  • Good news about Boris Yeltsin eh?

  • Ummm?? 5:37: "midnight came to the place were it all began 2000 years ago, to betlehem". buerk needs a history lesson. Jesus wasn't born in the year 1.

  • @BelgianGeneral

Yes, I take your point. I am sure Michael Buerk was simply reading from his 'Autocue' and probably did not write the script.

  • I was in Bristol for this, I had no idea what was happening!

  • @alexpbyron

Your comment made me laugh! is Bristol in a different time zone, did the year 2000 not happen there! Only joking I do understand what you meant, it just struck me as amusing, perhaps it is my warped sense of humour!.

  • I got to go to the millennium dome.

  • @steveOo0o

It certianly was a great place to visit. Now as the O2 Arena it's different.

  • @GLFVIDEO Yeah I was 9-10 at the time and I got picked out randomly, out of a lucky dip! It was a school trip so I didn't really get to see much. I went inside that human body, which was pretty cool. But for some reason, we went into the cinema there and watched black blackadder.

  • @steveOo0o

Steve, you were lucky then to be picked. The Dome was an amazing venue. I know it was heavily criticised, I certianly enjoyed my two visits there, and I had to travel from Hampshire. I too saw that Black Adder special, the BBC transmitted it a few years ago on either BBC2 or 3, I cannot remember which. Thanks for your comments.

  • 2012 in some 11 and a half hours :)

  • gotta love the year 2000

  • @RGAMEtv

The Scots always treat the New Year (Hogmany) with much cheering and celebration. They certainly did way back in 2000. Thanks for your comments.

  • I remember when it turned into the year 2000. I was at some party on a PlayStation and then I watched the fireworks go off. After about half an hour I came home and played with my wooden train set (I was only about 8, lol).

  • @SiloNova25

Thank You for sharing your memories.

  • I spent New Year's Eve 1999/2000 with my then-girlfriend at a friend's place on Long Island, New York.

We watched ABC's "ABC 2000" broadcast, and I'll never forget Dick Clark and Peter Jennings describing the arrival of a new millennium in New York City.

  • @altfactor

Excellent. Did your 'then' girlf friend turn out to be your 'now wife'? Thanks for sharing your memories with the rest of us.

  • At midnight my friends and I along with I reckon another 500 people were on top of Glastonbury Tor in Somerset. The fireworks in all directions as far as the eye could see lasted almost half an hour. It was amazing, the inside of the tower seemed like a nightclub with people dancing and playing instruments. Happy memories.

  • @BNCA70

It certianly was a special time. I am pleased this VT seems to provoke nostalgia in a lot of people. Thank You for sharing your memories with the rest of the YT community.

  • Amazing! I remember this like yesterday!

  • This was an amazing time and a privilege to have experienced. We were in Parliament Square near Westminster Bridge on the wall nest to building. It was sensational. The crowds roared, whistles were being blown, some guy did a strip on top of a Telephone booth! the atmosphere was electric and no troubles. We rolled out a sign wishing people in Halifax UK a Happy New Year. Toilets were scarce but we used incontinence sheaths & urine collectors! Honestly. Felt horrid to use. Stayed till 2.30 am.

  • @Topdoginuk

I am pleased the VT brought back some happy memories for you. Thank You for sharing it with me and other Youtubers. Not so keen learning about the toilet arrangements!

  • When I look at 01:39 atthe aerial view of the thames and all the fireworks erupting into the sky, it is plain to see that London surely shows everyone how to have a great time, and it also looks 1000000x better than anywhere like Sydney etc....

  • @johnson9dantheman

Thank You for your comments. I believe each Country played to it's features. I especially enjoyed the Eifell Tower, with the cascading array of lights, brilliant.

  • @GLFVIDEO Another thing, if London can produce stunning fireworks for Y2K and ordinary new years eves, I dare say the 2012 olympics fireworks will be something to go :0 about too. 8)

  • @johnson9dantheman

Yes, you are probably right. I expect it to be a great show - time will tell.

  • I set off a few of the special Standard Black Cat Fireworks manufactured to celebrate the Millennium and had a super display!

  • @AnthonyUK

You did see the New Millennium in with a real 'bang' then! Thanks for adding your comment.

  • I was there, right next to the London Eye, aged 11 years old. Most amazing sight I'd ever seen. Can't believe it was ten years ago!! Happy New Decade everyone :)

  • Can you see yourself on camera?

I was working (quadruple time!) Thanks for your good wishes for 2010, I wish you and everyone viewing this a 'Happy New Year' too.

  • @GLFVIDEO I was 2 years old. ROFLMAO

  • As my mum would have said "Bless".....

  • WHY did you got suspended?!?!
