  • This looks like the same 3/4 scale Stuka that I saw some two decades ago. Even the late great Hans Rudel had a chance to see it. Still looks great but someday I like to see a full scale Stuka fly.

  • Yes. Same one. Hans Rudel did fly in it.

  • It was also an effective weapon because of the accuracy of its bombing tactics and coordination with the ground forces. Radios played a huge part in what was then new technology. Hard to imagine now, but radio communication was not an easy thing back then. I have a siren on it and will be installing a more common type to see if it makes a sound that is more like the type that most people think of. A lot of legend surrounds the StuKa.

  • I have been invited to many shows and have attended those that I can. Weather is a factor as well as time. The City of Portland, Maine, is having a show this June at their airport and I plan to attend that one. The reaction to the Stuka is not universally positive although people who are interested in that period of history do seem to enjoy seeing it.

  • Maine

  • That is fantatic...brilliant biuld.

  • Thank you very much. Check "Stuka Strike".

  • I have alot of respect for you, what a plane! Sadly the only flyworthy stuka? Why don't you take it to airshows (battle of britian / ww2 flights) it would be great to see the stuka make a return over english skies!!

  • Thank you very much for your kind words. Yes, this is sadly the only version flying that I am currently aware of. I know that a replica flew in Russia but I am not sure of its status. I would love to see it fly over Europe or England as well.

  • Ist das noch die einzige flugfähige Stuka?

  • As far as I know, this is the only Stuka model still flying. I saw film of a model in Russia but I heard that it is not now flying.

  • Beautiful Plane!

Upgrade it to the "Kanonenvogel" ^^

  • Thanks. It's a Bertha model, so changing to the Gustav would take more metal working skill than I have. It would be excellent to see a Kanonenvogel flying, I agree.

  • Awesome model. On of my favorite WWII planes, up there with the A6M and the Mustang.

One thing sucks about it, though- no air sirens. Those famous "Jericho Trumpet" sirens are what made the Stuka so famous.

  • As you probably know, the air driven sirens were removed as the war progressed for many reasons. I have installed a siren which cannot be seen in its profile and is electrically activated. I have come to believe that the legend of the Stuka siren is much greater than what the siren sound actually was. So it would seem that they were successful in the use of this early psychological weapon. I also think that the sound of an aircraft in a high speed dive also added to the terrifying noise.

  • Who built your Stuka and from what aircraft?

  • Louis Langhurst built it. Completed in 1979. Landing gear and control stick from a PT-19. Frame, skin, all else was fabricated by him. Scaled to JU87B2 which is in Chicago museum.

  • Nice! You are a very lucky man.. Take care of your Stuka, It is a masterpiece!

    Cheers

  • I want to be your tail gunner! Come take a flight to Norway! Hehe, I it your Stuka? Or is it just for the show?

  • Sure...as soon as I get to Norway, I will ask you to be the tail gunner. It is my Stuka, I am pleased to say. It is quite a machine and thank you for your comment.

  • eine hubsch Stuka! es ist eine JU-87G ?

  • Sie ist ein JU-87-B2. Keine Kanonen auf den Flugeln.

  • Viel danke. The best to you, as well.

  • oops i meant nothing else

  • this might sound a bit weird but I just love the sound of the siren, obs i dont love the bombings, its just the sound, anything else

  • If you ever decide to hit any west coast air shows, PLEASE let me know!

  • Okay. But I must say it is difficult getting to shows because of weather.

  • one thing, if i want to sought a wwIplane like fokker , don't you know something about that>>? like the prize and the speed normally about that, thx

  • I have no information on a WWI Fokker type. Sorry.

  • whatever thank for your answer first.also if i want to achieve to get a licence, which should i talk for test. is that limit into thesmall plane group?and what is the top speed of your plane?

  • I do not know the pilot license rules for Hong Kong. If you live in the US, go to the nearest airport and ask about lessons. Usually a local airport has instructors. Top speed is about 135 knots.

  • will the have the same sound of in ww2 which been called by russian(sound of devil) and how much is a plane like that nowaday?

  • I did re-activate a siren because many people ask about the diving sound. However, the actual sirens were air driven, mounted on the wheel spats and activated when the dive brakes were used. There are no actual Stukas flying today. I would assume that they would be similar in cost to the FW-190 and ME-292 replicas that are around $2 to $3 million USA dollars. I know of one JUMO 211 engine that may be purchased for $300,000 EUROS if you are interested in building a full scale model.

  • can it been use to dive?

  • Yes. Very steady in any attitude.

  • would u use it to dive?

  • have your ever takeing it to any airshows

  • Yes. If the weather was more cooperative, I would be able to get it to more of them. Will be at the Reading, PA WWII weekend in June, Ottawa in August, and others.

  • Ahh, beautiful! I remember years ago, seeing an article in an aviation magazine about this aircraft. Thanks for your kind response.

  • Great stuff - I'm envious, Stukadriver. Is your engine the original? Looks like it...

  • No. Not an original Jumo engine. This is a 7/10 scale replica built in 1979. The engine is a Lycoming GO-435-B2, 230 HP. Six cylinder with stacks attached to look like a 12 cylinder engine. Thanks for your comment.

  • Wonderful video. Can someone please post the name of the music used in the background of this video. Thanks.

  • At the risk of someone arguing with me, I will report what is on the album cover. This is a mixture of choral pieces. Two are on this video. The first is "Requiem Mass Dies iral" Guiseppe Verdi; the second is "O Fortunata" Carmina Burana, Orff.

  • Thanks Stukadriver, very appreciated!
