad a protester and a cop finally found some common ground! =) hahaha

??? I was with A LOT of people in a bar in NO during M-Gras around 4 AM in 1993. Staff or police told us to clear out. We were in back so we found out later than most. When walking out I was taken aback by smoky stuff that made my eyes close up & water and I thought I would swallow my tongue more than once. People scattered. I was standing there stunned & trying to pry my eyes open & to breath when a guy pulled me under a car. I thought it was tear gas but we never found out. Thoughts?

I have to say, I feel your pain!! I am in the military and when we got ours they made us line up and sprayed us just shot us and said, "NEXT!" you shoulda seem my fellows. 2 passed out cus it was really sunny out. Thankfully thats the only thing they made us do that day. But, the tear gas was way worse there was a step right out of the tear gas room and several of us fell.
