I turn the gps switch to nav as soon as I am given the runway and approach inst. anywhere from 40 - 100 miles out. When I get the final vector to intercept the localizer and contact the tower it is usually about 20 miles out. I slow to 160 knts. and watch the blue triangles on the gps. As I get closer to them I turn on the APP button. I turn off the AP and AT at 100 ft and gently flare. I get a smooth landing everytime. Set AP to 140 kts with 30 deg flaps after intercepting localizer.
Do I have to LIne up with the Runway partly by myself? When I just fly via AP I get off course a lot. So I have to be in a certain angle to make the ILS approach work?
there is no real gps on a 738, its the IRS system, well there is a GPS but theres no like screen... its only for the navigation computers... the gps tells the computers where the plane is
nice vid dude I do just like you on my fs but when I land my plane it stops completely and it doesn't keep going like at 20knots so I can taxi my plane. It stops at the middle of the runaway and I have to put the flaps down to keep going. What do you think is it?
how far exactly are u from the airport? if ur like 25miles out ILS doesnt go that far out. get on a 30 degree intercept so u have to turn 30 degrees to intercept the localizer so u want to come in on it at an angle
this is a great tutorial it has helped me alot, one wrong thing i have to pick out is that, you had the auto brake set to max :| you have 1,2,3 and max for a normal landing 2 is fine, but max? that's what you'd want for a emergency landing ! non the less excellent video 5* im subscribing ;)
Really, thx for the tips. Now i got a little tip for you too: try turn off the APR hold/Autopilot a little later (like 200ft above the rwy), then you won't ga crazy like that :S
Thanks for this tutorial :) I had lots of problems with ILS-landings the past days (turning away from the airport). I'll go try this now!

When I fly an Ils Approach I turn off the autopilot when I feel confortable enough to land the plane manually( around 500FT for me )
But 200FT is ok too;)
