good info these 10/22 rugers are so much fun even more fun then the pistols i have -- its my first rifle and i love that i can grab a box of bullits and shoot for acouple hrs for like 20 bucks haha thanks -- sands
I'm picking up my Ruger 10/22 carbine tonight and this video is one I will follow once I get it home. Thanks for the video and I appreciate the professional advice.
Thanks so much for your video. Good job. Unfortunately, I got a new Ruger Charger (10/22 pistol version) this week at a gun show. So, I'll have to shoot it all weekend. I know. It's pretty tough to have a new gun. So much work. Poor me. I'll break it in as you recommend. Thanks again for another great video.
I've taken an M-16 apart about 64,000 times, but until today, never a 10-22. Your vid was VERY helpful. Saved me from just grabin a screwdriver and hoping I don't break anything. Thank you.
Thanks, After watching quite a few "kids" fumble around trying to show how to clean the 1022, it was great to find your 2 videos which were great, New Subscriber....
Another great video bro!. For the first timer getting that bolt back in can be a pain in the ass until you get used to holding the charging handle back.
+1 for the CCI Mini Mag ammo. It's excellent. The CCI Stingers are nice too. Good thing about .22lr is that even the good stuff is cheaper than the shitty stuff for larger calibers :)
i just followed your advice for breaking in my new 10/22. took me just over two hours to complete the 200 round method you described. at 15yds i got all 200 rounds in a 3.25" group, my first time ever shooting a rifle!
Dude, thank you so much for including the part about the ejector in the trigger group. The tutorial from Ruger never mentioned it and I spent hours trying to figure out why the bolt kept sticking! Needless to say, there was much swearing and cursing Ruger firearms.
so i took apart my gun to cleaned it and put it back together and everything is fine but the safety. only when the gun is cocked back now can i switch the safety on and off. if the gun is not cocked back the safety will not move what did i do wrong? i didnt even take apart the trigger but when i was putting it back the hammer spring fell out i pretty sure i did it right.
@pbchris4719 Are you saying that when the action/bolt is cocked back and locked so you can see the breach? Or are you saying when you cock the gun to set the firing pin/hammer. Because if it's the latter, then that's normal. There's no need for the safety to be on if the firing pin/ hammer isn't set, because mechanically it would be impossible to fire the weapon. I hope that helped some. Get back to me if that didn't answer your question
Personally I want to thank you for taking the time to make this video. I bought my son this rifle, and I want him to know every detail about it and to respect it and take care of it. So for what its worth, you really helped me out. Great video.
Ruger says that they've done side-by-side testing with the same rifle testing this break-in method and says it doesn't change anything, just to make sure you clean the barrel BEFORE you shoot it for the first time.
@adiosalmaperdida it remains part myth, very little science, despite efforts to empirically test break-in protocols. Still, some swear by it. One day, perhaps we'll know for sure..
i just got a new 10/22 i dont want to mess it up shooting cheap ammunition are the gold remingon's good enough i saw a review on sportsmans that said(Stay away from this ammo. I bought this ammo for practice. Very dirty and the brass jacket creates flakes everywhere. All over your gun, you and anything you touch. 1.5 miss fires per 10 shots fired. Never again!) what you think?
@24jtown All i've been using is the gold Remingtons. Went through a whole box of 525 with not one misfire. No failure to feed or ejection problems either....
This is an excellent video! Thank you for step by step instruciton of how to break in a 10/22 barrel. I have followed your method and it clearly WORKS!
How hard would it be to reassemble this rifle without thumbs? Because it seems you're using your thumbs a lot, I was just wondering. But over all I would say that this rifle is relatively easy to take apart and put back together. I like your videos and think you do a great job, so keep up the good work!
I was unaware of breaking in a new rifle and put about a hundred rounds through my 10/22 before cleaning. Will this affect the accuracy or long term performance? Good video series, thanks.
WESOME video... replayed the video and took my gun out and followed it to a "T".. awesome... no problems at all.. NOW SHES NICE AND CLEAN!!
one addition to the video.. if your using your gun in COLD weather.. then use "SYNTHETIC GUN OIL" it helps to stop from jamming or gumming up in cold weather!!!
