Thank you for posting this on youtube Jude. Clarence Wijewardena wrote 'Piyaneni' as a tribute to my late grandfather- Reverend Canon Ivan Corea - Clarence and Annesley met my grandfather in 1967. I was present at the original recording at Auggie Ranaweera's recording studio in Bambalapitiya in 1972. Helen Lucas played the organ. This is a beautiful, stunning, moving song it evokes nostalgic memories of childhood and we all think of our fathers when we listen to 'Piyaneni.' Ivan
Hi Palitha, thanks for the information. You are right about Vernon Corea behind Clarence and Moonstones. Unfortunately, I could not get hold of the original version that you played. This is the CD/Cassette version.
What a fitting tribute to a great man. I am very impressed by the pictures you have included in this.Great stuff and many thanks for stirring up some good memories.
Thanx a lot for posting such great things.. Clarence is my favorite.. The best ever.. His creations are eternal. Thanx again mate..

Typical Clarence melody, Thanks for the Back ground info, I think it was Vernon Corea who was behind Clarence and moonstones.
Thanks for upload.
Clarence Aiya recorded this again for Annesley way back in the 80's, I too played for that recording, but I am not sure whether this is the same.
I played sticks which was very prominent in that recording.
