  • The first casualty of war is always the truth. True or false history is always written by the winners. I know why this scene was cut.

  • Be cool if they re-cut the episodes to make them the way they had originally planned (before fox got all happy clappy and demanded to make it more "cheerful" ) and released a 10 year anniversary edition box set with the new episodes, that would be awesome.

  • that was a great scene with zoe

  • These are very powerfull scenes, I guess those, well "unwise" people at FOX thought they were too slow and had them edited out.

  • Definitely said SO much.

At least parts of those scenes should've been included.

I would've gladly trimmed non-dialog filler from the pilot episode to make room.

I think that they probably felt these scenes would've made it too heavy and slow moving but I liked them.

  • It can being this ended on the cutting room floor. This was an outstanding scene.

  • No one dislike.

    Firefly forever.

  • I'm also an Irish Firefly fan!

  • Such great scenes. Love it.

  • Serenity

  • What is that computer vouce? Windows voice?

  • why they cut it ? too much blood ?

  • @pornoactive

    time and redundancy.

  • @IrishFireflyFan I love your user name :) I'm the same. Thanks for the upload.

  • Shepherd kinda sounds like a pedophile in one scene. "I might pray over here a bit..if you don't mind...she is a special girl.....we kinda got to be friendly right away..." in that dark whispering voice =p

  • This scene was fantastic except that they "wanted" to get out, which is not true; they wanted to fight 'till there was no fight left in them. The other thing is that it made the whole god issue too apparent.

  • @AmusedChicken Did you watch the other scene?

  • @AmusedChicken If you look closely, Mal was wearing a Cross in the battle scenes of the pilot episode. His loss of faith was part of his character and something that continued on into the movie with Shepherd Book's last words. Like it or not, it was part of him and his struggles to come with terms with what happened at Serenity Valley and the war itself. Many vets returning from war feel similarly. Some go one way, some another. Mal's words were poignant. Some appreciate them- some don't.
  • first scene was fantastic and important...

  • I don't get how they can have spaceships and terraform planets but they can't make a computer encyclopedia with a natural human voice.

And Simon isn't much younger than the captain. He should know about the battle of Serenity Valley >_>.

  • @GabrielNicho The first one I'll give you. As for Simon,he and River grew up on a Core Planet. The information they were given would strained, filtered and whitewashed. It would be like living in a world where only FOX or MSNBC were the only sources (hope I spelled that right) of news.

  • @jeffthornton

Yeah...but a battle as great as Serenity Valley should have been reported =P. Even if "misinformed" (their cause not the actual battle).

So he should have heard something of a major battle in his lifetime =P. (And it was in the encyclopedia.)

  • @jeffthornton

"it would be like living in a world where only MSNBC was the only source"

    Fixed it for you.

  • @Hiraghm No, you did not.

  • @cedouglass

Yeah, I did. MSNBC is the government's mouthpiece.

  • @GabrielNicho

Actually, that's simple. Picture someone who can afford a "free" smartphone with their cellular service, but can't afford an Iphone or EVO. The technology exists, but they don't have access to the best of it.

They got really cool spaceships... but Serenity is an obsolete pile of fei-oo by Core standards.

  • @Hiraghm

I think someone as rich as Simon should have had access to the best.

Also they got spaceships. There shouldn't be any bad tech like that.

  • @GabrielNicho im going to guess that you have never seen the series. Maybe the movie, but not the series based on that comment. Simon had no money at the time, and was a fugitive hiding from the feds aboard what he though was an inconspicuous cargo ship.

  • @Trueflights

But he obviously got it *before* he was a fugitive.

    Seriously.

  • I can't believe these scenes were cut. They provide some much more insight into the character of Mal.

  • Once you've been in Serenity, you never leave. You just live there.

Truer words never spoken. I loved these deleted scenes. They added so much.