I appreciate the videos. I have shot about 1,000 rounds through my 10/22, and I didn't do a damn thing that you recommended. I would have, if I had seen the videos :-) Bummer. Anyway, now I know how to take it apart. Thanks for the videos-
I'm picking up my first rifle on friday.. It's a 10/22 from 1973 preowned but never fired. Is there any process to breaking in the barrel or the gun itself since it has never been fired before?
i just bought my first gun and it is a rugger 10 22 im looking forward to breaking it in and with your help i think ill do just fine i will let you know and maybe even post my own video
For consistent accuracy. The barrel needs to broken in kinda like a pair of shoes need to be before they feel perfect to walk in. Once a little fowling builds up the shots become more consistently grouped.
Thanks. Great Vid. One question,.. are you saying to break down and clean the whole riffle after the first round,.. the 5 then 10 etc,.. or are you saying just clean the barrel without breaking it down? Then after the days shooting is over give her a full cleaning,..
hey i have a ruger 10 22 all weather and i can't figure out how to remove butt of the stock ( as there is no video or manual instructing how to do so )
there are also no screws visible, and since it is a synthetic stock i can't pry it open withour damaging it.
DUDE. Is it that important? That song is from 1983. Hey man, great videos, thanks very much for posting them, my son and I dissasembled our 10/22's with confidence that we would get them back together thanks to your videos, thanks again! Great job!
Also, I've had bad luck using the Remmington 550 HP in my father's .22LR target pistol. Same goes for my buddies Sig Mosquito. Both pistols misfire at least 3 or 4 times every mag with this ammo. Probably just picky firearms. How picky is the 10/22? I've always had the best luck with Winchester FMJ target in my other firearms. I have nothing against other brands of ammo and would try the Remmington 550 again if the Ruger really likes it.
When you say clean the barrel after every shot, what do you mean by that? Just run a dry bore snake down the barrel or do you wanna run a patch with CLP on it followed by dry patches? I really want my new 10/22 Sporter to be as accurate as possible.
i just picked up one of these little machines today. I am ready to get down to business with it. When you are breaking in the barrel just a quick run through with a bore snake would work or do I need to run the shit through like after a long day at the range? Great vid!
i have the 2009 All-weather model and there is rust constantly collecting on my barrel, charging handle, and sometimes on my bolt, these parts are all silver in colour, (except for the bolt handle), It is stored in the baement of my farmhouse with all my other guns, but it can't be the dampness because my other guns don't ruust like that. PLEASE HELP ME~!
Make sure you oil it before putting it away. I've taken an all-weather model, stripped the grey paint off it with some Tal Strip II (down to the steel) then sanded and polished it. Works like a charm and no rust so you may want to try that if all else fails.
i was just wondering. do you have to clean it after each shot? i plan on cleaning it before i shoot it for sure. but unless breaking it in like that is necassary, i really dont want to do it haha XD, please excuse my lazyness lol.
Wow weird how michael jackson just passed and thats the instrumental from michael jacksons song beat it, anyway nice vid there im about to get one this week! =D.
I do have a question. I understand your breaking in the barrel but why do you clean it between shots at first? I'm not trying to question your method but I'm wondering what it actually does. Are we basically trying to clean any residue from the manufacturing process before building up powder and fowling on the barrel?
BTW, thank you for your videos. The CCW videos are great. I'm going to have to subscribe now :D
Yes thats pretty much the idea of doing that. In my opinion you should clean any new firearm first before taking it out to the range.
Things like metal shavings , oil and other bad things can still be in the firearm from the making process at the factory. Also some firearm brands ship their firearms in a form of packing grease to help help protect for long storage or shipping.
Say you shot like a couple hundred rounds through it and didn't clean it once until after that? Is this alright? I mean it shoots really good and accurate. Should have watched this vid before lol!
Don't worry man your 10/22 will be fine. Many 22LR shooters ( Inclueding Me ) do not clean their 10/22's are they shoot them , in facted I rarely clean my 10/22.
