yeah, coming from someone FROM Naugatuck, I've been/practiced in the gym before, including Thunder in the Valley, and well.. hiltonius is absolutely correct!
yeah well.... there are a number of factors at play here. the gym itself is hardly an optimal acoustical environment. i'm sitting pretty low in the stands, so the line to the drum line is pretty much obstructed by the rest of the band, physically. the drums did sound a bit more present in the gym than on the recording - but still, for that room, the winds (pointing forward) had no trouble drowning out the drum line, which was in the back and radiates equally in all directions.
the pit need emotion....
