Franz Schubert played this Walz on Paul Kupelwieser's wedding in 1826. According to the notes, the music was never written down by the composer, but passed on from generation to generation by ear. Finally in 1943, Mautner Markhof (born Kupelwieser) asked the composer Richard Strauss, a friend of the family, to transcribe it. The composer rose galantly to the task, adding a few refinements of his own, as Schubert connoiseurs are quick to point out.
@aksmarket Ce n'est pas plutôt Richard Strauss qui a transcrit-arrangé cette valse de Schubert conservée dans la bibliothèque d'une famille autrichienne et jamais éditée jusque là ?
i was highly offended by this video clip...firstly this guy is a hoax, i am the true aldo cicciolini and it was me actually playing the music in wich you hear in the audio..... can you please respond asap so we can clear this matter up.
thank you for your wise comment. I too need some silence after this piece. The feeling is all there and we need to be at peace and in reflection....your comment is so precious. Thank You.
You haven't looked everywhere. Are you the one who places these comments about finding the sheet music in so many you tubes just to fill space /. certainly most all of performed schubert is available in sheet music from different publishers and commonly in libraries
Grazie Maestro Ciccolini, se lei mi legge sappia che qui in Italia siamo moltissimi ad amarla !!!!!! Lei fa onore alla musica e all'Italia..... Un saluto dal lago di Como

a very remarkable piece, one of the thousand jewels by schubert, as concise and brief (but not as sad) as his life.