From time to time its good to clean all the bugs out of her for a noraml everyday guy. Now if your a match grade target shooter then yes cleaning your rifle is most likely done after every shoot to help keep accuracy.
I've watched all of your videos on the Ruger. I just wanted to thank you for going the extra step and overexplaining to make sure your viewers are comfortable. I'm going to go out and buy my first rifle soon and it's mostly because you eliminated a lot of the questions that scared me away from one previously. Thanks a lot, and I look forward to more vids.
@shootsbrah Yup i'm also thinking of getting A Ruger 10/22 riffle because of this excellent video it really helps out the people that are barely starting like my self and many others as well
very informative, i was considering drilling the rear of my reciever to rod it from the chamber end but just couldnt bring myself to making a hole in a perfectly good reciever, it would be great if ruger would provide a hole in the rear for this purpose.
awesome vid, I dont own a 10/22 but I want one. I watched this series to see how the rifle is made and goes together. I dont care about driving tacks, but picking which eye Id shoot someone in at 100 yards:) Id get one if I could feel good about spending that cash.
that would be great because the only video i have seen on youtube or anywhere on trigger assemblies is the trigger sub assembly, im just goign to dissasemble the other .22 and observe where the spring is that im trying to place, its the one with a single loop, again thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into making these vids
Hey man my guide rod and spring set up won't retract to the back position. Is there anything you would suggest to make the cocking lever push back? (Besides brute force, which I've done)
Ya someone else was having this same problem and most likely whats happening is your pulling from the handle and thats why its not working. Try retracting the spring from pulling or pushing it from the middle of the guide rod & the spring.
So basicly when retracting the spring your trying to retract it inline with the spring rod. You see by pulling from the handle your creating force on the guide rod and thats why its seems very hard to retract , If that don't work I'm not sure.
Hey, I have a question. I was cleaning my 10/22 last night, and the charging handle got stuck on the end of the slide bar on that small notch at the end of it. I tried to get it off by wiggling it, and it came off, but then I looked at the end of the slide bar and it looked just a little bent down by the notch (like it had caved in on the notch). I put it back together, and it seems to fire fine, but I was just wondering if this is going to be a problem later. Any thoughts?
I really don't think it will be a problem , the Ruger 10/22's are built pretty darn strong and I don't think it should cause any jamming or any other problems down the road.
If your really worried about it , maybe check out the Ruger forum and ask around and see if anyone else has had any problems with this. I really can't think of anything else because this is the first time I've heard of this maybe being a problem.
Good luck man but I wouldn't worry to much about it.
Thanks for the video. I'm trying to re-assemble the gun, & I can't get past the first step - my spring won't recoil. It's completely stiff & won't budge at all. 'Any suggestions?
Well most likely whats happening is your pulling from the handle and thats why its not working , try sitting the bottom of the spring on the ground ( Handle side sticking up ) and push down right in the middle of where the spring recoils ( Not using the handle ) simply push down right in line with the spring and you should see what I mean.
Wow. I had no idea. I've never broken in a firearm like that. Just got a ruger 10/22 tonight and will follow your suggestion. Makes perfect sense to me. I wish I'd seen this video a year and a half ago. Very informative. You make a good teacher! Cheers, and happy shooting!
Well most people don't break in their rifles like this but if you talk to just about any target shooter they will tell you this is how they break-in all their barrels.
So in short it could be a little overkill for the everyday guy but having a barrel that is more accurate does not hurt.
lol yes some form of break-in should be done for just about all firearms.( Most likely not breaking it in won't hurt it but overal a good break-in will help both the accaracy and life of your firearm ).
If anything you should at least clean the firearm before taking it out to the range and shooting it.
That's good to know. Unfortunately, me being a noob to the AR scene, I didn't do this type of break-in with my M&P15 back in August. I don't foresee myself becoming a match shooter so I reckon I'm okay with slightly wider group. My bigger concern is dropping the tweaked out meth-head coming through my window at 3 am. Anyhow, great video and great tips!
BTW... What state do you live in? If I had to guess, I'd say Michigan. Be well, shoot straight.
