I've watched and read about Katherine the most, as she is the most intriguing of Henry VIII wives, in my opinion. She was born to be a grand woman, was queen longer than any of Henry's wives and stood steadfast to what she loved most, and that was her faith, her daughter and husband. The way she was treated after Anne came dancing into the picture was horrible. I still don't see why Spain didn't help her more. They did prevent what she couldn't bear to lose most, and that was an annulment.
You know I've never seen a version of the portrait at 0:11 when you can see clearly the colour of her eyes, if you don't mind me asking where did you get it?
I like that version of the portrait a lot. It actually looks like Katharine. I've always thought the other version of that portrait where you cannot see the eye color looked more like Juana.
When I visited Katherine's grave a few years ago there were fresh flowers on it. Apparently people do this all the time. It just shows how much people respect her even hundreds of years after her death.
Yeah apparently there is hardly ever a time when there is not fresh flowers or pomegrantes on her grave - people just leave them anonymously. Also, there is still a service in her memory at Peterbourgh every year, on the 450th anniversary of her death I think they made quite a big thing of it in Peterbourgh.
YeOldeTune, aren't pieces of anne scattered all over the place, anne was buried in a undisclosed location after her beheading, people don't know (or care) where she's buried. Catherine was the true and only wife and Queen of Henry VIII. anne was a homewrecking slut, who the people hated.
Anne tomb is in St Peter ad Vincula Chapel (Tower of London) and people leave her flowers. I also saw a pic where a family has an Anne Boleyn statue and another has a Jane Seymour in their garden. The six were true Queens since the the six were married to Henry. People hated Anne in her time, now she is loved and for manyTudor fans and scholars she is the fave wife.
despite what you think , Anne Boleyn has many fans. She is the favorite of most Tudor fans and scholars. Katharine fans don't realise that. And your remarks about Anne are rude and uncalled for- you act like she was Hitler or something! Who died and made YOU God?
Just to be fair, some Anne fans don't realise that some people aren't interested in her, or don't like her. Her fans are the loudest, but not the majority. Most people are interested in all the of the Tudor dynasty. And the majority of scholars don't consider Anne their favourite. To be honest, it all come's back to Henry VIII, he's the one everyone talks about and everyone wants to know more about.
mmmhmmm, I see where you're coming from. I think the real focus of the Tudor dynasty is Henry and Elizabeth. I just think his remarks about Anne are uncalled for- and besides, I hate the word slut- why aren't men called sluts? It's sexism.
@AnaliaHyrule Most scholars don't pick "favorites." They may be more interested in one person than another, but that doesn't mean they "like" that person more. Anne helped spur major religious changes in England, which is a huge factor in scholars' interest in her.
I have a huge online collection of portraits of Katherine. She is my favourite Queen and she needs be remembered. She is often not talked about until after 1525...but she was Queen from 1509 to 1533. She is a great woman, with a great history, and should be focused on for her strength, ability, and her unrelenting soul.
I've been to this video so many times. To many to count.....lol I just can't stop watching it. Yeah, you know what? I wish they would make a few movies about her life, from beginning to end. I sure would watch.
I totally agree! He early life to me is just as ((if not more) fascinating than her later life, her early years of marriage to henry are facinating, not to mention she was a child bride, teenage widow, and born and raised on the battlefield!
Beautiful video, some of my faveourite pics of Catherine in here, the only pics that are some of my favourites are the 3 stained glass windows of her as a young woman and a watercolour of her as a young woman(with a matching one for henry) 5 stars and favourited!
Today is Queen Katharines birthday Dec 16th. Happy birthday your grace you are not forgotten.

I do think that out of all their siblings Juana and Catalina look the most alike.

I have this portrait in a postcard I bought in Spain.

Anne also have flowers, especially on her anniversary. It seems those six women will never die in our memories.

True the wives do all seem to have flowers at some points, but I think it's quite amazing that Catherine constantly has flowers on her grave.

AnaliaHyrule, Anne is not THE ABSOLUTE favorite of most Tudor fans and scholars. What are you talking about?

I was just annoyed with him saying no one cares about Anne. Anne has a lot of fans.

Katharine I think was the most beautiful out of Henry's wives.
ForEverSnoopy 2 years ago 4
Yes so do I, you can tell by portraits and descriptions none of the other wives "thrilled the hearts of everyone" :-)
katharinethequene 2 years ago
I don't think so. I found Boleyn, Parr and Seymour nicer than her in the portraits.
YeOldeTune 2 years ago
But there are no contempary portraits of Anne.
katharinethequene 2 years ago
It is said that her most famous portrait is a copy of a lost original and it's similar to the likeness of Anne her daughter wore in a ring.
