Also note that if (for any reason) you bugger up the GUI, you still have the console/terminal when you boot Linux... so in essence, there is still power behind web surfing.
I use text browser on my Nintendo DS, but I cannot remember for the life of me which one I was using. LOL.
Never underestimate the terminal. I do my programming using something like VIM in most cases. There is only certain aspects where I might use an IDE, etc.
I can remembered when I was very new in using Ubuntu, sometimes the GUI desktop didnt' work, and I had no access to internet for finding solutions. Then after I knew terminal browers (I used w3m and now elinks), things have become easier. :-)
Also, programming in cosole using vim and gcc is good experience for me.
Anybody remember 'lynx' surfing over a dialup connection on a 486. Lynx was great.

It seems to me Lynx and Links are the same...I can't really find any differences with the possible exception of the command structure.

I think Links is updated version of Lynx made by different people.

I'd use Links for any form of web browsing, Totem has a YouTube plugin, watch streaming videos without visiting and signing in lol