Ya your right man , doing this type of break-in is more for improved accuracy and shouldn't hurt in anyway how your AR works. ( I don't think you have to worry about shooting 1 inch groups into a meth-head at 100yards lol )
and yes I live in the great state of Michigan ( Lower MI )
I'm just getting into shooting -- when you say clean the barrel after each round starting out, you don't mean disassemble the gun again, right? You just mean run a patch through the barrel with gun still assembled, correct?
i used to use rws target ammo when i used to shoot competitively. although i think in general that most ammo that is packaged individually like the cci mini mags or rws and wolf ammo is of higher quality than the remington gold or winchester which is just thrown in a box. great video.
It really comes down to what your rifle like. The best thing to do is to get about 10 different brands of ammo (just like the 50 round boxes) and take em all to the range and shoot 5 shot groups and see which one the rifle likes best. Eley is supposed to be the best but it really is not worth the cost.
if you would like to go one step further and take off the barrel, just remove the 2 allen bolts and the barrel slides right off. oil or light high temp grease and reconnect. it's not necessary but makes it easier to remove later on.
I'm thinking about getting my first rifle the 10/22. The info you supplied was absolutely invaluable. I did not know how to break in a barrel like this. I did not do this with my 2 ruger pistols. I hope I did not harm the barrels. Also, CCI mini mags are a high velocity round. I was told to use a medium velocity round for my pistols. Believe me when I clean a gun it is clean. Perhaps I do too much - IS THAT POSSIBLE?? Appreciate your advice - we spoke before. Thank You. JAMES.
subsonic rounds are 1070fps, 1100-1270ish and then 1340fps for mini mags, stingers are somewhere around 1640fps. target pistols and rifles prefer stuff on the lower end of the speed spectrum. in some cases the hotter stuff won't even fit in the chambers. and no you can't clean too much. the cleaning rope is known as a bore snake incase anyone wants to know.
I do have one technical comment to add that you might find interesting. I read in an NRA publication that the accuracy of a barrel will continue to increase with shooting for several thousand rounds I can't remember the exact number they gave but it was a lot of ammo. So your forty year old Ruger 10/22 might just be hitting its stride in terms of barrel accuracy. Again great video!!
You meantioned the Hopps gun oil, but didn't meantion what to oil. Do you oil the bolt as you assemble it? What about oiling the barrel, if anything for preventing rust? Great videos by the way.
yes i was also wondering what to oil. on my brand new one the bolt is slathered in the factory oil, so im not worried about that. i would imagine we should oil the barrel, is that right kickedintheballs2000?
aluminum won't rust but barrels will. oil inside and out but just a lite coating. never over do it. oil or grease all moving parts. places like Brownells carry these really nice needle oil bottles in sets of 3. Moly grease is nice and can handle low as well as super high temps. oh before i end this wipe all finger prints off of blued barrels with oil and or a combination of silicone. you can use gun wipes or just make your own. they also make gun socks inpregnated with silicone/oil
I found that reassembling the trigger group is very hard. I even found an exploded diagram on the net and it was still tricky. I took mine apart to install a "light trigger" spring kit. (seems exactly the same...)
epic intro song!!!

OBrex05 2 years ago
The 10/22 isn't very picky at all. I'll use just about anything you put in it, but like most guns, they like what you break them in with better.
bobby1829387 2 years ago
When you say clean the barrel after every shot, what do you mean by that? Just run a dry bore snake down the barrel or do you wanna run a patch with CLP on it followed by dry patches? I really want my new 10/22 Sporter to be as accurate as possible.

i just picked up one of these little machines today. I am ready to get down to business with it. When you are breaking in the barrel just a quick run through with a bore snake would work or do I need to run the shit through like after a long day at the range? Great vid!
Rook369 2 years ago
I quick bore snake and maybe a few patches should work pretty good.
kickedintheballs2000 2 years ago
wait so do you recommend cleaning it out before we ever shoot it?
paintballguy113 2 years ago
Yes I myself would clean any NEW firearm before taking it out to the range.
