  • That was an absolutely fantastic performance by the Who. I wish I could have been there.

  • using this song for being fooled by the our own government(the corporations of the world) is AWESOME ...all OTHER MEANING is bullshit... thats what the f';n song was goddan writtne for....

  • So fitting for 9 11 , wont get fooled again ! If only !

  • RIP John Entwistle

  • Been following " my boys" since 1965 and this makes me so so proud!

  • this is too intense for proper words

  • My proudest moment of being a Who fan!!

  • This is how to do it boys and girls............can't be bettered!!!!!.....outstanding.

  • nah...the greatest moment in rock history was when Abbie Hoffmann tried to take the stage and talk to the crowd while The Who were on at Woodstock.....and Pete used his guitar like a baseball bat to knock him right off the stage into the mud ....lol...true story though not in the movie.......gotta love Townshend.

  • One word can describe my feelings toward this song and how it was used at the Concert for NYC.......YYEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of the great live rock performances of all time.

  • This is easy to forget. And for those who don't know, you'll just have to take my word for it. This came at a time when the people needed cheering up and we weren't even sure if we could be (or were allowed to be). The Who...and other lesser talents...did it.

  • The greatest moment in the history of rock and roll music

  • if that scream was real and i know that it was real all hail MR DALTREY

  • For those that love this video but don't know... google the 1080p HD version and ENJOY

  • wow, one of the most defining moments in music history and people have the balls to dislike it? wow

  • @dewaynecullen Love This!!!! Thanks for posting!!! Peace

  • I know it has been said before, but the air-drummer @ 2:57 makes me smile every time. Mainly because I am doing the same thing.

  • @coleman996 that is me! I was there with my brother and brother-in-law, both firefighters of NYC. I am a firefighter in Knoxville, Tennessee and was invited up to see the whole show. My ears have lost 3 decibals but what the fuck, I'm an "air musician"!

  • sweet mother of god! unreal!

  • If all the Beatle kids had Zak Starkey's chops they could rule the world.

  • R.I.P. Entwistle

  • this song just took the whole concert fucking great

  • This song is Pete 's own favorite.. he got a standing ovation June 5th 2007 in Rotterdam, visibly moved.... He had tears in his eyes..will NEVER it

  • At 7:52..........He just put every other singer to walk the earth to shame.

  • the who should b arrested cause they kicked the shit out of 20000 people at one time. holyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • @4WingedBeatlez they performed at the superbowl a few years ago!

    moon died like in 1979!

  • BEST CONCERT EVER!!!!

  • the intracasy and skill of Townsend, the chopin concert pianist like teasing of Entwhistle, the thunder and power of Zach Starkey ( Jesus... those drums!!!) and Daltrey's timeless vocals .... plugged this into digital sound unit and played at full volume , my body is tingling all over ... this is the sound that planets are made from !! ... CLASS .. SHEER CLASS!! :)

  • @stelsewhere11 yes!

  • Big shout for Zak Starkey, nice one Ringo, the boy is giving Mooney a run for his money!!!!!!!! & i never thought i'd be writing that down.

  • Whooooa i'm not the biggest Who fan but that was fanfuckingtastic

  • @tharleyify agreed. i always liked them and heard how great they were live etc, had no idea until i saw this. they ARE without a doubt one of the best live bands i've ever seen, even in their 50's at the time they blew everyone off that stage and most of the bands out today. it's like a 'this is how you do it' video for bands lol. just awesome.

  • sorry mr mcartney but u should not of been headlining.....poor bastards following that EPIC performance.....!!!!

  • This is THE BEST fucking post Keith Moon WHO appearance BAR none!!!

  • so peaceful...

  • Stairway to heaven off the "Song Remains the Same" , Comfortably Numb off of "Pulse" and Wont Get Fooled Again "Concert for NY" , Top 3 rock performances of all time. Each achieved perfection on said night. This one had the most meaning however.

  • @nodice4me agreed. couple missing, but there's a lot of great live moments. one that has to be there imo is soul sacrifice - santana at woodstock. this vid tho is perfect, cant stop watching it lol

  • @nodice4me you're forgetting all the songs from Dire Strait's "On The Night" tour.

  • i dont think anyone realised rock history was gonna be made that night ...but im glad it was...the who smashed the place up in more ways than one.....amazing!

  • The greatest moment in the history of rock and roll music.

