Traviata - Ms. Netrebko displayed ample power, coloratura bravura with a marvelous tone Having recently heard Natalie Dessay sing Sempre Libera at the Met Gala, one was impressed by the legato nature of Netrebko's portray in contrast to Dessay's intentional staccato, fragmented phrasing interpretation. Having also seen photos of Fleming in her current Violetta at the ROH, one can only marvel at Netrebko's resilience, endurance and commitment to bel canto opera.

I've just noticed on the DG website that there is a complete recording of this coming in January with Anna and Elina Garanca!!!! Does anyone know anything about it? Is is studio or live recording? I'm looking forward to it either way as this performance with Joyce di Donato is sublime :)

c'est tout à fait vrai, je suis d'accord avec ça... d'ailleurs si me souviens bien il y a un autre opéra qui normalement a été écrit pour un lirico spinto c'est lucia et pourtant peu de lirico spinto ont la chance de le chanter c'est bien dommage

Commentaire surprenant car M.-F. García, surnommée la Malibran a chanté Amina dans la Somnambula. Même si la tessiture de sa voix était étendue elle demeurait mezzo. Ne pas chanter Bellini parce que lon nest pas colorature na pas de sens (cf. Bartoli dans Norma etc.). Certes, le chant de la Netrebko est perfectible mais ce quelle a produit avec DiDonato durant les 3 spectacles que jai suivi était exceptionnel et je navais pas entendu pareil Bel canto à Paris depuis Anderson et Caballe.

j'ai entendu Anderson en concert A Bordeaux le 27 septembre, elle est toujours divine malgré l'age. Netrebko a chanté aussi à Bordeaux avant de devenir star, avec villazon. j'était surpris par sa beauté et sa puissante voix et c'est tout ce qu'elle a, bon beaucoup de marketing aussi. voix puissant et "monocorde", pas de nuances nécessaires a Guliete.j'attends bartoli chanter norma en direct, je ne la crois pas capable.....on verra!!!

Voilà un commentaire ô combien judicieux. La voix est effectivement perfectible, mais quel timbre splendide, chaud, capable de mille nuances. Rare, très rare, comme Anderson et Caballe, que j'ai très souvent entendues à la scène. Attendons sa Lucia au Met à la fin de ce mois. Et si le pari est tenu... enfin un Vraie Lucia, lyrique dramatique et colorature ! Salutations.

@QUETZALCOM J'ai ecouté Bartoli en direct chanter a Norma et elle n'est pas bien de tout. Un enregistrement on peux le travailler et repeter jusqu'a qu'il passe mais le direct c'est une autre chose. Bellini n'est pas pour tout le monde.

@genfox3. Tout à fait d'accord, Bellini par Bartoli ce n'est vraiment pas terrible que ce soit au disque ou en live. La Somnambule est particulièrement massacrée. Quant à Netrebko même si elle n'est pas une belcantiste pur jus ce qu'elle produit ici ou dans Donizetti est superlatif (Lucia entre autre) et apporte une touche personnelle, tant par son chant que par sa qualité d’actrice inégalée. J'attends avec intérêt sa prise de rôle en avril 2011 d'Anna Bolena (sold out depuis mai 2010).

J'étais à la représentation du 8 juin (la dernière qu'a chantée Netrebko), et effectivement c'était exceptionnel, mieux, semble-t-il, que fin mai. Deux petites choses cependant : non seulement, ne pas faire de coloratures n'est pas un crime de lèse-bel canto (la tradition les impose, pas le compositeur), mais en plus Netrebko en fait -il suffit d'écouter toute la reprise, à partir de 8' : ça diffère du début, et ce sont des coloratures.

Je vous félicite, dans la musique comme dans la vie tout est question de gouts. Pas de coloratures mais Giuletta peut être chanté quand même( pas Amina de sonnambule, à ecouter " ah non credea mirarti," pour voir colorature). Plus j'écoute Netrebko moins elle m plait, voix puissante mais froide, sans nuances, perfectible, monocorde, elle a tendance à crier, on verra si dans quelques années on continue à parler d'elle.....trop populiste

Pas d'accord, du tout. Tu peux même dire que sa voix te semble monocorde, mais froide?? Moi je crois qu'elle est une excelente chanteuse, et s'elle améliore encore en tout ce que lui reste de carrière, elle deviendra une grande.

Et je crois aussi que Giulietta s'adapte parfaitement a sa voix, et même s'elle n'est pas une coloratura, ce rôl est plus lyrique que coloratura.

E la Norma della Bartoli... Dio ce ne scampi e liberi!
