Wilson makes a good point, solidarity confers an evolutionary advantage only as much as wiping out our enemies.... What happened to the Neanderthals again?
What is highly irritating Wilson's condescending comments about the impossibility of concepts like "backsliding" in an athiestic worldview. Whence cometh the idea of some things being progress and others regress? Every single human being gets to decide. We tend to decide in the same way. But more to the point, he denies human beings the enobling responsibility of *deciding for themselves* what's right and wrong, etc. It's more noble in god's absence--for all he does is command and threaten.
I have to give Wilson credit for his point about terms like "backsliding" being incoherent in evolution. At least he seems relatively intelligent. Unfortunately, he never addresses the obvious point Hitchens made about his beliefs simply not being true.
haha, they look like beefy crisps or potato chips - if youre an american. hitchens game is water tight except when it comes to an explanation for the origin of morality in an godless universe, which wilson keeps challenging him on. its really not that challenging though: we evolved to be moral animals as acts we now consider immoral were maladaptive in our ancestral past. like rape! immoral, by and large not beneficial to our ancestors.
Raping eachother and murdering children will not allow us to flourish as a species. It isnt wise to do these acts.

Once again Hitchens DESTROYS the arguments of this half-wit Christian who is so stupified he cannot retort. Hitchens is 99-0.
