And I guess they pay the bondsman back over time (if they do everything by the book, show up and face theri charges, etc).

@Simlagg no, that just means they can sit at home until their court date instead of sit in jail until their court date. if the court thinks they'll try to run away they set no bail or ridiculously high bail so that they have to wait in jail.

@Simlagg No, they get to leave jail that night as opposed to sitting in jail waiting for their hearing. They still have to come back to court and face their charges later. Usually, a bail bondsman puts up the money and they pay the bondsman 10% of the entire bail. Then, if they don't show up in court, a warrant is issued for their immediate re-arrest. And I guess they pay the bondsman back over time (if they do everything by the book, show up and face theri charges, etc).
