Interesting how people justify a 50 year old dictatorship to Batista. Who has all the right information? People on youtube who can express themselves freely.. r the people of Cuba who are not permitted to have internet use.. much less free write their opinions in a public space. When you ask if my people were better of 50 years ago than today? I don't remember a massive exodos of 1 million people during Batista. I also don't recallany recent immigration TO cuba like there was before Castro
Nothing is more peaceful than a dead communist. Blessed be the peace makers. Especially those that disposed of that murdering piece of marxist trash che guevara.
Yes he was.. BUT you cannot compare.. Castro still dwells on the 5 years Batista was a dictator lets. talk about the meat and potatoes.. 54 years of Castro?
iv been to cuba the trade embargo keeps the cubans down, i would like to see it lifted but i wouldnt like to see a massive invasion of foreign businesses but the americans wont negotiate so it will happen
OR the CUban government won't change. DO YOU RALIZE CUBANS EARN 12$ avg per month?
THEY WERE NOT ALLOWED INTO HOTEL LOBBY"S until NOV 2009?
NO PRIVTE INDUSTRY NO FREE MARKET!! IS THAT THE US"S FAULT TOO? JESUS!! 50 years of NO CAPIALISM OR INFLUX of $ and you BLAME our BOYCOTT on a totalitarian DICTATORHIP?
Do you people know that Fidel Castro never told the Cuban people that he was a communist? He gained popular support only when he said he would return to the constitution of 1940. It is documented that he flat out said he was not a communist!HOW THE FCK do you support a tryanny of 54 years with no change COME ON PEOPLE WAKE UP from your dream I love it when NON cubans have such a strong opinion my my peoples history .. too bad my family in Cuba is not permitted internet or speak their minds.
@NEWYORKLIBRE Where your people any better under Batista? I really don't know, except what I read in school, but that "American history" so its one sided. From what I hear, Batista was a puppet, who didn't help the middle or poor classes. As long as he was in the U.S. pocket. I have no love for Castro, but atleast the we should get the whole story.
@raschase I'll give you the whole story because my family lived it. Batista was not perfect and when Fidel and El Che overthrew him everyone was happy. However, in time the Cuban people realized that they had been betrayed by lies. So they turned against Fidel and El Che. This is when the exiles and and executions began. No one had the right a trial. I have "no love" for Batista, Fidel, or El Che. But, if the Cubans of that time, were to choose again, they'd choose Batista.
Had National Socialist Germany or some other "third positionist" power existed in the late 50s and early 60s, I would have no doubt at all that Che would have turned to them for aid. It is clear to me that Che was primarily a pan-hispanic nationalist first, and a socialist second, but not a communist. It's just that who could you turn to for help in those days?.....if your enemy was U.S. imperialism and unbridaled capitalism, who else to go to except the reds?
If anything, Che wasn't revolutionary ENOUGH, ie, largescale hemp-production to replace sugar-cane monoculture would have provided HUGE opportunities, basis of world-class hemp-based fuel, fabric, textile & paper industries, food, feedstocks, chemical/medicine innovations, serving to bootstrap diversified manufacturing & trade development. US blockade has been a horrible, tragic failure -- some 'reward' for shaking-off a brutal, corrupt tyranny. US is STILL world's leading purveyor of terror.
Hemp does not Grow in Cuba silly. That I guess you just think all SPIC countries are the same? Do you know about the history of Sugar production? Sugar was once worth more than gold.
@NEWYORKLIBRE -- Sorry to be so blunt, but your 'rebuttal' is sheer delusional nonsense. Hemp will grow almost ANYWHERE -- ie, Alaska, Nebraska, Haiti, Caribbean, Florida, Morrocco, Portugal ... Just sayin' that you aren't considering the historical & geostrategic context in your hostile critique of the Cuban Revolution. As an antifacist critic of US neoliberalism & miliaristic imperialism, I recognize the Revolution was subverted & seriously compromised by US's ruthless & limitless resources.
Very biased documentary and sloppy historical facts being show hear, for example, stating Khrushchev simple backed down in the missile crisis is a gross over simplification. the US was made to remove there missiles from turkey and agree to never invade Cuba before there missiles were removed.
@mlo59 -- Amazing, someone was so offended by your crit of biased historical mendicity they gave you a thumbs-down! US citizens NEVER hear of the nuclear-sword dangling over Moscow via Turkey, which the US established FIRST. The 'crisis' was over-hyped by CIA/Pentagon/MIC meddling to provoke Cold War stakes & coerce Kennedy's hand, ramping-up defense industry economic & political clout. Lies & psyops made US addicted & dependant on WAR Industry, ie. SE Asia Domino Effect & Soviet Missile Gap.

You clearly take your freedom for granted.
There have been dozens of overthrow atttempts.. the result is exile, and forced family sepatartion.
Cubans are thrown in jail for even being suspected of being counter revolutionary!

This is'nt a history book but I reference the Memoires of Krushchev. Mikita himself said that Castro was over enthused to use the bomb. Check it out?
What is your interest in supporting dictatorships?
