I've played at more courts in the city in a week than u do in a year. and ive seen alot of leagues where they dunk all over the steel back hoops (go watch soul in the hole, its on youtube). Nobody on this earth is strong enough to tear a rim off a steel backboard, Go check out the way they play in the tri state league in harlem, thats on youtube too.

The old hoops at the cage were steel backs and i've seen pros play their and dunk all over them, the old rucker park where julius erving played were steel backs. Now ur gonna sit here and say that ten thousand people filled up the court to watch dr. what playground do you play yur leagues at? Maybe u play on older rims that cant take a beating. But if ur playin on a double rim with a metal backboard, dunking wont do anything to the hoop, it'll hurt your hands the most, the only thing a dunk on one of those hoops will do is shake the basket for like a minute or two. and u play in the 18 and over leagues, so its basically the same as any streelball league in the city. I dont undersatnd why they dont allow dunking.
