SO his finals opponent won by forfeit; his finals opponent, by an amazing coincidence, hailed from Yugoslavia... just like the ref that DQ's Holyfield!

I remember it well. After the disappointment of the Cubans not turning up to renew the rivalry from 1976, I knew it would be an American whitewash, which was how it turned out. Kevin Barry is New Zealand's Greatest boxing coach. He is so good he makes his living as a boxing trainer in the boxing capital of the world, Vegas. There was nothing Kevin could of done about the decision, it was totally in the hands of the ref. He may have been losing the fight but so would most of the world against Evander who went on to become the heavy weight champ of the world. I guess you look at where they are both today. You're wrong. Evender didn't rob himself. Watch the vidoe and you will see that as Evender throws the combo that knocked him out, the ref is just standing there watching. Check the rulebook. The ref is supposed to loudly shout "break!" and move between the fighters to separate them. The ref screwed up, and in subsequent interviews, he admitted as much. Evender would have won the gold. He was robbed.

Honmatres, you are correct in stating that the ref repeatedly warned Holyfield for hitting after being instructed to "stop", and in fact, so was Barry. It was 4 times each for that foul, and both were warned for other things in the fight, as well.

Bigdatut, It's a lot easier to hear without the narrator talking over it, but the ref did clearly shout "stop!" twice in the midst of that exchange, with the 1st instruction to do so happening about a second or two before that final punch landed.