  • 41 dickheads got fooled into blowing themselves up for "72 virgins". Who could dislike this EPIC performance?

  • Words could never describe the importance of this show. To in such a small way say thank you to all the Hero's we lost and the ones still with us, and their families. We are blessed to have you all, and God Bless America. I will never forget this show as long as I live. The Who helped shape my youth, the from Woodstock in 1969 to Madison Square Garden 2001. All the bands certainly gave their hearts, but The Who were inspired and touched by God to give the performance of their lives.

  • And I still argue with idiots that say The Stones and Zeppelin are better. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!!! ASSHOLES THAT DON'T FUCKING GET IT!! The GREATEST EVER!!!!!!!!!! THE WHO!!!!!!!!

  • @qdog568 The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Queen, and Pink Floyd are all better. but the Who still are awesome

  • @ThatMeatalGuy123 Are you on crack? No one is better than THe WHO!!!! NO ONE!!!!!!!!!

  • @ThatMeatalGuy123 you my freind are an ideot.

  • @alisidey12 its kinda inronic that you are calling ME an idiot, yet you spell idiot wrong. too funny...

  • My goodness - that second chorus climax at 2:50 - don't know if there's a more powerful single moment in all Live Who History.

  • 3 gods. And as Pete once said about The Who -- it`s all about rage

  • 3 gods

  • Oh. MY GOD! Im Hysterical over How incredibly powerful this performance was! Daltrey sounds like hes in his twenty's still!!! I RARELY use this term. But at 7:52. I literally had chills run through my body. Truly Incredible and Impeccable. A great inspiration to my band The Red Coats.

  • Live gigs dont get much better than this

  • 41 people were arrested by Horatio Caine

  • Wow! Roger's voice sounds just like it used to, albeit not as much breath left in those old lungs of his. XD

  • *sunglasses* Who, indeed.

    YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

  • Vintage, AWESOME performance from one of the most important rock bands in history....The Who at their finest!!!!

  • Stole the whole fucking show

  • Hitler.Mussolini, Saddam, Bin Laden, Gaddaffi,; Dictator/terrorists 0 , British Forces, American Forces, and a token gesture from others when we win, 5

  • THIS WAS A GREAT CONCERT, , WISHED I COULD OF BEEN THERE , JUST LISTEN , TO THOSE DRUMS !!

  • The OWS people need to play this LOUD at every protest

  • Pete Townshend IS God :)

  • The Who,made America, rock that night, despite incredible losses.Salute the Band,God Bless John Entwhistle.Huge respect To Pete and Roger.Great drumming Zak.OUTSTANDING.Peak.

  • I remember watching this concert on TV live. I can't believe I found this performance here on "The Tube". I am a 45 year old grown man. Yet when I watch this video I cry like a baby. We were all wandering around in shock at that time. This show, especially this performance, brought me back a little closer to a feeling of reality and normalcy at that time. I'll never forget that feeling as long as I live.

  • DAMN, they stole the show...hands down!!!

  • i love watching this clip. it is the best concert ever. i will never get fooled again. Roger, Pete, John, and Zak are awesome on stage. oh no i won't, oh no i won't.

  • @nikko4566 dont be too despondent its just been announced that STEPS are reforming !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Best live version I've ever heard. Best rock song ever written too.

  • 41 Guantanamo inmates dislike this.

  • great gig, anyone realised its pretty much all english acts performing at this concert though!!

  • @ayeshasz63 AUM .MAY THERE BE PEACE ON EARTH .THROUGH THE INSPIRATION AND PIONEERING S'PIRIT OF YHE NOW GENERATION CUTTING ACROSS THE BULLSHIT . SEARCHING FOR A BETTER WAY' 'A WORLD BECOME ONE , OF SALADS AND SUN . I MET MR. DALTREY . WHO WAS VERY KIND TO ME ARRANGING FOR ME AND MY GROUP OF FRIENDS FROM U.K. TO GET IN TO A SOLD OUT GERMAN CONCERT . AMEN TO YOUR PRAYER AYESHA AND THANKYOU FOR YOUR DEVOTION. RAM OM .

  • Pure Magic.

  • its the greatest show just before the freddy mercury concert for aids. When I was 8 is when I saw tommy and heard pinball wizard I knew I was hook for the Who

  • Should have said 49-50 seconds in. Amazing. Think he was the heart of the Who

  • I saw a Who documentary and their manager said in 20 years it was the best he had ever seen. Love the bit when the OX comes in with the base. Fab

  • 2:52 oh hell yea

  • I can't stop watching it! For so many different reasons, this was the greatest performance of all time. Gives me chills every time I watch it.

