why are you guys bitching about joo's chop? thats the way he plays. hes the only defensive player in the international top ten. his style is bery impressive and its probably annoying as hell to play against him because he CAN play offensively, he just doesnt do it all the time. nonetheless, wang hao is better.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
why does joo always have to be so defensive with that damn chop. hes got some good moves; if he was more offensive he would drive wang hao bananas to determine if hes being defensive or offensive. but all he does float it over the net hoping the player most notorious for top spin offensive is going to make a mistake. Thats not a good strategy; even though hes a pro; he should reconsider his defensive style to more offensive; if he becomes more offensive I guarantee he'll jump up the ranks
I think his offensive stroke isn't half as strong as Hao's. If he played an offensive stroke, Hao would crush him even more.
But I agree, he needs to work on his top-spin and alternate between a loop drive and chop. It looks like he is burning a ton of energy defending - this might've worked when the ball size was 40mm but not anymore.
im not a virtuoso at the game but im decent when i play 1st timers i chop but to everyone els i am an alround player...... this game RULES (ping pong/table tennis what ever you want t ocall it)
Joo Se Hyuk NEVER used FL III. This was just said by Butterfly to advertise their new long pimple Rubber. Joo played a Feint Long II (not III) once but changed to TSP Curp P1R 1,5mm.
Lets not forget though, its 65 degress angle and not a loop substantionally. I'd hit harder more than I would not hit it hardest. Hitting straight into it at 45 deg is terrible, but if your hitting "topspin: you better hit or chop. Does'mt matter which but if at 45 deg its probably better to just hit it HARD. Plus, if your hitting it make sure its 55 deg. Plus add some spin on it so that it changes its tradjectory a bit more. Make sure its at 45 deg or else its gonna drop more. Hit it hard!!
5nature, hittng chops is not exactly "hitting" the ball with no topspin the bat is places at an angle of about 45 degree and pushed/force up and forward through the ball, as in considerationt to a loop you brush over the ball instead of straight into it. Hope Ive cleared that up :)
Man, I remember the full match. Joo was so close to winning! Man, it's crazy watching him chop back those RPB loops against backspin. It's not easy because of all the funky side spin. Add to that, the mechanics of the shot that make it so fast and hard to read. I almost always miss read RPB loops and chop them into the net, even with long pips.
Choppping with Long Pips is alot of fun especially if your playing a very agressive player who likes to loop. It makes your opponent loop harder just to counter the spin reversal of the long pips.
Joo is the greatest chopper around right now. His chops are said to have lots more backspin than compared to other choppers. Wang Hao wasn't smashing them. He was looping most of them. He only smashed those chops which came high and too close to the net.
Ropak, about your reply to one of my comments before, you said he is waiting for the opponent to make an unforced error. That is exactly what I said. Read all my posts, you will see "unforced error" in them, and and unforced error basically means mistake. It is the same thing.
and also common lets face it chopping is allot of fun and if everyone was an aggresive player wouldnt it be so boring at least joo se hyuk is bringing some diversity to the professional level of table tennis
you can add all types of spin to a smash. one has to realize that really none of the strokes are discrete or distinct, they really are all just points on a continuum. In most cases a "smash" is just a drive or loop to a higher ball. It can have all sorts of spin on it.
ARMED, I am kind of confused about your post if you are for, or against me, but I did notise Joo tried to use some offensive tactics near the end, where he actually "earned" the point, but that just shows that playing defensively is not winning.
Hey, I never said chopping was a way to win games easier. It does not really seem like the both of you read my post. Jon, Joo still is just waiting for his opponent to make a mistake. As I said, I do not think you can call yourself a "better player" by playing all defence, you win just by how often the other person messes up.
no he is not wainting for his opponent to make a mistake lobbing is waiting for your opponent to make an unforced error chopping has spin invloved so joo can use his SKILL of being decietful and making it look there is more spin/less spin than their actually is if u want to see just wating for unforced errors watch michael maze lobbing
umm ok its obvious that its MUCH harder to win a game while chopping...then answerthis...WHY would u keep chopping if u know its not working!! WOWOWOWOW if its not working try something else DURRR
notice the forehand loops. he disrupts the opponent, try to get an imperfect return which he loops or smashes. i don't mean to abrasive, i just like hyuk.
armdsh0t finnaly i agree with you that it is allot harder and joo se hyuks level to win a game while chopping but have u ever considerd that maybe joo likes to chop? not everything is always about winning i would rather be ranked 14th in the world doing what i like to do than being ranked 1st doing somthing i dont want to do
Okay, I am sorry if I offend any defensive players out there, but I do not think you can play all defensively and win by calling yourself you are better than the other person. Playing defensively basically means sitting back and waiting for your opponent to make a mistake, unforced errors. By doing this, you are not proving anything other than the fact that people are not perfect. So, playing all defensively is only proving how good the other person is.
Joo is much worse than the chinese players. The Chinese are the best in table-tennis. But come on it's not fair to say joo is a bad player. I think he's number 8 of the world. Only Timo Boll has a big chance against the Chinese, he's number 4 of the world
joo's the 12th best in the world. and people who say he sucks don't appreciate true talent. it's MUCH harder to win a match while chopping than it is to win with looping. yet joo se hyuk is still number 12. try chopping a fast loop and then tell me he sucks.

Joo is better than all other chinese tabletennis players so i think that he just have to win this match against this luckplayer who has with so much luck win against Ryu sung min.

who care about win/loss. defensive style will always be the best to watch and be a few to play that style for life.
