Filmul este realizat in perioada 1948-1950 daca stam sa ne luam dupa uniformele care se observa. Trupe calari a existat si dupa desfiintarea cavalerieriei ca arma la sfarsitul anilor '50. Ca de exemplu granicerii care au renuntat la cai odata cu desfiintarea lor la sfarsitul anilor 90, odata cu crearea Politiei de Frontiera, sau vanatorii de munte care cred ca inca mai detin statii de monta.

Cavaleria este una dintre cele mai importante arme. In general ea hotaraste victoria unei batalii. O armata, oricat de puternica ar fi, daca este lipsita de cavalerie nu poate realiza contratacuri, neavand mobilitate suficienta. Acest lucru s-a vazut clar in razboaiele armatei romane cu partii.

Din ce perioada sunt imaginile?

La inceputul razboiului existau 26 regimente de cavalerie in Armata Romana: 12 regimente de rosiori, 13 de calarasi si Regimentul de Garda Calare. Denumirile erau datau din secolul XIX, cand rosiroii formau trupele regulate, elita cavaleriei, iar calarasii formau cavaleria teritoriala. Diferentele dintre cele doua tipuri de unitati insa disparusera inainte de primul razboi mondial.