  • the bands around today should take note thats perfection my friends

  • I agree this was a momentus concert. This is why most bands say " don't follow the Who in a line up", this is probably a legend for a legendary band.

  • We won't get fooled again by muslims!!!

  • To all bands wanting to nail that perfect live performance...OBSERVE!

  • This was 30 years after Leeds, and they still blow the doors off the place. One of the greatest live bands in rock & roll history. Period.

  • Yeah, we will.

  • Interestingly, the last note of the song is at 9:11

  • @speedbird49 - probably a conspiracy!

  • @kevinbennett36

Nope, Keith Moon died years ago dude!

That's Zak Starkey. (His dad played in a little band in the 60's called The Beatles)

  • The thing i most remember - having been 200 miles east of the attack on the towers - was the downwind stench of death for the next 14 days.

    It was in the air.

    Never forget 9/11.

And this was a great show!

  • wait a damn second. i thought Entwistle was dead?!

  • @KT88FTW This footage is about ten years old.

  • @EskilNaige ahhh yes a little bit of google cleared that upXD needless to say i was quite confused.

  • @kevinbennett36 Zak Starkey, son of Ringo Starr...

  • Tthey did steal the show.. Even played 4 tunes I think

  • This was possibly the best single song performance anywhere ever in the history of rock andd roll.

  • is this heaven?

  • Justin Bieber can go to hell. This is the real music!

  • What Roger said at the end...."We could never follow what you did" That man is a class act !!!

  • The song ends at exactly 9:11. The Who are theeee best band! Ever!!!!!!!

  • Too bad Pink Floyd wasn't there. They could have played "Run like hell" and dedicated it to Osama and the Taliban!

  • They are showing the concert tonight, though it is about to end in a few minutes.

  • Pete left it all out their that night.

  • NOBODY ROCKS LIKE THE WHO ! ...May all terrorist be spanked like Petes guitar !

  • Jesus Pete is playing that guitar for all its worth

  • Amazing!... . oh, and btw Entwistle giving the peformance of his life.

  • For its moment in time...THE Best Classic Rock and Roll performances EVER!

  • Best post-moonie performance by far.

  • 41 people are Muslim terrorists. FUCK YOU!!!!!!

  • There are 41 arseholes who have biewed this! Disrespectful idiotic little trolls! Outstandingly brilliant performance!

  • One of the best performances I've EVER seen. Simply unreal.

  • Thanks again Pete, Roger, and John!

  • I fell in love with my Roger all over again that night! I actually felt like he was right in the room with me.

  • one hell of a fucking ending...jesus christ that was fucking crazy!!!

    RIP 9/11, Never Forget!

  • R.I.P! <3 9/11.

  • Thanks to THE WHO for making our rescue workers smile!! The joy in their faces @ 9:14 simply priceless!!!!!! The performance of the night!!!!!

  • pretty f---ing amazing......i've seen these clips a dozen times at least....still blows me away

  • Thanks 9/11!

  • This says it all. We all needed to just SCREAM TOGETHER, and we did.

ROT IN THE OCEAN, Bin Laden, cause WE WON'T GET FOOLED AGAIN.

Democracy will triumph over you filthy scum, FREEDOM & TRUTH will overcome your lies & hatred. GIVE UP, you craphounds, YOU WILL BE DESTROYED.

  • Wow! If ever the song found its voice and moment this was it.

  • The last note the Ox played was an "A". That means somenthing.

  • @musicshake Means he's bass playing was always an "A" plus. The Ox forever!!!

  • BOLLOCKS TO BIN LADEN AND HIS BEARD WEARING FOLLOWERS!!

  • Monday I watched this whole concert on DVD to remember 911. No doubt the WHO stole the show. When Paul called, the Who came running to NYC to perform for these guys!! They put it ALL out there, NO holding back, Every eye on them,.& they DELIVER like NOBODY ELSE. The flags, the Towers, the true EMOTION of this song, EPIC ROCK HISTORY!

  • Amazing!

  • The best 4 song set of all time.

  • for all the terrorists out there...FUCK YOU

  • @MrBills95 This song states what is the actual truth:

When push comes to shove; the world will stand united against terror.

