  • @whitenoiseism Thanks for posting! Great album and song! Al Foster, Darryl "The Munch" Jones and John Scofield kick ass on all of these cuts! A lot of Jazz "snobs/purists" don't care for the stuff Miles was doing towards the end of his career but I really like the way his music constantly changed and evolved. For some reason as much as I love all of the players that were on the album and it was hailed as "groundbreaking", I've just never been able to get my head wrapped around "Bitches Brew".

  • @FunkinItUpaBit Wow. Really? Well, understand that Bitches Brew is not Jazz, nor is it rock or anything else really. It's what Miles called "directions in Music". plain and simple. It's like a soundtrack to life itself with turmoil, and tranquility fighting for equal time. Give it another try. Maybe when you're out driving in your car late at night or walking through the woods or if you're really upset about something. It's really not as free form and chaotic as it seems after a while.

  • @RubHerSoul1 I definitely agree that there's no way to categorize "Bitches Brew"! I haven't listened to it in a long time so I'll take you're advice and give it another shot. I have a pristine vinyl copy so I'll dust off the old turntable and try to listen with an open mind. "Tranquility & turmoil fighting for equal time" is a great description. I love plenty of other music that is just as "chaotic" so maybe you're right in that it's just a "mental block"! Can never get enough of Miles! Lol!

  • @FunkinItUpaBit What? You say you have a mint vinyl copy?!? YOU'RE A GOOD MAN,CHARLIE BROWN! That's the only way to listen to music as far as I'm concerned! Wait for a nice rainy day. Find a small project to do inside the house. Play BB in the background and before you know it, you'll be hooked. Next time after that, try getting a pipe and some slippers and a nice easy chair to relax in and play it around 2:00 in the morning. Good for what ails ya!

  • @RubHerSoul1 Lol! I agree...it's pretty tough to beat all of the subtle nuances of music on vinyl! There's a "warmth" to it that just gets lost during digital mastering.

  • Not my kind of music but I like it! =D
