  • AMAZING!

  • @thomy245 the yugoslavenian band riva was actually from croatia...they won with Rock me baby in 1989

  • Croatian Is Good Cuz We See A Lot Of Croats In Eurovision I Think They Like To Show....(Croatia Won JESC In 2003)

  • One of the best songs ever in the Eurovision. I still can't believe it didn't win. I think there is a bias against songs from minority languages.

  • Very beautiful song!!!

    12 points from Poland!!!

  • danijela looks like tea leoni - a little bit :)

  • One of the most beautiful songs in Eurovision ever!!! Greetings from Spain!

  • Yugoslavia won in 87, but that was Croatian group and Croatian song and next year's ESC was held in Zagreb so.. Yes, we won that year!

  • Yugoslavia won in 1989 ;)))

  • @SonyGirl7 No, in 89! ;)

  • HAHA...

  • unfortunatelly never!!

we had some good chances but never!!!!

  • isuse, kako smo nekad slali dobre pjesme, ma i ove godine smo dobru proslali ali eto...

  • Indeed. Their best placing ever is 4th place (which they achieved twice, in 1996 and 1999). This despite having a slew of strong entries in the mid-to-late 90s, such as this one here.

  • Never. I think it is a real shame that this BEAUTIFUL song did not win.

  • kad sam vidjela ovu Danijelu na šta liči...

  • tu smo bili u top 5 dobro ljudi ,a sada vec prema zadnjima to nije dobro..

  • It is a good song, still I find it a bit dated, but anyways, that last note by the woman in red is unbelievable haha.

  • wow. they can truly sing!

  • At last.I've been trying to find this beautifu song for ages.Great song and beautiful voices.(From Malta)

  • powerful

  • it is very beautiful!!!

  • which position did it get?

  • 6th place

  • What a great song!!It could be top 3!!!

  • beautiful song!!

  • good song :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • One of the best songs ever on ESC!

  • uf sva sam se naježila...

  • Super! Zelo lep refren.

  • I just remeber that I was crying while they performed this song in ESC...was so touched....hahaha:)..I was 18;)

  • I love a lot this song !!!

    very good one :-))

  • Bloody brilliant have wanted to re hear this for years... great track..

  • Wow, kakav glas!

  • A very beautiful song!

  • For me--no. 1 Eurovision 95 and forever

  • How nostalgic! :-D A really wonderful song and great singers! The preveiw video was also excellent and matched the song perfect! No wonder this ended on 6th!

  • TACKY MY FOOT! If you don't like it, don't watch it, nobody is forcing you!

  • Absolutley love this song & I loved it the very first time I head all those years ago. Should have won. What a shame!

  • ufffffffff

  • THE BEST OF THE ENTIRE 1995 Eurovision. Bravo from Russia!

  • But in 1995, Anabel Conde was great too. ;)

  • I agree Annabel was great as well. What did you think of the Norwegian song that won in 1995? I'm glad you liked Verka. I think that his losing is the biggest injustice in ESC history. I've joined his online fan club and written to him, and I'd LOVE to meet him.

  • lolol... 1st question: i think the 1995's winning song was the turnaround in the ESC "usually sunged" songs: it wasn't sunged!. If u notice, from that moment on the music start to be different. I'm a ESC lover and i notice that.

2nd.: u cant imagine how many times i've heard here Lasha Tumbai, and GOP GOP ... i transformed them on my mp3 calling rings on my phone lol... ;).. i also would like to meet Danilko... he must be a very funny person... ;) greetings from Portugal

  • Should have won the ESC that year!

  • Agree... and Verka in 2007... ;)

  • One of the finest ballads ever in Eurovision.

  • A very lovely song from Croatia. The musical arragement is superb and the voices are wonderful! Despite of the difficulty of the arragement, this was one of the best songs from 1995 and from ESC!

  • I simply love this song!

  • This and Neka mi ne svane are the best Croatian entries.

  • Yes, I think I agree - though I also have a soft spot for their '93 debut (the vocals in that are just beautiful!)

  • Croatia almost always submit good songs. I love the two that you mentioned. I also think their entries in 1999, 2000 and 2001 were very good. This song is absolutely beautiful- should have won.

  • @verkaforever

Should have won THIS instead of NOCTURNE??

What else we will hear.... (with no offence though)

  • PROUD TO BE CROAT

  • Nice tune!!

  • I was surprised to discover that there was opera in the contest this early on. I thought opera in Eurovision began with Malta's entry in 2004. I have enjoyed all operatic Eurovision entries- I can't believe Slovenia didn't even make the Top 10 in 2007- Verka was easily the best song, but Slovenia should have done much better

  • Oh, opera in Eurovision is a much, much older affair than you think! Check out Sweden's 1965 entry or Austria's 1962 one, both with operatic voices! (on second thought, don't check them out, since both are pretty bad - esp. the Austrian entry is absolutely HORRIBLE!)

  • I did check out those two songs. You were right, they're not very good. Have you got a favourite Eurovision entry of all time?

  • Yes, what I call my all-time favorite is Luxembourg's 1965 winner, which I consider a flat-out masterpiece. Also very high on my list: France's '69, '79 and '91 entries, Italy's '64, '74 and '97 ones, and also Norway '95 and Turkey '97 - these ones make up my all-time top-10 (although, of course, there are many more that I also love).

  • You have good taste. Luxembourg's 1965 winner was very catchy, and the French song of 1991 was also great- it should have won. Italy's 1964 winner was also a beautiful song. Some of my other favourites are Israel '98, Sweden's 1974 winner, and United Kingdom '96. As for my favourite of all time, you might be able to guess that from my user name.

  • Sorry to be an intruder... i LOVE Angel from Chiara on 2005 ESC.

But Also Duo Datz with Kan and so many others..that belong to my childhood for instance Gengis Kan i remember so sing it (la la la la) out loud.. without knowing a word of english..lolol

  • That woman in red (I don't know her name, could someone tell me?), must hold the record for the highest note ever sung in the Eurovision.

  • that woman in red's name is lidija horvat-dunjko

  • Thanks for the info.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Thanks for posting this, tasosk3.

  • You're welcome! :-) As for the highest note ever sung in the contest, I believe it's a close one between her and Monica Aspelund (Finland '77), who also does an impossibly high note at the song's climax!

  • Yes, as I was typing the comment I thought it would either be her or Monica Apselund- who was also really good in my opinion (did you like her?). Eimear Quinn who won for Ireland in 1996 also does a very high note, but I don't think it's anywhere near as high as the two we've mentioned.

  • Oh, yes, Monica gave an excellent performance in an amazing song - surely one of that year's best! And I agree about Eimear Quinn, who generally had a high voice.

  • Yes, and that was a time when Finland deserved much better than they got - an amazing, powerful song indeed. And this song - yes, it's indeed very beautiful, but I find Lidija to kind of overshadow Danijela - though she would get her definite spotlight three years later.

  • You may be right, but I personally think that Danijela's more "earthy" and "plain" vocal actually balances Lidija's operatic stylings quite nicely. Don't get me wrong, the operatic voice was needed here to give the song that certain sense of classical grandeur, but TWO operatic voices would be too much and kind of overload the song. As it is, I think it strikes a quite right balance.

  • 1977 was one of the best Eurovision years in my opinion- although the best Eurovision song ever didn't come on the scene until 30 years later. I think Monica deserved much better than 10th place.

  • Fortunatly the Icelandic jury didn't here Eimear Quinn "great" voice and gave it zero points. Instead Estonia got douze points from us :)

  • Thus once again demonstrating that the Icelandic jury and I have nothing whatsoever in common.
