  • muchas notas, poca musica

  • 4:35 omfg i cant stand the amount of awesomness coming out of that amp

  • I'm glad he doesn't just live off stuff like this, he has class for miles on his recrdings and worked out performances. This is cool still, but he is a step above the other Idols and Youtubers out there in his writing and performance and this is just him celebrating.

  • Grande Daniele!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Needs a Ibanez sponsorship

  • I don't like this style...but you are very good...

  • Great hands for electric like as violin nice technique

  • People just walk by thinking "what da fuck is that?" and go away without listening because they are proud, too proud, dont be proud in life,it is a risky and regretable job

  • Lol around 3:00 daniele's guitar sbrego cit. ahah

  • i personally don't like his style, but was impressed with his technique, would like to check this guy out in a couple of years when hes more well rounded! all in all the haters need to give the guy a break, the best musicians are the ones who never stop learning, give him a break and in a couple years he may sound even better than he does now!

  • guy snizzing at 4:15

  • @tautologicalnickname LOL... well spotted!

  • nice that some one with some skill won it

  • totale controllo dello strumento..Divertimento e bravura..mammamamia!!dategli un premio nobel

  • Wow this kid kicks ass! And of course all the little trolls came crawling out of her holes and are spamming the comment site with BS ,Jesus!!

  • Bravissimo

  • HOLY SHIT... this guy has one of the most amazing skills i have ever seen.. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD this was a fucking improv..

  • hundreds of cold lifeless notes. outstanding technique, but where's art, where's feeling?

  • @KEPHALLE You none posting video guys need to get a sense of proportion... this was shot post guitar idol final, Daniele Gottardo was just having a fun jam on an unrehearsed backing track. No one was hurt in the making of this video.

  • @lauriemonk this guy is actuly getting closer to guthrie govan. which is scary. hes prhasing style is more for melodic minor huanting way. its like classical walts. and as said above he need sto show off for recognition. if you want to hear his prhasing look up cariology and marrekish market by him. STEVE VAI JUTS GOT OWNED!!! TAKE HIS SPOT MAN!!!!! seroiuly he isnt even good... i mean come on paul gilbert should have got more credit than this guy... and paul is a way better than vai

  • @o0StrayKittY0o There's not one note this kid plays in this vid that gives you any sense of emotional response. It's all just one big techinical mash up. Opinions are objective but to say Steve Vai isn't even good at guitar is utter ass-hattery. Before spouting off like you know what a good player is, you should post a video of yourself displaying mind-blowing technique AND originality then maybe you can be taken seriously. Meanwhile, your post is fail.

  • @lauriemonk apart from my mouse jimmy

  • @lauriemonk I think the other guy that made a response is just jealous, I think this Daniele guy is amazing and I would love to sing a few tunes with him in a David Lee Roth/Steve Vai style jam. I play guitar myself and would die to have his talent. So, 3-thumbs up for your response to a doe-doe saying that there were "hundreds of cold, lifeless notes" ---- to me, he was playing the guitar to its extreme!! Cheers

  • @KEPHALLE jealous. look up his other videos. he's an amazing composer. PEACE!!

  • @GDT1124 please trust me: i'm not. i just have a very different taste about guitar playing, and what kinds of music give me the chills and those that just make me yawn. i'm not narrow minded, i just prefere different manifestations of musical creativity. cheers!

  • @KEPHALLE the feeling is from 0:00 to 5:05. thats what he was feeling at the time and thats what he played. he obviously felt like jamming out, who are you to say he didnt put feeling into this? looked to me like he had a fun time playing it too

  • @museman91 i'm just a regular guy with passion for guitar with the chance to express his own opinion just like you and others do. nothing even slightly close to a personal attack. as i stated before: to my PERSONAL TASTE and music understanding i feel emotionally involved with other kinds of playing stiles. i belive there's a big leap from just feeling what you play and really comunicate and transmit that feeling to the audience, and in this case that leap is missing IMHO. cheers!

  • @KEPHALLE want to see lifeless notes, go listen to gentaro satomura, Daniele Gottardo's music is organic and breathing!

  • Comment removed

  • @KEPHALLE totally agree to much technique

  • @KEPHALLE This guy is a player!

  • @KEPHALLE This old complaint again. The guy can play really well. You just don't like the song

  • @Metallimeister it might be old, but still relevant. i'm not commenting on his obviously high technique, but his ability to use it to create art.

  • @KEPHALLE He's plenty artistic.

  • @KEPHALLE so true im 15 and i know that

  • Did He just throw the Pick on purpose !

