okay im extremly new to jazz so im probably going to sound stupid when i ask but: How can Dorian be major? I thought when you harmonized a major scale it becomes minor and also when you harmonize a minor? What tonic would a progression have to be in order for a dorian to be major?
Nice presentation! Have you recorded any applications of quartal technique with "straight-ahead" jazz standards? It would be nice to hear the technique in the context of a tune.
Pretty cool stuff man! I check some of your other vids too, nice!! i just started doing lessons for peeps after getting lots of questions about Allan Holdsworth types of chords, and other types of inversion and such. I also did part 1 of a lesson on quartal harmony. I did basic 3 note quartal chords, diatonic to C major. Then i did a C F B quartal, and showed how to invert it, which I do a lot. Finally I showed how to use them in a musical example, with an improvised solo. Rock on!!!
this is just "stacking" fourths instead of "stacking" thirds ..right??
