  • An excellent reminder of better times, complete with dozy car driver. Many Thanks.

  • Thanks for that - have looked at the Exeter PD2/40. A lovely crisp, purposeful sound to this 0.600. Does 2nd gear sound a little crunchy? Maybe (as with Southdown) this box is synchronised only on 3rd and top, or else 2nd is just very worn. This bus just walks up the hills, showing off its huge torque in high gears, just as it should be.

  • What a treat! This Leyland may be tired, but she's handled most expertly by her driver, who seems to relish the experience. It makes me long to hear again the Southdown PD1s and PD2s, on which both 2nd and 3rd gears were very audible as well as 1st, and each was musical in a different way. The unsynchronised boxes were more musical to my ears. This 1st gear has the well-remembered low moan, carried over exactly from the pre-war TD-series. Many thanks. Tony Evans, Braintree.

  • @leylandjcd87 Yes Brian certainly knows how to drive a Titan! He also drives Sheffield 904 & Doncaster 188 (Trolleybus body)
