To those people that say America is a dying power...when the day that America falls happens it will be a very sad day for the world. More then likely the West would plunge into another Dark age lasting for centuries and Freedom will have no place to live, no place to survive and no place to prosper. So the song is never an anthem, but instead a perversion and a god awful rendition. All hymns and anthems are meant to show a nation's pride in itself, and thusly need to be sung with the utmost amount of respect and dignity.

I have been playing soccer for almost 30 years. When I travel by the lake in Chicago. I am so happy to see so many young people playing the game. We will win the CUP by 2020.
Hahaha I went to north avenue beach this summer and i seen a lot of people playing in that little field by lincoln park and there were people kicking the ball at the beach. Wait until lebron jame athletes start playing as goal keepers and defenders, can't wait to see multi races in our team like slavs, latinos, whites, and blacks as ONE!!!!
People mock us for not singing our own national anthem and I don't blame them. Its just when you hear a shitty pop star trying to sing it, it can just suck the spirit out of singing it but, to hear this, its just heart warming.
Came close to winning the FIFA cup. And the United States doesn't even consider Soccer a real sport, now thats sad considering we beat countries that worship soccer.
USA isnt quite at the level of the major soccer (football) powers, but if the US ever got serious about soccer the way they do about basketball and football, it would be very interesting. Millions and millions of dollars are spent on football and basketball, if soccer got funding and support the same way, the US would be no joke.
There are always meathead drunks looking to fight at NFL games, but it's nothing organized. Philadelphia Eagles fans come the closest - still not organized, but I wouldn't go there in an opponent's jersey.
There are plenty of supporters' groups in MLS that do tifo, smoke bombs, flags, overhead banners etc, but most of those people aren't there to fight.
I should also mention that in several towns where big universities are, the students will form mobs in the streets after big football (american football) and basketball games (win or lose) and go around smashing up/flipping cars and lighting whatever they can on fire.
Not that that's the same thing as hooliganism, but that's a way that it manifests itself in our culture.
This was song in Germany, with thousands of Europeans in the crowd all singing the US national anthem, ravens, why don't u just be happy for that. Rather than keep arguing about nothing you can possibly solve.
I was actually at that match and I must say, it was the LOUDEST I have ever heard our anthem sung...simply amazing...and the fans that day DROWNED OUT the Italians fans throughout the entire match. We came away with just a tie, but it was worth every minute. To put it in perspective, we were louder than most home fan crowds I've experienced at SEC football games. Thanks for the post...good to relive.

You have no idea how much I agree with this.
National Anthem at the World Series or the Super Bowl is some teeny pop singer wanting an oppurtunity to show their vocal talents. So the song is never an anthem, but instead a perversion and a god awful rendition. All hymns and anthems are meant to show a nation's pride in itself, and thusly need to be sung with the utmost amount of respect and dignity.
That's why I love Canadians. Really on the ball with their anthem.

Absolutely. Granted...in soccer, the US is relatively ambivalent. International soccer is starting to get bigger, but we have a long way to go in this sport.
But you're absolutely right in that most big sports in the US...expecially the SuperBowl, whomever sings our anthem turns it inot some pop or R&B tune. It's disgusting.
Americans...Left or Right, Democrat or Republican, the majority of us prefer our anthem sung the proper way. God Bless the USA!

Hahaha I went to north avenue beach this summer and i seen a lot of people playing in that little field by lincoln park and there were people kicking the ball at the beach. Wait until lebron jame athletes start playing as goal keepers and defenders, can't wait to see multi races in our team like slavs, latinos, whites, and blacks as ONE!!!!

People mock us for not singing our own national anthem and I don't blame them. Its just when you hear a shitty pop star trying to sing it, it can just suck the spirit out of singing it but, to hear this, its just heart warming.

USA isnt quite at the level of the major soccer (football) powers, but if the US ever got serious about soccer the way they do about basketball and football, it would be very interesting. Millions and millions of dollars are spent on football and basketball, if soccer got funding and support the same way, the US would be no joke.

They exist, but it's hardly a big thing. Having hundreds of miles between MLS cities will do that. Most away trips you need to travel by air.

There are always meathead drunks looking to fight at NFL games, but it's nothing organized. Philadelphia Eagles fans come the closest - still not organized, but I wouldn't go there in an opponent's jersey.
There are plenty of supporters' groups in MLS that do tifo, smoke bombs, flags, overhead banners etc, but most of those people aren't there to fight.

I should also mention that in several towns where big universities are, the students will form mobs in the streets after big football (american football) and basketball games (win or lose) and go around smashing up/flipping cars and lighting whatever they can on fire.
Not that that's the same thing as hooliganism, but that's a way that it manifests itself in our culture.

I was actually at that match and I must say, it was the LOUDEST I have ever heard our anthem sung...simply amazing...and the fans that day DROWNED OUT the Italians fans throughout the entire match. We came away with just a tie, but it was worth every minute. To put it in perspective, we were louder than most home fan crowds I've experienced at SEC football games. Thanks for the post...good to relive.
