  • Its just sounds like a bunch of Evo IX geeks that cant accept change and live in Tokyo Drift Dreamland. The X is a much better car all around, and to say that it looks like a grandmas car? Really, because the 8 and 9 both look like a grannys car that a 17 year old got ahold of. Boy racers, the X is a mans car.

  • evo ix and evo x is both outstanding cars.. I agree the evo x have the hottest front but the rear look spoils the car. My dream car still stays the evo ix mr. I think it the depends what you want. the evo x is safer and more luxuries.. and with all the electronics and upgraded suspension a monkey can drive it. the evo ix is much more raw power and you actually have to work harder around corners than the evo x. the evo x is more tamed.

  • I recently drove the Evo x to see if it was worth trading in my and it couldnt even keep up with my nearly stock Evo 8 honestly if u want an Evo 8mr or the 9 are alot faster

  • @IVEMER i was just thinking that. I've always liked the look of the new evo X, but man they keep teasing us with that 9 MR and it simply looks more aggressive. The stance, overall shape, and the big wing on the 9 = boy racer in a good way. The X still looks aggressive... in the front view. Rest is more plain

  • @vlegaspi nothing comes close when you fully built the 4g63 yes AMS and other companies loves how easy to built and tune it. I still preffer a properly modded IX over the X.

  • @TheTechnoMuppet not so fast. 4g63t dominating 4b11t doesnt happen everyday. the new 4b11t is made up of aluminum meaning "lighter". The reason why Major tuning companies, like for example AMS, loves evo ix 4g63 is because the engine itself is already proven and ready to be abuse. The 4b11 needs some time to build up its name but that doesnt mean that evo 10 is slow. Yeah the X is slower because it is heavier yes that true but all of this depends on the car owner on how he tune his car

  • @kangri08 Oh really? I just bought my 9 3 days ago. I test drove both the gsr and mr X and its junk. It does handle pretty well though. But other than that its junk. The 9 has raw power. If you in to being a attention whore the 9 is the way to go. Trust me the X is not a head turner. It looks like a lancer with a nice hood.

    the cheap lancer

    lancer gt- with 16 inch rims

    lancer gts- 16 inch rims and spoiler

    Lancer ralli art - wich is turbo and kinda looking like the evo

    and the EVo ....

  • the evo x has the better engine because of the dual mivec. period once you get into part for part especially when cams and a tune get into the picture the evo ten wiil wipe away an evo nine as far as powerbands go. the weight is what kills this one. either way it wont be relevant for long as sadly they are killing the evo after 2012

  • @TurboIX actually with similar mods a ten will have the advantage in power under the curve. the advanced mivec on both cams helps greatly but hey they both kick ass in my book lol.

  • haha you guys have never tested both cars the X is magnificant i drive one the weight doesnt matter it still outhandles the nine along with almost every car under 300,00 grand. spend a few g's your performance is unmatched by the way weight is better distributed throughout the X than the nine and the aluminum block as opposed to the nines all iron also eliminates weight.... this is like sayin the 2002 zo6 is better than a 08 zo6 its rediculous. plus my SSS and aero package are unmatched in the 9

  • @sodazman It's slightly faster, but the new 4b11t has proved itself, especially with the layout of the engine bay it's obvious that it's more efficient. The new Evo X also out handles the IX, and definitely the VIII. Considering that the Evo X has a smaller turbo stock than both the IX and VIII, still manages to produce 300ft-lb @ the same psi of what a IX would have.. means something right? If the Evo X had a FP Red(bigger), and a IX used a FP Red(same size). The Evo X would surpass the IX.

  • @JSlShow The Evo X's problem is not the engine but weight. It's 150kg+ heavier and the engine is actually producing the same power as the Evo IX. I've seen quite a few dynoed and the IX produces almost exactly the same power but has a more aggressive boost curve and keeps the power up top better. The steering on the X is also noticeably slower and less connected. I've driven the X many times and I would say the only advantages it has over the IX is comfort, stiffness and less turbo lag.

  • @sodazman Which was resolved by a better suspension setting, .99g on a 200ft skippad. Wider tires, 18x8.5". And bigger brembo brakes. ;)

    Keeping the power up top is probably due to the IX having the biggest turbo out of the VIII + X. But you'll realize the X turbo's the most efficient, look where the intake + turbo is on the IX compared to the X. IX, it's right next to each other, sucking heat. The X turbo is far from where the intake is. And high end curve can be fixed, tighten the WGA. ;)

  • @JSlShow You can't fix the weight problem by having better suspension, wider tyres or bigger brakes. The weight will always be there to affect the power to weight ratio and handling. I've driven both many times and used to own an 8MR and the X just doesn't have the agility or explosive grunt of the old car. To me it's just not as much fun to drive the X. While it's still a great car, I personally prefer the last gen one.

