  • How effective is this line for white ?

    1)e4 ... c5

    2)c4 ....

And what is a good continuation for black ?

    Do respond.

  • @planetanirudh This way you abandon sicilin and play Marochy-Bajm another big chapter :)

  • excellent

  • Keep up the good work, I learnt more in your 10 min video than 6 months booksearching. Thanx

  • Excellent, clear and to the pont

  • if you want to get the shenivanigan (I can never remember how to spell it :P) structure, its best to go though the naijorf to avoid the keres attack. you usually end up playing a6 eventually anyways.

  • Brilliant ! Keep up the good work, I learnt more in your 10 min video than 6 months booksearching. Thanx

  • thnx from Hungary, very good explinations

  • i'm new to chess, what exactly do you mean "open lines" are resulting from the pawn exchange?

Open lines? you mean an open game? or smth? sry if it sounds dumb

  • Hey Hawk, it's Comedyguy :). Join #elves more often lol.

  • Whenever you hear open, closed, or semi-open, they are talking about pawn structure.

The open sicilian lines are named such because the theory involves early exchanges of pawns in the opening which open the game up for both sides.

Conversely, closed sicilian lines avoid the early pawn exchanges that free the movement of black and give him more counterplay. They aren't necessarily the sharpest lines and thus, don't give white as big an advantage.

    It's a risk/reward kind of game.

  • he means open files, ranks, and columns. yes - an open game.

bishops are important in open games

knights are important in closed games

new players should get comfortable open games because they are more tacital.

better players can play closed games as they are a bit slower and require more strategy.

I have read all this in books and stuff.

  • An open line is a line where there are no pawns on, a semi open line is a line where there are only pawns from one player and an closed line is a line where there are pawns from both players.

  • 'people won't give you fun. by default. they want to make you suffer'

that's a great philosophy to bring to the chess board ! 5stars

  • Ill go with the dragon variation all day.But i gotta admit that yugoslav attack has given me hard time with this variation

  • it is a pretty risky variation if you opponent know it welll and castle queen side

  • @foxxy508 i like the dragon too, but u risk getting ripped apart along the h file, once ur black bishop goes and the h file opens, ur toast, its really only a matter of time if these 2 conditions are met.

  • i really like the Scheveningen Variation.i think its the best variation

  • for my self i prefer nadjorf variation

  • notice:

after 2: b4, xb4 3: a3, xa3 it is better to take the a3 pawn with the knight as the bisshop wants to go to b2 cause after d6 the bisshop doesn't do much.

anyway good video and sorry for my english.

  • im confused

who is opening the Sicilian Defence ?

    black or white?

i looked on the internet but they never say clearly who is opening

and after which move are the variations begin?

  • 1. e4 c5 is the Sicilian Defence, so if white opens with e4, black starts the Sicilian Defence with c5. I think.

  • Yes That is correct... The sicilian defence allows black an aggressive stance.

    Jordan.

  • Any opening described as a "defence" is ALWAYS initiated by a black move. An openinig described as an "attack" is usually started by a white move.

  • black

  • the siciillian is a defence, which implies its for black. if refering to white, its called an opening

  • the "white version" of sicilian defense is the english opening so you are right

  • Or an attack.

  • Thanks for posting this, I learned a lot from this video.

  • Hey king! I love your videos, with your rybka analysis, which engine do u use? human, dynamic, 960, w32 or observer? thanks

  • G-masters like to play a "riskless" game. Excellent.

  • Very good videos, I loved your video on french defense, can you please make a video on the Caro-kann defence ?

  • 1.e4-c5, 2.c3-e5 3.d4-... what is the best for black exchange and what for white? thnx

  • excellent

  • THEY WILL MAKE YOU SUFFER!!!!

    Good video, informative an clear

  • great stuff, i hope you do a whole series on black playing the sicilian

  • Good one!

    excellent!

    Thanks for the video

  • great video. descriptive, slow, clear. i liked this one.

  • King, you are great.I fell in love with your videos and have watched them all, some them a few times.I play Rubinsten variation of Sicilian,Dragon and, sometimes,Sveshnikov and Najdorf and Seveningen.I have a couple of books Sveshnikov wrote recently, including his works on Alapin system in Sicilian and French defence. He is got a son who plays in a local chess club in Riga, being FIDE master of around 2400.

  • Thank you so very much! I love playing the sicilian, but my theoretical knowledge beond the Najdorf and dragon variations has been limited at best. I'm looking forward to part2!
