Thank you, I was hoping for a guide. I do well in the RTS sections, but fail forribly on managing my base on the beginning. Now that I know the aliens can enter from hangers, I'll keep my hanger placements in mind.

I was just wondering.. on my version when you zoom in the countries and border-boundries and not shown, it's just a mass of land. Is this some kind of changeable option? Any ideas?

Another thing to keep in mind about base design is that your soldiers spawn, for base defense, in general stores and living quarters. They'll spawn in the hallway, in rooms, and on the second floor randomly. Base defense missions are intense. I recommend having something OTHER than stores or quarters as the tile adjacent to the lift shaft/hub.  That way you can concentrate your forces and not have units picked off on the first turn (at least, not as easily...xcom loves to screw you up)

Try and remember that Europe has many countries, they aren't high paying, but combined they win.

Very nice strategy for base, but it is not necessairy, coz June or July r month when possible to capture Cidonia. And aliens may locate you base only at August.

Depends on how you play the game :) You can do it fast and got there in June or July, but captureing an Alien Commander isn't that easy, when you are lucky you get one from an Battleship which also works.

This is a very useful guide to a starting base. I found the information about rebuilding the hangers to control where the aliens enter to be fascinating. Nice video, SG.