  • @sodazman The IX is a much better car than the VIII MR. The VIII MR does have a more "live feel" 'cause the suspension's too stiff. They tend to bump around, the IX has a slightly softer set up which makes it much better. And the MR (6sp) transmission's made out of glass, those things shatter under pressure.

  • @JSlShow I've driven the IX many times and I like it more too but mostly because the engine is more responsive. Regarding the MR's transmission I was making close to 400hp atw for years without issues. It's not as strong as the 5sp in the RS but it's not as brittle as what most think either. If you launch the car every 5 minutes then obviously even the strongest transmission will break.

  • @sodazman A local shop of mine was producing 453WHP on his Evo IX with stock turbo + meth on a dynojet. After about the third or fourth tune, the synchros were totally gone. I won't lie, it'd be nice to have a IX too. But my main point + defense is, the X's is still underrated for the car it is. It's still proving itself over time, and yes like you said it is heavier, but I have to disagree on the whole "affects handling" even with the weight, and the MIVEC's been improved too for powerband.

  • @Airox2009 Coming from a tuner's perspective. You really have to look into the MIVEC that the X uses. You have so much room to work with compared to the 8 and 9's. The kind of tune you can get on those is much better. I personally haven't had any experience, but with that being said.. I'm guessing you're saying the 7 will out run all 8, 9, and 10's? The Billstein shocks that comes with the Evo Xs, bigger brake + rotors, and stock 8.5" wide tires are still good improvements on the X. 7 has what?

    It's not all about the weight. I heard the 7s tends to have a softer brake force. While the 8,9,X has better braking force. 17" wheels won't even fit on the Xs, 'cause the Brembo's been upgraded. Doesn't fit it, lol.

    Weight does factor in some, but that's why the 9's and X's especially has upgraded suspension.

    But considering cars only gets better, I'm sure the MIVEC on the 7's more limited. Compared to the 8.9.Xs.

  • the problem is that they will never make the 9 in production ever again. So in order to get it i have to buy it used, and getting a used car isn't the best thing. Hopefully in the future when they redesign it they try to use the older looks.

  • i'd stick with the ix. Don't get me wrong, the x is great and all, but after reviewing tech and specs, its like he says: its a car refined to be driveable daily for people over 30. Two things though: i'm not 30, and i also plan to use my evo for performance reasons, and the ix is better for that.

  • @psychoticflow1 The X is easy to mod as long as it's tuned. My buddy is running 350whp for just an intake and exhaust with tuned.

  • @ honda4life what do u mean when u say u don't like the foglights on the 9? I have a 9 and the foglights are built into the headlights. I love my evo and wouldn't trade it for the 10. If u look at every evo made before the 10 u could see that they stuck to the same shapes, lines and design. I think the 10 is a totally different car from any previous evo. The 4g63 motor is king. Say what u want about either car as it's all a matter of opinion.

  • @stealthcorvette my brother had a 9 pushed it to a good daily driven hp about 375+ at the wheels sold it to his friend now drives the 10 and i gotta say i love driving the 10 its speed and luxury all in one the 9 is just a race car period but the 10 has a lil extra navi rockford fosgate sub it feels smooth but yet powerful so the 10 is a better choice over all

  • @alienlivingform I don't know about that. Most people can't buy more than one car, so they'll want every comfort they can have from the same performance car they get. If the manufacturer knew the people who buy this car could afford to have 3 more cars in their garage, they would trim it down dramatically.

    That's why you only find competition models of high performance cars like Ferrari and Lamborghini. Anyone who buys them always owns more cars.

  • @alienlivingform having driven both a 9 and a 10, you can trust me when i say you want the 10. with the 9 you constantly have to drive it like you stole it, its painfully uncomfortable, will blow your eardrums if you spend anything more than 10 seconds in it, and will totally obliterate your spine.

    the EVO 10 is quiet, easy to drive and comfortable, and at the flick of a switch you can turn it into a firebreathing monster. my choice everyday.

  • @JTthestreetking Not at all, the 4B11T engine makes huge power with just simple bolt-on's. :3 It's so far proving to be even more responsive to modding than the previous 4G63 models. It may carry more weight, but can get a lot more power mod for mod. :D

  • Honestly, this evo made the transition into a more loaded car almost flawlessly. They added more options like 6 disc cd changer, dvd nav, premium sound system and other stuff that evos of old never had and still made a blistering fast car.
