Dick Stockton always sucks. He messes up a whole lot and always has a few awkward moments in every game he does. He always says something stupid and then kind of trails off and changes the subject.
These two teams were not at the stature they are now. For the Giant's this was Fassel's first year after Reeve's was fired (made the playoff's). The Cowboy's had a losing season.
Still the fact this is was an NFC East game involving the Cowboys and Giants prompted FOX to dispatch their number two team: Stockton and Millen, to the game.
I went to this game -- it was a great game actually with the Giants Defense playing phenomenally and setting the stage for their carrying the team to the division title. It was also Dave Brown's last start as Danny Kannel came in during the first quarter and gave that awful offense just enough of a spark to get them through the year!
Oh yeah I remeber this game it was Dave Brown's last game.He was the worst QB ever.Personally I did not care for him as a human being he seemed so arrogant for lousy QB.
@usisguy milquetoast jersey guy who went to duke = recipe for the most smug type of person ever.
Those are the people who, no matter how much they suck at something, will try to wave their upbringing, money, prestige of their college in your face as if it makes them better than you (and makes you forget they suck at football, as Brown did). I was so glad to see his ass gone. I had hope again (although Ike almost got KILLED in Week 1 this season).
I remember this game. This was the game that put the Giants on the track to go 7-0-1 in the division that year. SI ran a cover with Emmitt Smith w/the line "Running on Empty." Dallas was 6-5 going into their wk 13 matchup in GB. Close in the 1st half but the Pack went on a 24-0 run in the 2nd half. I think they could've recovered, but the relationship between Troy and Switzer was so toxic they personally tanked it.
The Cowboys tanked the 97 season to get rid of Barry Switzer. The Chan Gailey years weren't bad, but the team had lost its swager. In 99, the Cowboys went 8-8, 7-1 at home 1-7 on the road.
giants won this game 20-17 i remember watching this!

Dick Stockton is the MAN. Always calls a great game, even when butchering players' names and beginning every statement with "and".

Yeah that was a horrible season for the Cowboys

This game, along with Dallas' loss in Carolina in the divisional playoffs the year before, was the beginning of the end of that team's dominance...
This was Jim Fassel's first year as Giants' head coach...he actually won coach of the year because the Giants in 1996 under Dan Reeves were horrible
