Vernon Heperi is a complete fuckwit for taking away Chad's hard-earned degree. By doing so, he has stolen years of Chad's efforts and in doing so damaged BYU's reputation by showing what an authoritarian hypocritical so-called univerisity it really is. Anyone that has ever read the words of Brigham Young knows that he was a racist spiteful polygamist that would have failed the honour code a thousand times
Whilst BYU has the right to set standards, how can they withhold a degree after a student has dedicated years and paying thousands of dollars. That is so completely wrong and they deserve to lose their tax status. Nor should the LDS church fund them with hard earned tithing dollars.
What about all the men getting women pregnant at BYU it has the nations largest illigitimate pregnancy rate. Maybe they should withhold their diplomas for or is fornication less of a crime then producing a calendar with mens chests. Fing amazing what the Mormon church gets away with.
I really thought Chad made a good case. A technicality seemed to get him and they seem to be within their legal means to withold his degree. I didn't like how the Dean was spinning the questions, but I understand he has his job to consider. Also, there is no doubt that it's obvious Chad was being difficult and not helping his case whatsoever. I don't believe they would have given him his degree if he had "passed" the Dean's interview anyways...
I think it's clear that Chad is intentionally being difficult so he can stir up media attention. If he didn't want to abide by BYUs honor code or be held accountable for his actions why didn't he just go to a different school? They were trying to give him the opportunity to get his degree back and he is acting like a stubborn child refusing to cooperate.
... Check-out the continued use of aversion-shock therapy now off-campus from BYU. Specifically ONLY to gay BYU students-&-LGBT Mormons! Christian HUH?!?
he was unethical in making the calendar. do an online correspondence course with one hand and place his small wee wee in the other...but do it on somebody else's campi ..................................
Denying a student his diploma just because he blew a kiss to his mom.
The administrators should be taken to court over what happened.
If the student wins the lawsuit, he should get his diploma and his resume` fixed so it doesn't say he had to go to school an extra year to get his diploma, if need be.
I think you have 2 seprate stories mixed up. It was a high school student that was denied the ceremony acceptance of his diploma for wearing a track cord when he was told not to and signed a document saying he would comply with school standards. He still had the opprotunity to get his diploma the following monday but chose to wine to the media.
BYU is a fucking joke. Anyone who attends BYU should transfer over to the U Of U at least there they treat you with respect and not like a fucking child and yes I agree with Zingalind, it's a cult.... I'm so glad I'm living my life free with out all the bullshit.
so if someone is excommunicated AFTER they finish classes and walk, BYU can STILL withhold a diploma? If so, are they going after EVERY person who has graduated and then been excommunicated years later?
Is there any way you can get your credits transfered? Or at least to get a copy of your transcript, so you can show another school you have taken the required courses and hold the knowledge necessary? You may have to take a few courses still, but at least you will have a degree (that isn't from a Churchiversity)
mormons do not have standards. they have outlandish, extreme, radical standards that don't promote morality--they promote censorship and repression of natural feelings and emotions. fuck you.

BYU is an embarrassment to higher education. It is disgusting to listen to this official talk himself in around in circles.
Any future students should stay as far away from BYU as possible.