God bless all free loving people everywhere.

  • This is the MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • we in Britain had lived with Terrorists for decades, with the IRA.It took 9/11 for America to wake up. i am so sorry for your loss, but 9/11 did see America fall out of love with the IRA. " Don't Get Fooled again" ! love you all !!

  • Fantastic. best I ever saw them do it!!

  • ‎"We Won't Be Fooled Again" became a phrase reflecting America's resolve to prevent other terrorist acts. The dedication of those who worked for relief to the victims (which is all of all Americans) is honored by a great performance by the Who. This is probably one of the greatest moments in rock history. This performance is EPIC!

  • This concert should go down as one of the greats in rock history. It was done for the right reasons, nothing was scripted, and you can see the emotional and physical release that the emergency responders who were involved in 9/11 had during this song..... The Who always put on a great show but this has to be one of their absolute best in the almost 50 year history of the band. Thank goodness it was recorded, as it was their last performance with The Ox.

  • @1olrocker The Ox is great, wonderful. His mother said that he never appeared as much as the others in the videos (what is true), but in this you can see his important role in this song.

Also I noticed Roger "prays" We wont get fool again verse the way Pete always wanted...

  • @fontanalu I saw The Who in 2000 for their world tour that year. The Ox did a 25 minute bass solo that blew my fucking mind. He was bloody amazing. RIP John, one of the most influential bassists in rock history. And for my money, THE most talented bassist ever. No one could pluck those strings as fast or play the bass like lead guitar as he could. It was like he played lead bass!

  • As we approach the 10th anniversary of 9/11, I think back to this concert and have to thank Paul McCartney for getting it together - it was exactly what America and New York City needed at the time. Throw out the political BS, quit sitting at home watching the networks with their 24/7 tickers and constant coverage, and get out and rock your fuking ass off! I have the complete concert on DVD, and when you watch it from start to finish you realize The Who stole the show. I mean they STOLE it!

  • IMHO between 2:59-3:30 is controlled chaos(may be one of my top 3 fav moments in all of the 'oos history) .now piss off!

  • 41 people are terrorist

  • one of the best rock bands in the world (maybe the best one...the only one...).

incredible musicians ! listen to the bass guitarist.... !!! John Entwissel was a genious.

  • next life if the who will still be the who and queen will still have freddie mercury i would ask god to put me on that generation rather be on this generation where justine b and rebecca b is the star.....so sad

  • Just watched this again. Aftyer watching it again and again over the years. It is incredible. Was there ANYBODY in the crowd that didn't know the words? This is friends watching friends playing for friends. This is people communicating in a way nobody will ever really understand. But it is sooooooooo good. Goodbye Woodstock, but this is real!!!

  • 3.10 pete look like one angry man.....

  • For what this represented, it may well be one of the great rock performances EVER.

  • meet the new boss. same as the old boss.

  • Yeeeeaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "We could never follow what you did"... Lump in the throat moment!

  • speechless...30 times watched..still speechless.

  • INCREDIBLE! God Bless America. God Bless The WHO! Rock!

  • without a doubt the best band ever

  • best bass ever

  • Hands down, truly amazing performance, not many bands out there that really can PERFORM nowadays, just as fresh and valid as 1971.

  • God i wanted pete to trash his guitar at the end... for old times sake.

  • ladies and gentlemen, the 'oo

  • 7:52 One of Rock Music's all time classic moments. Period.

  • @Rob34212 No doubt, chills and all!

  • @Rob34212 ICONIC. Proud to be British.

  • @plasticgazzaband u should be.your country is are best friend

  • @cupacat We are.Right to the Hilt!!!

  • I remember watching this concert on TV at the time with my late husband and we were just blown away by the energy from the Who - they were amazing. There are some performances you never forget and this is one of them.

  • @erock195 there has not been a attack on usa soil since 911 we will never be fooled agan.........................

  • words fail me...

  • incendiary !

  • This incredible performance is almost 10 years old now....wow.

  • John's last performance in America with The Who. And probably their best!!

  • Entwistle was to rock bass what God is to religion....

  • I photographed The Who in 77. To see the shots go to 70srockphotos (.com)

  • Entwhistle is a wizard

  • He is a much better drummer than his father

  • @darthsage411 Agreed. He is no Keith Moon though, no slam on Zac intended.

  • Simply one of the greatest live performances in rock history. They truly blew everyone away that night.