  • fallo un vibrato ogni tanto -.-

  • he deserved it.indeed.

  • tis is just a bunch of bs...no real melody and feel...he may have the vai award...but i dought he will go anywhere but but to playing back up for somebody.....

  • @metachozoite

he didnt hear the baking track before

  • @FamGuitarist NO excuses! If your going to get up on a stage and act like a bad ass and protray that you are one,....you best better be one~ Him fucking up justs hows he has a long way to go still.

  • @metachozoite

    sorry, forgive me

  • @metachozoite when you have a guitar playing video to view I'll take your comments more seriously. Meantime stop picking on people who have at least posted their own guitar playing for communal observation and feedback.

  • Bravo, outstanding technique, damn boring.

  • he's like guthrie govan's son lol

  • Well what can you say but sheeet man there aint nothing you carnt do it looks very nice bud I'll be paying $80 a ticket for your first Australian show for sure see you here some time !!!!!!

  • hahahaha BUGGER I wana Slap the face man ... so annoying ...

  • lol with the pick

  • Very much enjoying this guys tone!

  • Tasteless? intresting opinion. He is improvvising that staff literally doing other things. This is not a song where you can taste his expression. I agree he has not yet the invisible breath that only age give (not always..) but .. not to bad. Go to see "the simpson". I had never seen anything like that. Tecnically over the sky (for me of course..) and musically very intresting.. and I'm going to wach this video again for the tird time.

  • Let me tell you who is the best player in the world.....Noone ...everybody has their own style feel and musical interest.Every player has something unique to give you.Guitar playing is not a contest as many of us think its about music.I know many guitarists are heavy posers and dont understand that but thats the truth. In the same way that you cant find the most beautiful woman in the world you cant also find the best guitarist in the world.

  • @denisgiann well said, good guitar is where you find it!

  • @denisgiann now thats a real guitarrist speaking right there

  • @denisgiann holy words. In the youtube the 90% of posters waste their time writing who do that better. No fucking care. "vognan's version of vodoo child is better then Hendrix's one". Go there and stay there please! Daniele is a monster and he is not alone. Excellent. the more the better.

  • @denisgiann exactly... people dont realize that what they think is fact is actually opinion. Which doesnt piss me off, it makes me sad actually. How can anyone be that ignorant? And theres ppl who honestly believe that who they like the most is the best... you cant tell them that its called an opinion because their too thick headed. Its crazy...

  • @denisgiann Damn right!

  • awesome technique , but this impro is really bad .. if u are musician and not a shredder wannabe u know what i mean. just close ure eyes and listen.......... gottardo is a tapping god is he a guitar god?

  • haha stuart hunting the picks on the ground

  • Poor Stuart, he is a great player, yet here he is just Daniele's bitch lol.

  • spider tapping!!!

  • Just a guitarist among many other.

Good, very good technique but sounds like 80s crap.

  • just a guitarist among many other.

Good, very good technique but sounds like crap 80s.

  • Such a legend!!!!!!

  • The guy in the background is very nice ;)

  • O_O

-.- mah....

  • shit the bed!

  • uhuuuulll sonzao!!!! curti

  • holy shit this guy is fucking amazing

  • Che palle...

  • what's the red thing on his guitar?

It's not a capo? Is it a muter thing for the strings? Is there any product names for that?

  • hair band ;)

  • Are there any products designed for it other than hairbands? x((

My local store doesn't sell hairbands (Grocery store)

  • @moooocat Try Target or Wal-Mart in the girl/makeup section

  • @lauriemonk what is it for, ive seen people putting that on their guitar, whats the purpose?

  • @moooocat It's called string dampener.

  • @moooocat its a mute, so when hes tapping ife he bumps any of the other strings it mutes it.

  • @moooocat do you know the elastic ring for keeping long hair togheter? "rubber band" I guess.

  • L'assistente tecnico dietro sembra Magilla Gorilla !

Vuoi ascoltare daniele oppure criticarlo come fanno tutti?

  • gimp guitar... lets masturbate constantly, the art of phrasing really lacks some weight hear!!!!!!!! Edward Van Halen....

  • What do you mean with "Edward Van Halen..."?

  • It's tremendous playing considering this video is the first time Daniele is hearing this song! He's a natural and should be one of the big stars of guitar in the next few years, to my ears at least.

  • He should have won .

  • he's just improvising you dicks. and he didnt win guitar idol 2009. jack tharramat did.

    fucking idiots.

