@justhes Ok I will PM you the drivers, there is a little performance bump but it unlocks EVERYTHING in the actual driver so i can run multiple monitors etc..its awesome.
hp laptops aint bad. ive played on a lot more unstable computers. still i dont use them, of my 10 computers i'm using a thinkpad lenovo l512. intel grphics, and i can run lik all games with this shit. mirrors edge, no problem, bf2 max settings, half life 2 ep 2 max setings, hacked antianalyzing, and pretty much ll of the games of today, doesn't make any sence.
@Usul573 the think pad uses other components as graphic card. wich means my gpu is a cpu? well i do have core i3 and 4 Gb ram and that might conclude why im able to play such games. alien ware'l kick my ass anyday.
btw i've got an other computer under rebuilding, it only needs on heck of a powerfull cpu cooler and i'l ready. it also needs a bit more powerfull psu.
the source engine is a rly flexible engine, it can run on almost anything. i had an old acer eeeehhhhhmmm dont know, but it had like 600 mb ram and costed like nothing, battlefield 1942 was unplayable, but half life 2 was. ??? still half life 2 lags on my gt6600. wtf
Its totally normal, that also the 'normal' memory of the computer is used and not only the 64MB installed on the graphic card. Naturally this is time consuming to bring the data to the Cache of the graphic processor for calculations, but thats why the resolution of an image can be higher than the memory on the graphic card. Dont forget the PC Memory-Chips :)
I have exact same specs as ur HP but my Toshiba has ATI Radeon 3100 256mb 1788 shared mb and my cpu is different. AMD Turion X2 RM-74@ 2.2ghz. Windows Experince is only 3.6 yet I can play most modern games as long as I turn down the resolution a bit and usually graphics settings to medium. Sometimes high. Depends on the game. xD
amazing isnt it. a properly coded windows game. seriously, its not really a very intensive game. not much happening in the rooms, not many explosions and stuff to take care of. that said, I had trouble running it on a very low spec videocard that I suspected would run it pretty well. so Im sure it can be optimised a lot more. just have a look at what they squeeze out of 'long-dead' platforms like the commodore 64 and amiga, in the demoscene.
you think your graphic card suck? ok at least your better than mine, mine intel 4500 with only 32mb dedicated memory bro. but i still can run games like gta sa,bully scholarship edition, the sims 3,max payne 2 and need for speed undercover on low quality setting.
i can plug it into my 40''hdtv res is like 19somrthingx1080 and it plays half life 2 maxed out at 30 fps but when i try halo 2 or something on low it barley gets past 15fps xD
Lol do you think my laptop can run crysis at higest? i have nvidia quadro nvs140m 128mb dedicated memory 1gb total and 2.0 ghz intel cpu wil i have the same performance as you?
@lenovoservice1 Ur cpu will bottleneck any potential performance that you could have. And ur graphics card wouldnt be the best. But im sure you have something different now since im replying to a 9 month old comment :P
@justhes its perfectly normal for the gpu, not ur cpu tho, the source engine (engine used for hl2 portal etc) is about 80% cpu 20% gpu (if that), if u use a core 2 duo with a gtx 580 ur results will actually be worse in portal (or other source games) then if u used an i7 extreme with integrated graphics
4500MHD has 128MB, 4500M has 64MB, so are you right with the memory or with the actual graphics? I have 4500M and I can play Portal on 1366x786 on highest settings. (AA doesn't work tho)
my friend has a Compaq CQ60-420US with this same card and his runs CSS smooth but every 5 seconds it lags to like 1fps then smooth again. we dont get it, it makes NO sense as to why it does this. his laptop has 3GB of ram and hes only using around 500mb of it in vista and in xp hes barely using over 180mb of ram. alot of source games lag like that on his system. we have the newest drivers and everything so idk why its lagging like it is.
icechen1 lol well i guess u got lucky. other games run great on my friends cq60. just source games have a strange lag. it lagged worse in vista. like every 3 seconds. now in xp it lags every 10-15 seconds to 1fps and it last for 1-2seconds then it clears up. my laptop runs CSS fine. i have a cq60-419wm but it has an nvidia chipset (8200M) he has nothing running in the background. had a prob like this with my moms computer but hers was a dieing mobo which eventually died replaced it and ran great
my laptop is very similar to yours. I cant believe how great it runs! every steam game is smooth! i run it at the 1280 x 800 or watever that one is.with all the effects and great graphics of the new games youd expect lots of lag!