Just my 2 cents

i have the 2009 All-weather model and there is rust constantly collecting on my barrel, charging handle, and sometimes on my bolt, these parts are all silver in colour, (except for the bolt handle), It is stored in the baement of my farmhouse with all my other guns, but it can't be the dampness because my other guns don't ruust like that. PLEASE HELP ME~!
Devabomb123 2 years ago
Well all I can think of is when you put the rifle away put a lite coat of oil on the parts that are rusting and this should help.
But WOW it shouldn't be rusting like that to begin with. ( Call Ruger man )
Sorry to hear this man.
kickedintheballs2000 2 years ago
Make sure you oil it before putting it away. I've taken an all-weather model, stripped the grey paint off it with some Tal Strip II (down to the steel) then sanded and polished it. Works like a charm and no rust so you may want to try that if all else fails.
djkham 2 years ago
well to get rid of the rust soaking the pieces in coca cola works, just make sure you clean it off after
paintballguy113 2 years ago
i was just wondering. do you have to clean it after each shot? i plan on cleaning it before i shoot it for sure. but unless breaking it in like that is necassary, i really dont want to do it haha XD, please excuse my lazyness lol.

masogtull2 2 years ago
I do have a question. I understand your breaking in the barrel but why do you clean it between shots at first? I'm not trying to question your method but I'm wondering what it actually does. Are we basically trying to clean any residue from the manufacturing process before building up powder and fowling on the barrel?
BTW, thank you for your videos. The CCW videos are great. I'm going to have to subscribe now :D
dtwinky 2 years ago
Yes thats pretty much the idea of doing that. In my opinion you should clean any new firearm first before taking it out to the range.
Things like metal shavings , oil and other bad things can still be in the firearm from the making process at the factory. Also some firearm brands ship their firearms in a form of packing grease to help help protect for long storage or shipping.
Thanks for showing your support man
kickedintheballs2000 2 years ago
Say you shot like a couple hundred rounds through it and didn't clean it once until after that? Is this alright? I mean it shoots really good and accurate. Should have watched this vid before lol!
Letsmakeasamich 2 years ago
Don't worry man your 10/22 will be fine. Many 22LR shooters ( Inclueding Me ) do not clean their 10/22's are they shoot them , in facted I rarely clean my 10/22.
From time to time its good to clean all the bugs out of her for a noraml everyday guy. Now if your a match grade target shooter then yes cleaning your rifle is most likely done after every shoot to help keep accuracy.
kickedintheballs2000 2 years ago
I've watched all of your videos on the Ruger. I just wanted to thank you for going the extra step and overexplaining to make sure your viewers are comfortable. I'm going to go out and buy my first rifle soon and it's mostly because you eliminated a lot of the questions that scared me away from one previously. Thanks a lot, and I look forward to more vids.

Mathias41257 2 years ago
No problem man , thanks for watching.
I don't have a trigger disassembly/reassembly video just yet but if you really need one man just let me know and I'll put it on the " To Do " list.
kickedintheballs2000 2 years ago
that would be great because the only video i have seen on youtube or anywhere on trigger assemblies is the trigger sub assembly, im just goign to dissasemble the other .22 and observe where the spring is that im trying to place, its the one with a single loop, again thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into making these vids

Hey man my guide rod and spring set up won't retract to the back position. Is there anything you would suggest to make the cocking lever push back? (Besides brute force, which I've done)
neldorado44 2 years ago
Ya someone else was having this same problem and most likely whats happening is your pulling from the handle and thats why its not working. Try retracting the spring from pulling or pushing it from the middle of the guide rod & the spring.
So basicly when retracting the spring your trying to retract it inline with the spring rod. You see by pulling from the handle your creating force on the guide rod and thats why its seems very hard to retract , If that don't work I'm not sure.

mike, how much do those remmington 550 bullets cost? i bought a box of winchester lead bullets but i haven't shot my new ruger yet.
Also, is it 200 rounds total?
thanks alot
Alacoque3030 3 years ago
Well I think Wally World ( Walmart ) Has the Remington Golden Bullet 550 Value Packs for around 15 bucks last time I checked.
