yeah, not all doctors are in favor of perineal massage because they are scissor happy and just want to cut your perineum up.

actually doctor will perform an episiotomy to control the tear. if it is not done, in many cases, the natural tear will be much worse than if an episiotomy is performed. just a safety precaution, they sew you back up better than before and you don't even know it happened