the graphics performance of 4500mhd depends of your ram performance and chipset... 64mb vram is enough for hl2 engine.. btw I can run hl2 all high on x3100.. around 15-30fps
the graphics are shared and you will have 64mb dedicated graphics but it gets a boost from your ram too so reallt if you have 3gb ram it will utilize around half of your ram to enhance the graphic memory
i have the cq60 with 3gb ram and before i upgraded it wouldent run games too good but now i can run quite recent games on good settings with minimal lag
The 4500MHD graphics card is relying on your ram which if you have alot of it, it can run like a normal graphics card. But it wont be as good as a real good one.
Hey, could you try test out team fortress 2 on this intel card because i wanna know if it will work because i might get the hp dv5 with the same card as this. so could you make a video testing it?
Oh I apologize for not telling you the specs, the game was running on 1366x768 on high settings, this is where the game lags. I'm sure at 1024x768 on medium to high settings it would run a lot smoother. Now for $949.99 (the same price as this laptop) you can get a Toshiba laptop with an ATI card (dedicated) that has 512 mb of dedicated video memory. I saw this laptop at OfficeDepot and it is $949.99, however it is not on their website. Kinda wanted to send you the link but it's not there.
A Team Fortress 2 video is on the way I just haven't had the time to make it.
Since you don't have the choice... No I'm kidding. Go with the video card on the laptop I showed you, I used a 3200 once and it can barely play games on decent settings.
are you sure? i have heard mixed things like some people saying the radeon 3200 sucks and that the gma 4500 is better and then others aying the gma 4500 sucks and the 3200 is better/
also can i ask what were the specs you are using on the 3200? and what game?
With the 3200 I was playing Half-Life 2 at 1024x768 with medium to low video quality settings and the game lagged. And this is with a amd dual core cpu @ 2.0 ghz.
Were you running on battery? Because if you were, you have to disable ATI PowerPlay. I got the HD 3200 in my HP DV4-1220Us laptop, and play TF2 on high/very high and get 15FPS to 50FPS, with no AA and 4XAF at 1280X800. I can run HL2 on it maxed out, 4 or 6XMSAA, 16AF, high settings, and 1280X800 and it never goes under 20fps (normally around 45 PFS).
ppl have been playing bf2 with this card maxed out is it most likely can play bf 2142 maxed out too since my 6200tc can and its right faster than my 6200tc
Half-Life engine heavily relies on your processor to render graphics, or what otherwise other game engines let graphic cards render. Thats why it runs reasonably smooth on the majority of compatible systems. Also as far as I know, 4500mhd has high clock speed which compensates for the lack of dedicated memory to some degree.
In response to an earlier question, yes, it can run CoD4 but at lower resolutions and with low/medium settings..
the answer is easy....the intel gma 4500 mhd videocard actually ha no dedicated memory, but it can use 384 mb from the main memory. so it has actually 384 mb!
Really? Well that explains why Portal, Half-Life 2, HL2 Episode 1, and Episode 2 run great but how come Grand Theft Auto IV (4) says that I only have 126 mb dedicated? If I play GTA San Andreas at high settings it lags a bit and if I play Trackmania Nations Forever it lags a tiny bit as well on high settings.
hey im have the same laptop and its dv9730us and has 3 gigs of ram and a amd processor ruinning at 2.4 GHz and a Nvidia geforce go 7150m graphics and a 128mb of video ram and i can run gta4 with no lag at high settings and call of duty 4 at high settings ill post some videos if you like.

Heh, well this is just progress, the question is, how powerful can an inexpensive and normal laptop be for all tasks including gaming?
In the 1990s, a laptop for $1500 was utter garbage compared to how laptops are now.
If that's a Core i3 or Core i5 system it has about double the gaming power a system with a 4500MHD like this one in this video has.
But they've already moved beyond that with another set. And another is coming next year also.
