  • hey cuz can you play precious lord like you did at grandpa funeral this is chris

  • Hey Chris,

Yes - I can do that for you. Please give me some time though. I am stretched out all this week and at a national wrestling tournament this coming weekend. Maybe I can sit down on the organ sometimes next month. Always good to hear from you. I often think of grandpa as I interact with my grandchildren. I think about the times that he and grandma use to come to Greensboro and pick me up in his statioin wagon to spend time with them. Call San. She just got out of the hospital.

  • what advice do u have for a fifteen year old who is a somewhat expierenced piano player, but learning organ player?

  • Ask your parents to buy you a nice Hammond A-100 with a Leslie off ebay. Bring it home, ask the Lord to anoint you for his service and then practice for 3 hours every day until you are so good that no one can doubt your call and devotion to this area of musical ministry. Listen to organists such as Whitfield, Stanfield, B. Preston (Get Gospel in My Soul) and others that you might find on youtube and study their styles of playing. In a few years - you will be a serious and anointed organist.

    Bishop:

  • I appreciate the encouragement - it means a lot to me!! It helps a brother to do more. I'll do more variety of music in future videos. In fact, look out for some John P. Kee, Hezekiah Walker, as well as other styles of music soon. Peace!!!

    Dr. Kemp

  • Dr. Kemp: You do wonderful and very anointed. I cant play @ all like this @ 56 but did play some in my youth but now with the Hammond B-3 and 122 I should play well but just cant seem to do it. Did not play for over 35 years for we had (7) children and making a living I did not play @ all. Any input to help us old dogs???

    Rev. Michael Capps, D.D., Th.D, Re.D, Ph.D

    Bishop:

  • Let's work in C#. Begin with prayer and then work on perfecting hymns that you love and know well. Play the melody with the fingers of your right hand. Next, work on left hand cording by thinking through the song (without humming it)in your mind while you cord only with your left hand. Then put the two hands together. Always practice with the bass pedals for hand foot coordination. Next work on cording the song with both hands. Then work on contempory songs. Hope this helps!!

    Dr. Kemp

  • Dr. Kemp:

As before you bless me and your music is most anointed with the Holy Ghost: You're real!!!!

    Rev. Michael Capps, D.D., Th.D, Re.D, Ph.D

    Bishop:

  • Bishop - Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. Having been saved and filled with the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost) since age 12, I only know about living a life with and for Christ - the anointed one who is the master with authority over everything!!! Im am proud to be a church boy and know of no other lifesytle. This lifestyle is therefore manifested in my conceptualization of the Gospel music and reflected in my approach to playing the Hammond Organ.

  • Play that Organ! You sound real good be bless!

  • I'm not a real good hammond player but this vid sure does make me want to practice more.

    This video is ripp'in..........Thanks

  • Thanks much!!! Set aside 2-3 hours per day for a couple of months for practice using youtube and songs you know and you will be able to tell the difference in your playing right away.

    Dr. Kemp

  • Best video so far! Loved the shout at the end. Please continue posting new vids. I hope to play at your level some day, with the Lord's help.

  • Thanks for the feedback. I visited your site and noticed your playing an XK2. I love playing mine as I have occasion. You have a nice Gospel organ touch. I would recommend you consider acquiring a C2 or A100 with a Leslie 147 to practice on and you will soon experience a difference in your playing. Practice on what you desire to play on - that's the key. Email if you need a lead on a good organ!!

  • Thanks Son,

I need you to stay on the B3 and continue to practice so you will be ready to play by the time you leave home for college!! So many churches are without quality organists - they are difficult to find. So stay faithful and trust in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart!!!

    Love,

    Dad

  • Great job DAD