Is what 200 rounds total? I'm not sure what you mean man
kickedintheballs2000 3 years ago
when you say, " continue this method all the way up to 200 rounds". is that 200 rounds total
Alacoque3030 3 years ago
Ohh yes a total of 200 rounds.
You may not feel the need to go as far as 200 rounds but I would at least go through 100 rounds.
kickedintheballs2000 3 years ago
Hey, I have a question. I was cleaning my 10/22 last night, and the charging handle got stuck on the end of the slide bar on that small notch at the end of it. I tried to get it off by wiggling it, and it came off, but then I looked at the end of the slide bar and it looked just a little bent down by the notch (like it had caved in on the notch). I put it back together, and it seems to fire fine, but I was just wondering if this is going to be a problem later. Any thoughts?
sgtssstutter 3 years ago
I really don't think it will be a problem , the Ruger 10/22's are built pretty darn strong and I don't think it should cause any jamming or any other problems down the road.
If your really worried about it , maybe check out the Ruger forum and ask around and see if anyone else has had any problems with this. I really can't think of anything else because this is the first time I've heard of this maybe being a problem.
Good luck man but I wouldn't worry to much about it.
Mike

Thanks for the video. I'm trying to re-assemble the gun, & I can't get past the first step - my spring won't recoil. It's completely stiff & won't budge at all. 'Any suggestions?
Nakmuayalex 3 years ago
Well most likely whats happening is your pulling from the handle and thats why its not working , try sitting the bottom of the spring on the ground ( Handle side sticking up ) and push down right in the middle of where the spring recoils ( Not using the handle ) simply push down right in line with the spring and you should see what I mean.
kickedintheballs2000 3 years ago
Wow. I had no idea. I've never broken in a firearm like that. Just got a ruger 10/22 tonight and will follow your suggestion. Makes perfect sense to me. I wish I'd seen this video a year and a half ago. Very informative. You make a good teacher! Cheers, and happy shooting!
bucket0rocks 3 years ago
Well most people don't break in their rifles like this but if you talk to just about any target shooter they will tell you this is how they break-in all their barrels.
So in short it could be a little overkill for the everyday guy but having a barrel that is more accurate does not hurt.
Thanks for the support man.
kickedintheballs2000 3 years ago
so when you get a new gun you shouldn't just shoot the shit out of it, but you break it in like that?
vaderjones20 3 years ago
lol yes some form of break-in should be done for just about all firearms.( Most likely not breaking it in won't hurt it but overal a good break-in will help both the accaracy and life of your firearm ).
If anything you should at least clean the firearm before taking it out to the range and shooting it.
kickedintheballs2000 3 years ago
Mike, would you recommend the same type of barrel break-in (shooting) process for an AR15?
GunnerSven 3 years ago
YEs I would recommend breaking in a AR type barrel even more so.
In fact most newwer AR models will come with a small sheet of paper telling you to break in the barrel like this.
kickedintheballs2000 3 years ago
That's good to know. Unfortunately, me being a noob to the AR scene, I didn't do this type of break-in with my M&P15 back in August. I don't foresee myself becoming a match shooter so I reckon I'm okay with slightly wider group. My bigger concern is dropping the tweaked out meth-head coming through my window at 3 am. Anyhow, great video and great tips!
BTW... What state do you live in? If I had to guess, I'd say Michigan. Be well, shoot straight.
GunnerSven 3 years ago
Ya your right man , doing this type of break-in is more for improved accuracy and shouldn't hurt in anyway how your AR works. ( I don't think you have to worry about shooting 1 inch groups into a meth-head at 100yards lol )
and yes I live in the great state of Michigan ( Lower MI )
Thanks for the support man.
kickedintheballs2000 3 years ago
Thanks man, holding the spring back while trying line up the bolt was harder than I thought, until I saw how you dropped it in forwaeds.

kickedintheballs2000 3 years ago
I'm just getting into shooting -- when you say clean the barrel after each round starting out, you don't mean disassemble the gun again, right? You just mean run a patch through the barrel with gun still assembled, correct?
scthomas28 3 years ago
Yes you don't need to break the whole firearm down , just run a few patches through the barrel.