  • Correct to say that Daniele won the Steve Vai award, plus one of the other major prizes.

  • but he didnt win guitar idol.

    as the title states.

  • O dear.. Read carefully the title..

It means that he won the guitar from the guitar idol, and not the guitar idol..

  • BRAVO Daniele. Pettinali tutti.......

  • i cant believe that sad bastard saying this is just shit, this guy is just improvising i think its amazing playing because its unrehearsed and you can tell he's putting a lot into it, its better than your steve vais out there cant fucking stand that type of perfectly crafted shite, i like this guy because he's just ripping

  • come sempre straordinario questo ragazzo! Vai Daniele sei il mio chitarrista preferito!

  • grande chojinkid , la penso come te..

  • There is no definitive objective way to play guitar. It is different relative to the style you aim to achieve. Daniele is amazing at what he does, and may or may not be good at other styles. That's it really, end of discussion.

  • that strat has to go...

  • it's easy to play like that with so many effects on

  • He just brought his guitar along and plugged into the amp...

  • i can hear a lot of distortion here, and a very long hall reverb effect, and some compression too

  • Compression could be natural from the amp, some amps have very high compression.

And those amps are very high Gain.

And I'll give you the reverb, but how does it make it any easier to play?

  • compression eliminates high and low peaks from your picking, whether you pick a string bad or good the result from your amp is a good picking with the same level as the others, doing this compression works as a sustainer also, reverb and delay round up the tone creating a pleasent aura around your sound which often cover quick mistakes and add sustain

  • and did I mention a delay? nope I'm doing it now

  • I'm telling he just plugged into what was here... he did not bring anything other than the guitar.

  • and so? effects might've been incorporated in the amp or in the mixer, pedals are not the only existing effects, all those that I mentioned are clearly hearable

  • I'm just telling you what he did... we had lunch... he plugged in did a little warm up and played over the house backing track that he's not heard before. What ever he was plugged into was the same as Mike Casswell and Andy James earlier in the day. May be you could post a video of you doing this type of playing in a similar scenario?

  • what he did (and what you did) before he started to play is irrelevant, effects are on, no matter where they come from

  • Point taken. Will you be posting your video showing how easy it is?

  • this is not my style, I play rock blues, a genre where I can mix both art and speed, unlike this shit

  • fine, not worried about the style, post some and I'll check that out as well. Thanks

  • Excuses, excuses, excuses.

It's easy to talk trash about other players, but it takes real talent to actually back up those comments with solid playing.

You won't do that, because you can't play. You're just one of thousands of anonymous YouTube critics who hide behind the anonymity of the Internet and act all high and mighty.

If you could play, you'd simply post a video or an audio clip demonstrating that you're so much better than Daniele Gottardo.

    Too bad you can't.

  • why should I show my videos to an anonymous moron like you? if you think I can't play, and you're happy thinking this way that's fine, that doesn't prevent me from sleeping tonight, I guess you're a rookie, that's why you're here prasing gottardo, if you were a real musician you wouldn't release shit from your mouth critizing people you don't even know, music is art, not competition, and a good musician is not the one who copies melodies boasting speed and useless tapping skills

  • because you have not got any... and as a seasoned professional you've not need to have any posted.

  • That's right, keep talking. Tell us what a great player you are, use words to try and convince people that you are a better guitarist than Daniele Gottardo.

Words. They're all just words. He's up there playing, gaining praise from people like Steve Vai, while you're sitting in front of your computer, telling people that you're better than him.

    Truth hurts, I know. :)

  • YngtchieMusic, judging by your talking it reinforces my theory that you're one of the many rookie brats who thinks steve vai is the best guitarist in the wolrd cause he plays fast, you're pathetic, I suggest you listen to some real guitar players such as jimy hendrix, jimmy page, albert lee, robben ford, danny gatton, the hellecasters, but I'm sure you ain't even able to play 2 chords, that's why gottardo is a great player for you

  • Ah, you're absolutely right! I'm gonna go burn my guitar right now, it's obvious that Angry Anonymous YouTube Pundit #5677 has a valid point here.

Those players you mentioned sound interesting, even though I can't seem to recall having heard of them before. What kind of music do they play?

  • that has to be the dumbest comment I ever heard... you do know how much guitar music I listen too?

  • @chojinkid A dumb comment? on the internet? No way!

  • @nado117 ahahha you're dumb

  • @chojinkid Innovation does not=greatness. Although the players you mentioned were innovators of guitar at the time and their influence is still being felt, that does not make them great guitar players. They helped pave the way for players like this and others. Conversely, players like this will inevitably pave the way for guitarist of today. Greatness is not a measure of what you do,but in how others perceive what you have done.

