I don't disagree with Wright, and I'm actually a very big fan of his, but I'm not sure I get the distinction he's making. Most Christians I know agree with when you die, you go to be with Christ, but will be resurrected in the eschaton. And that there an even grander theme being played out that's bigger than the individual. Maybe I"m misunderstanding something, but this doesn't seem that controversial to me.

What a load of dribble. Way to explain a 'made up' idea. He made good sense of your bronze age books references to an afterlife. Yet another eloquent idiot for the masses spreading ever more refined versions of the 'same old lie'. Don't question. Just believe! Blindly believe. Then when you die you'll be rewarded with an eternity loving god. Yay. You can have it! Amen (so let it be).
Excellent presentation. N.T. Wright is one of the few theologians who promotes true biblical view of heaven. We Christians have seen world through Platonic (dualistic) world view glasses so that we read in Platonic world view in any biblical message about the heaven. Time to re-discover biblical world view.

It's not a new idea, it's a total rip off of Jehovah's Witness doctrine.
