Hate to be "that guy", but since an episode of "The X-Files" is clearly playing on a TV in an episode of Fringe, it's obviously just a show in that universe. The "X Designation" was a not too subtle nod, not a suggestion Mulder & Scully are running around in the world of Fringe.
Great job - brilliant to find so many of the same shots. Fringe's parallel's with the X-Files don't just stop at the fourth wall, tragically, and I remain trepidatious about whether and when it will go to shit. It broke my heart when the X-Files did.
It's entirely possible they're in the same universe.
In "A New Day In The Old Town" Broyles' superiors complain about how "the old X division and your 'Fringe' investigations have been indulgences in the federal budget for over half a century."
Amazing! I particularly love that you managed to get a shot of Peter and Olivia with guns/torch. Also, the ghost thing on the monitor was a nice touch. Awesome stuff!