  • @chojinkid

    well

Steve vai plays with more soul than most of those players you put, he doesnt just have speed he has originality

  • @chojinkid im sry i hate arguing on the internet, its pretty gay, but this guy is pretty lame, & ur just as lame bc u cnt tell the difference between him & vai. ur the kinda cat who cnt tell the difference between stupid shred shit like this n real music like vai bc if its not the blues scale or open chords u get confused n upset. all those guitarist u name are fucking legends n i love them all to death but nobody compares to vai or satch

  • @chojinkid if gottardo is not a great player to you....you should just give up guitar...i can't understand any REAL guitar player disliking this guy.....Daniel is 1. a completely different style than all you listed. and 2. he is also far better....

  • @TheWhocares233 we dislike this guy cause he's boring, I can say the same, I can't understand you dumbs who love this guy and his style

  • @chojinkid sure. i admit this may not be the best improvising he could have done but i don't see how Cardiology could be boring ....

  • @chojinkid i am defending the idea that Steve Vai is the best guitar player in the world (because he's not) but you are a fucking idiot good sir.

"but I'm sure you ain't even able to play 2 chords, that's why gottardo is a great player for you"?

really? i dont care who you're saying that too. that statement is to ignorant for me to stand. are you saying that pushing an instrument technically forward is tasteless? look up Marrakesh Market by Daniele Gottardo and come back with some perspective

  • @guitarman801 steve vai is boring and he ain't the best player in the world, why should he be? just because he's fast? listen to albert lee, hellecasters or john mclaughing, music is no competition you berk, get a life

  • @chojinkid that is what i said!!!! you are a fucking idiot!!!!! Steve Vai IS boring and he is NOT the best. And i never said music was a competition!!! i simply asked if you felt pushing an instrument technically forward is tasteless. Many of the players you have mentioned are people that are known for doing just that, only 30 years earlier and with different techniques. so i guess i am just confused where you stand. should we just musically tread water now? please chojinkid. guide us

  • @chojinkid For a guy who talks about Page, Hendrix, and such, sure excepted your comment to be more of someone that understands music at all... music is much bigger than guys like you label it... learn that, so that you can really start enjoying more of Hendrix's work... as well as giving credit to other guitar approaches (or visions) such as Vai's or this young Gotardo...

  • One thing is clear: you're very good at swearing...

  • but I'm pretty sure I'm wasting my time explaining you this, gottardo is a bright guy, and he's aware that he lives on stupid brats like you

  • Comment removed

  • its random or misplaced dude- its advanced jazz :)

  • well the tapping licks are okay but way too overdone here and seemed too random and misplaced... the rest of the improv was mediocre. All in all ... a guitarist with chops but again another one that lacks imagination and more like a guy just motoring away.

  • There's nothing random or mediocre here, what you call random is actually improvisation that doesn't mean to play randomly but being able to solo over a backing track either you've already heard it or not, the only overdone thing is your comment... yes you overdid...

  • yeah no one would buy this.

  • I'd buy it... love Daniele Gottardo's playing!

  • thats cos your a whore

  • Doesn't that mean I sell things rather than buy things?

  • na i mean tht u make guitat frends easy

  • LOL... good point... may be too easy?!

  • mee too

  • i'd buy it also. absolutely amazing player

  • mizziga bestiale!!! 5*!!!

  • stuart bull looks like a right hard cunt, but i,ve got some of his lick library dvds quick licks srv and he seems a really nice guy!

  • im just waiting for Mick Mars solo album.....its goin to be rad!

  • Amature nothing ive seen before easy too doo just guys like him and me and etc we work hard soo for all u guys who cant doo this just start slow work ya way too speed and intence playing

  • dude you probably suck compared to him, sorry but anyone who puts themselves in the same league with anyone else is more often than not a bit jaded, what do you mean :"we work so hard for you guys?" where are your videos? i dont put them up but then im not the 1 saying i work hard for everybody else, even an mp3?

  • Ah è vero....non vince MAI AL GUITAR IDOL,CI SARA' UN MOTIVO NON TROVATE!!! Thammarat è più in gamba!

  • You are wrong my friend... read the title. Daniele Gottardo won the Steve Vai prize of an Ibanez guitar.

  • I think winning a prize selected by Steve Vai himself would rate pretty highly in anyone's view of the guitar firmament.

  • voglio sentire come suoni te, genio.
