@Soulcalibar41 and @thundreturtle he already had the concept of gear second in hid mind and then he learned an easier way to do it by watching the CP9's fight and learning how they were moving so fast.It's almost nothing like Goku. It has taken Luffy over two years to even get close to perfecting it not 1 year to take it to a whole different level. Oh and he's not even one of the top 10 strongest/best fighters in the show yet.

Luffy will die when when he's like 30 because:

1. Gear second shortens his life as Rob Lucci said.

2. He gets poisoned and has the antidote which shortens life.

3.He takes that adrenaline stuff from that big headed queer about 2-3 times which shortens his life.
