Awesome. Takes me back to being a sprogg in training down in Lympstone.....those were the days..funniest thing is..we thought it was hell on earth untill we passed out and got our green lids..i remember saying "i could do that again" and a member of DS...Cpl Linnley said to me "oh yeah Brown..fancy doing it over again" with a sadistic grin and i expressely said "fuck no" haha. Army of the nile was played on our pass out in 1997...hearts of oak was also. Still serving now after nearly 13 years.
And you all know what..i still love being an RM Commando as much today as i did then if not more. Love it...good times and more to come...more youngsters should try their hand. They dont know what they are missing.
alford(major ricketts R.M) wrote 18 marches over a period of about 30 years..sousa wrote approx. 130. a few more great marches were written by leo stanley ,royal corps of signals, who was in fact major ricketts brother. MARTY
not in a life of sundays are wespoint better than our lads. I swear to god even now 13 years on into my career as a Royal Marines Commando when these guys start up.....well...im only 5'7 tall but i feel like im 20 feet tall when these chords hit my ears. chest out chin up..pomp.....arrogance....and the sound of my old drill instructor from when i was in training uttering..in time with the bass drum beat "thats it lads...HEADS....SHOULDERS...HEELS" HAHA....SUPERB.

@ERICGOBYEA Small digi camera recordings tend to be unbalanced. Even more mixed with Youtube quality. I think such a great band would be balanced! ;)

they always do, if you can hear them :p
most of the bass trombone players don't use how they should use it... If you play on a bass trombone, try to blow it into a straight pipe!

I love Alfords marches, in my opinion they are better than Sousa,s however Sousa did write dozens whereas Alford , I understand , only wrota few.
