  • Shawn Philips plays what insturment there? ial never seen one of these before.

it looks like it has 20 strings

  • :3 .. my name's guinevere ^_^

  • see donovan.ie for Donovan's current doings.

  • @zephyrquartz he's also on facebook it's really him and he's quite active.

  • i'm ginevra, in english guinevere :)

  • He's got the orangutan lower lip goin

  • I LOVE this one. I listen to the disc from the purple box, often.

  • @cindyshealed You mean 'The Trip' ~ that CD has a purple back cover and contains this track. It is great compilation album which it says "emphasises Donovan's pyschedelic leanings", although I think of it as ethereal folk of the highest order.

  • @SuperNevile I have it on one of the discs in the Purple Velvet-ish box set.

  • @cindyshealed Thanks. I seem to own a non existent Donovan album according to Wikipedia. "The Trip ~ (EMI CDP7958322)" named after the song, was released in 1991. It's an album I play alot. Looks like I will have to go in and update Wiki.

  • Are we still as open>are we still as daring<

  • People used to listen to some pretty crazy stuff back when the world was black and white. Trippy tune! Would go nice with the last track on QOTSA's Lullabies to Paralyze.

  • I wish I would have been a young adult in the 60's. I would have been Donovan's groupie. ;)

  • I can't believe how old this is. Timeless though.

  • Gee!! I haven't heard this song in years and years. Hearing this now just put me straight back to my childhood, when I was sitting in my room listening to Donavan and Tim Hardin.

  • I love this song, but my favourite song about Guinevere will forever be "Guinnevere" by CSN

  • A rare artifact indeed---the orchestral arranger got a little big for his britches but it's an interesting version nevertheless

  • This is a far superior than another song about Guinevere having green eyes...that was recorded by a group at that time. I think the group was Crosby, Stills and Croft...

  • Crosby ,Stills and CROFT??!

that's crosby, stills and Nash and their song about Guinnevere is pretty beautiful

    i do like donovan's aswell

  • gordo I know you're just having people on...anyway Donovan is pretty cool yeah I agree, but the song entitled Guinnevere sung by CSN, mostly by DCrosby is more beautiful and touching.

  • yeah i like CSN's version WAY BETTER but i like this one too

  • Hey, ...quit already. They're both fine songs. Have a listen in high fidelity to both of them in their original recordings and then come back with your fine, erudite critique.

  • @durgaaa man...did you read what i wrote? i said i really like both songs but i like CSN's version better...it's only a matter of opinion...i didn't say one was better than the other...just that i liked one better...

  • @gordinhurox - please go look up the word, "erudite".

  • cool , I think I'm going to learn that song , and write the tab

  • this guy created amazing music from 64-70 one of the true greats

  • its a sitar ??

  • @bilbobagins1951 ya its a sitar

  • the first seconds the left guy, Wahts this for an instrument ? ^^

this is not a normal guitar lol

  • It's an indian sitar...

  • ah thanks ;:D

  • the orchestra is just amazing

  • finally a donovan video that escaped the Dylan-Jihad

  • Magnificent.

  • wow, thanks, it doesn't get much rarer than this! you Donovan collectors are wonderful! thanks so much for sharing!

Orchestral arrangement sounds quite different from album. any idea of source?

    wordofgord

  • Donovan is untouchable.

Wish we had more like him, nowadays.

My generation is in a sad state, musically speaking.

  • Aint that the truth!!!!!

  • AGREED!

  • @xDxRabbitx there are some who are doing things of similar magnitude at the same age he was here. the unfortunate part is that society and the music business doesn't encourage music of this caliber anymore. its all money sex money sex.. :(

  • lovely...thanks

  • One of my favorites also.

  • Donovan is awesome, and not only that, heùs cute

  • He looks a bit like my grandma nowadays, still a legend though

  • this is one of my favourite songs by Donovan

  • beautiful song, great video, especially with the additinal instruments and Shawn Phillips!! Thank you!

  • Thanks! What TV program is this from? I was surprised

    to hear the orchestra.Priceless!

  • This is from "Hullabaloo", USA TV program in 1965.

    Thank you.

  • i guess it's from Hullabaloo (7 March, 1966)?

  • my friend, welcome.

    Oh, really ?

    I must correct my comment.

  • @qeenmoora No its not :P ....Pete Seeger had an educational TV show called Rainbow Quest.
