much respect to the 86 celtics, but this is the best team of all time. come on son. be real. harper on ainge? jordan vs dj? rodman vs mchale? pippen vs bird? come on son.......it's close, but it ain't that close ya mean.
i think jordan was an underrated 3 pt shooter. look at that long range bomb at 4:23. that had to be from about 27 feet away. he could do it all but didnt jack up dumb shots when he wasnt hitting or constantly shooting over double and triple teams.
Look at the classic Rodman screen at 4:10 to get MJ a WIDE OPEN jumper, lol. He was so good at selling that move when the defenders switched on Michael's screens. That was an area he definitely was FAR better at than Horace Grant.
man i remember those days the NBA was so different. More physical and teamwork and defense was stressed. Jordan was just a monster dude wasn't human. i wish the NBA now was like it was back then. These younger players complain about the weak fouls the commit. Anyone remember the jordan rules lol.
@Sevensignz1 Absolutely! Just another testament to why he is the GOAT in any sport. Those Piston teams were more dominant than people realize, but not when MJ was in town! Sam Smith's book The Jordan Rules is a great read for any MJ/Bulls fan. A lot of people do the 'what if he didn't retire,' and we all know the Bulls would have won 8 in a row...but people forget that in 1990 the Pistons needed ALL 7 games to beat a VERY young Bulls team then crushed Portland. COULD have been 9 in a row!
@frusionnn That's James Edwards! He was a journeyman in the NBA and played BACKUP to backup at center for the Bulls that year. I think he played for like 8 teams - he was actually part of the Pistons championship teams in 89 and 90.
@KinnereyB appreciate it! it's funny how underrated he is. I just checked him & he played for 19 years (1977-1996) & had 3 rings but 0 All-Star appearances.
@jriv27 if you're a "man of God" refering to anyone else besides Jesus as God is almost idolatry or may very well be idolatry. I don't care how good a basketball player jordan was. it bugs me to read comments after comments of people refering to jordan as God on the baskteball court. i usually don't say anything, but if you're "a man of God" you won't say stuff like that. now that being said, is jordan the best basketball player in nba history? he is in my opinion.
@NYCGERSON777 I get were your coming from and I completly agree with you, I am truly a man of God and I apologize for that and yes Michael Jordan is the greatest of all time and the best in NBA history.
LMAO I remember this idiot Brickowski, brings back fond memories of the Bulls and Jordan, Rodman was such a great character, this team was the most difficult to beat in the NBA and would be today as well. They would destroy Kobe and the Lakers, would be a great match against Lebron and Shaq with Cleveland, I could imagine "The Shot" part 3, although without Ehlo it just wouldn't be the same.
@john5246 Destroy Kobe and the Lakers who are playing in their 3rd straight final? But would be a good match against Lebron and Shaq who are on vacation watching the finals at home? Okay....
Just a testament to how great Jordan was. Jordan "only" averaged 28 points per game during the series, and that was considered an off series for his standards. Can you freakin imagine how great you have to be to average 28 points per game during the series and it be considered struggling? Damn. Jordan is the GOAT of all GOATS!!!!!!!!!!
@lakergreat80 i totally agree yo, 28 points is amazing, considering the kind of intense defense he was facing this series, also in the 98 finals he didn't shoot well & people neva bring that up, gotta give payton credit though as he was in his jersey though in games 4-6, but still he had a lot of highlight plays in this game & game 5, this game was the ultimate statement game, the 1st half of this game was one of my favz off all time, he scored like 15 straight pointz makin it look so easy
that shit wuz funny when d. rodman wuz muggin ol boy who wuz holdin him at tha free throw, he had a evil grin on his face...lol dude juz didnt kno wud he started lol..
The steal and pass leading to the dunk at 2:40 is my favorite play from the Finals. Jordan + Pippen = great teamwork. That's why Shaq and Kobe never matched them despite have perhaps more talent.
I hear you. I think everyone was too busy crowning the Bulls, including the Bulls players themselves, that Seattle were the only ones ready to play game 4. The Bulls fans who had tickets for game 6 were probably the only fans in the history of the NBA who were dissatisfied to see their team win on their home court, because they and every Bulls fan felt the series went on longer than it should've.
im sick of hearing about the..." NEXT MICHAEL JORDANS "....there will never be anyone tht does wat he did....he will always be THE best player ever...arguably the best professional athlete ever....Lebrons no where close...Kobes closer but still no where close...just quit yall...God knew wut Michael was gonna become b4 he bacame it...and that is, THE BEST PLAYER OF ALL-TIME!
I think MJ was a little tired by the time this series rolled around.
It was his first full season back, he was up to 3x as many games compared to the last season. He had been on a mission all year giving everything for 72 wins, then they went all out for the sweep at Orlando.
Obviously he was still MJ, but you'll notice that this series doesn't have any pattened "MJ" moments: switching hands '91, the threes '92, 55pts '93, the flu game '97, the final shot '98.
i agreee but i think that only raises MJ to higher status cuz he does all these amazing things and yet he still scores at least 20 points which is hard for anone else to do and he drops 36 this game like its nothin
Rodman was a very underrated passer. Most people knew he probably had the best outlet pass in the game, but check 4:38. The execution of that feed to MJ is faultless; right on the money, timed just right so he can catch, set and elevate without having to rush. Rodman was a terrific passer in the triangle offense.
Rodman was underated because he was an acquired taste personality-wise, you love or hate him. He could have been possibly up there with the greatest of defensive forwards if kept his head in the game every night... shame.
watch mj at 5:29. he's gives a 'hey' before that to rodman, and if you watch closely mj signals with his head, that he's going long. thus the next clip of mj on the line and the replay of him getting scratched by wingate. a small and suble moment, but just another reason they were so tough to beat.
@forbiddenair goddamn. thats just a different level of watching. you oughta work in intelligence catching subtle hints by russian spies for dropbox locations.