Its good to see more people getting into firearms and shooting sports.
Take care man & Shoot safe.
kickedintheballs2000 3 years ago
What is an example of very high quality ammo to break the barrel in with?
armondsarkisian 3 years ago
CCI mini mag ( I think )
kickedintheballs2000 3 years ago
i used to use rws target ammo when i used to shoot competitively. although i think in general that most ammo that is packaged individually like the cci mini mags or rws and wolf ammo is of higher quality than the remington gold or winchester which is just thrown in a box. great video.
ARshooter89 3 years ago
Thanks man , I also have heard good stuff about Wolf 22LR ammo but have yet to try any out.
kickedintheballs2000 3 years ago
It really comes down to what your rifle like. The best thing to do is to get about 10 different brands of ammo (just like the 50 round boxes) and take em all to the range and shoot 5 shot groups and see which one the rifle likes best. Eley is supposed to be the best but it really is not worth the cost.
ARshooter89 3 years ago
thank you for your time makeing the video i just cleand my new 1022 first time it help alot and now i know what the rubber pin it used for
cabotaz 3 years ago
if you would like to go one step further and take off the barrel, just remove the 2 allen bolts and the barrel slides right off. oil or light high temp grease and reconnect. it's not necessary but makes it easier to remove later on.
tunedin2 3 years ago
Great video, found it AFTER I disassembled and reassembled my rifle. It is a fairly simple rifle, nothing too difficult. Keep up the good work!
benb023 3 years ago
I'm thinking about getting my first rifle the 10/22. The info you supplied was absolutely invaluable. I did not know how to break in a barrel like this. I did not do this with my 2 ruger pistols. I hope I did not harm the barrels. Also, CCI mini mags are a high velocity round. I was told to use a medium velocity round for my pistols. Believe me when I clean a gun it is clean. Perhaps I do too much - IS THAT POSSIBLE?? Appreciate your advice - we spoke before. Thank You. JAMES.
buzzclark 3 years ago
subsonic rounds are 1070fps, 1100-1270ish and then 1340fps for mini mags, stingers are somewhere around 1640fps. target pistols and rifles prefer stuff on the lower end of the speed spectrum. in some cases the hotter stuff won't even fit in the chambers. and no you can't clean too much. the cleaning rope is known as a bore snake incase anyone wants to know.
tunedin2 3 years ago
Great video it covered the basics quite nicely.
Again great video!!
rthomas491 3 years ago
are you suppose to oil the inside of the barrel
vinceviciouz 3 years ago
You meantioned the Hopps gun oil, but didn't meantion what to oil. Do you oil the bolt as you assemble it? What about oiling the barrel, if anything for preventing rust? Great videos by the way.
taofledermaus 3 years ago
yes i was also wondering what to oil. on my brand new one the bolt is slathered in the factory oil, so im not worried about that. i would imagine we should oil the barrel, is that right kickedintheballs2000?
dumb1jw 3 years ago
aluminum won't rust but barrels will. oil inside and out but just a lite coating. never over do it. oil or grease all moving parts. places like Brownells carry these really nice needle oil bottles in sets of 3. Moly grease is nice and can handle low as well as super high temps. oh before i end this wipe all finger prints off of blued barrels with oil and or a combination of silicone. you can use gun wipes or just make your own. they also make gun socks inpregnated with silicone/oil
tunedin2 3 years ago
wow putting that bolt in is just difficult!
it took me 30 minutes to get it right.
dumb1jw 3 years ago
lol ya it can be alittle pain in the ass the first time.
kickedintheballs2000 3 years ago

kickedintheballs2000 3 years ago
I found that reassembling the trigger group is very hard. I even found an exploded diagram on the net and it was still tricky. I took mine apart to install a "light trigger" spring kit. (seems exactly the same...)
taofledermaus 3 years ago
Ya the trigger group can be tricky but as long as you remember how you took it apart its not really that hard ( From Tec point of view )
I know when I installed my auto bolt release it took me alittle bit to put everything back together but afew trials and errors later I got it.
